Cassidy Freeman, mostly known for her outstanding performance on Smallville as Tess Mercer, took time out of her extremely busy schedule to talk to us for a little bit.

Tess is one of my favorite characters on Smallville, so we had to ask what’s it like playing a character with so many different dynamics. “It’s really, really great and I often think of her as the only human character on the show because she’s not actually in the mythos, so it’s given me the opportunity to act through passion instead of a predestined way of being, which I love.” Originally, many fans of the show thought that Tess was actually supposed to be Mercy, a loyal minion of Lex Luthor, but she is truly a Smallville original. Cassidy admitted that she didn’t always know that Tess was a Luthor and didn’t think it was always planned by the writers, but was glad for the reveal. “I think it adds a lot of credibility to her character.”

When Tess came onto the scene, it was clear that she already had a long standing relationship with Lex, but the specifics weren’t revealed. Tess has one scene with Lex in the finale. “It was really, really fun. It was a cool scene and it was such a joy to get to work with him...finally.” When asked if they would explain their past relationship, Cassidy said, “They take care of all of the questions.”

“I can tell you that she has a big decision to make and that’s whether or not she’s gonna go with her blood–the Luthors–or if she’s gonna choose to stay on Clark and Oliver’s side.” We’ll have to wait until the finale to see if Tess will ultimately be good or bad, but Cassidy admits that, “Both are really fun. When I’m fighting, I prefer bad Tess, because I usually win. But being good Tess allows me to have a lot more emotion.”

But Smallville fans will be glad to know that Cassidy feels that Tess has a great resolution by the end of the show. “I think she has a perfect resolution. It’s awesome. I love it!” She does not think the fans will be disappointed at all!

Wasn't it hinted several times that Tess and Lex had a romantic/sexual relationship?!? That is kinda weird now that they reveal her as his sister. I'm glad they are going to try and change this in the finale. One more day!

@JULEZ- Hahahaha veeery true but hey it is also very- Star Wars esque! lol. Luke and Leia. hahaha. Personally i preferred them to be estranged lovers rather than siblings.

btw- Cassidy Freeman is friggin hott.

Not my favorite character, but she did a good job. The fact that she took over for Lex and the show didn't get canceled is pretty amazing.

I can't believe it's really ending in 24 hours, I'm going to cry like a little girl when I hear "Somebody saaaaaave meeee" for the last time lol.

She is so pretty, I love her!
misner89 - 5/12/2011, 6:40 PM
i see lex killing her
JULEZ13 - 5/12/2011, 6:43 PM
@LP4: Yup, very much a la Star Wars! That's the first thing I thought of when it was announced that they are siblings. What if they actually did have an incestuous relationship?! That would be freakishly funny. It'll be so weird! The writers just don't know what to do with themselves. They should change their careers!!

@JaySin420: I agree. She was never my favorite character either but she did do one he|| of a job with the material she was given.

I actually wouldn't mind her story ending as being Lex's henchwoman like in The Superman Animated Series from the 90s. They are almost the exact same character and the resemblance in uncanny! But I also wouldn't mind her staying on the good side. Her character can go either way.

Julez: Thank you for being attractive and liking this show.

As for the article, I always liked Tess and I loved that she played in the gray through most of the series, but I'd like to see her maintin her redemption and stay with the good guys.

I'll be watching tomorrow, and I hope I'm seeing Superman for a good portion of it.

Ain't seen the final season yet as I'm in th UK. But I really do hope that Tess stcks with supe's and gives lex the old heave-ho.
LP4 - 5/13/2011, 1:28 PM
@JULEZ- Yep, totally agreed! I agree with you also about her being more like the Mercy of the 90's series. The way her and Rosenbaum look together could very well mirror the Lex and Mercy of the 90's STAS series.

Oh well...dammit!! =P

But yeah hopefully something cool happens in this finale. I'm sick of all the shit they keep spewing out in Smallville. I love the show...but they gotta do something DRASTICALLY big with the finale.

I'm still gonna say it btw- Joe M or Tom Welling for SUPERMAN IN JLA FILM!!!!

only of course if Cavill doesn't do it.

@JaySin420- LMAO nice stuff buddy! ;D

Spoiler alert

Tess becomes good and Lex kills her but she uses a poison that takes away his memory of Clark being Superman
BeardManly - 5/13/2011, 9:18 PM
@misner89

You totally called that.

I'm pretty much satisfied on how they end the character.
