IGN's Scott Collura talked to Evan Peters this week about his take on Quicksilver, the tech involved in bringing the character's super-speed effect to life, and the fact that there will be another version of him in Joss Whedon's Avengers: Age of Ultron.
"They used motion capture," Peters said of the speed effect. "I don't know what I can say about it and not get in trouble, I really don't. But they shot a lot of slow motion. They brought in an amazing camera, the Phantom -- it’s, like, 3600 frames per second. They brought in these huge, bright lights and did some amazing, amazing stuff with it. I'm excited to see it all cut together and check all that out. It’s going to be really cool."
Peters also confirmed that Quicksilver spends his screen time with Hugh Jackman and James McAvoy in the 1970s portion of the time-travelling film (as opposed to the dystopian future world that's also presented). Also, he'll play a "twitchy" teenager in Days of Future Past, which doesn't quite match with how the character is portrayed in the comics.
"Bryan Singer has a lot of creative freedom on these X-Men movies -- he can do pretty much whatever he wants with them," the actor says of the changes, while also noting that the possibility of comics fans reacting negatively to any alterations was definitely discussed while making the film. "There’s always that risk, but I think at the end of the day, you want to try to make the best movie you can. You kinda gotta go with your gut on that."
