Iron Man 3: Who Will the Villain Be?

New director, new baddie? Make the jump to see somem possible foes to go up against the Armored Avenger in 2013!

Seems like people liked the first installment of this 'series.' So I'll follow it up with Iron Man 3. Who will the villain be? Here are some options:


#1) The Mandarin
Seems likely, as he has been hinted at since the 1st Iron Man movie came out (10 Rings). However, that was Favreau, not Shane Black, and with Black saying this will be more like a Tom Clancy thriller, maybe Iron Man's nemesis won't be appearing.


#2) Titanium Man
Another armored menace. Could make an appearance if someone discovered Vanko's plans in Russia. Me thinks he is too similar to the Whiplash we saw in IM2.


#3) Crimson Dynamo
There have been many Dynamos in Marvel Comics. An official Russian 'Iron Man' that goes rogue when he sees Iron Man as the world's policeman could be a potential angle. But again, are we done with armored villains?


#4) MODOK/AIM
With HYDRA appearing in Captain America: The First Avenger, perhaps AIM isn't far behind. They have found a way to get Stark weapons, and Iron Man wants to shut them down. MODOK presents a challenge to present on the big screen, and I don't think the yellow AIM suits will make the transition as is either.


#5) Fing Fang Foom
With the doors opening to outer space and other realms, an alien dragon becomes a possibility. I don't think he could stand alone. Perhaps as a compliment to Mandarin.


#6) The Ghost
A spy-like villain bent on destroying what ever business or organization is in his way. He could target Stark Industries in IM3. He once went on a mission to steal vibranium from Wakanda.


#7) Extremis
Another supersoldier serum gone bad. Extremis is the name of the serum, not an actual villain, although it certainly creates more than a few. Its nanotech that acts like a virus and can be used as a weapon. The Iron Man origin from the first movie closely matches the one from this storyline.

They've been playing up Mandarin. Ten Rings was hinted at in the first, and the guy that gave Vanko his fake passport in IM2 had a "Ten Rings" ring on his finger.

So if they don't follow up on that in the 3rd, as the organization behind a lot of whats ailing Iron Man, then i'll be disappointed. Plus, how can you do an Iron Man movie series and not include his arch nemesis in one of the movies?

Mandarin, it'd be cool to see Mandarin and Fing Fang Foom together.

I agree with Dane, it would be cool if Mandarin would use Fin Fang Foom as sorta like a guardian pet or something like that

Plus, Mandarin is Iron Man's arch-enemy, so that should be every reason to have him in the Iron Man movie universe

Mandarin

There are good ways to use this character w/in the MCU continuity. Also, we've had 2 armored fights now (3 if you count the War Machine fight) and I think that we need a new type of action scene.

I agree with you Sturm, I just put Titanium Man and Dynamo in because they are pretty big in the Iron Man mythos

mandarin makes the most sense.

bt on the other hand, you forgot ezekiel stane. that would make sense too.

better be Mandarin since his been hinted in IM1 and 2 and i want to see a battle between Ironman vs Mandarin and Fing Fang Foom could be Mandarin's guard or pet

I hope War Machine is in it but only as Rhodie until he like flies off to help out S.H.I.E.L.D and comes back at the end of the movie. War Machine shouldn't be in it too much. I want to see Iron Man fight the battles alone. And Mandarin should be the villain in IM3 since he's hinted at in all the others. The ten rings in the first one. The leader of the ten rings wore one of the rings. Obadiah Stane wore one of the rings. Justin Hammer wore one of the rings and the guy who gave Ivan Vanko his passport had a ring.

I didn't forget Ezekiel Stane. I just put people up here who I thought could be the main villain. I think people like Ezekiel, Living Lazer, Blizzard, Ultimo, all have to have some higher up villain if they are involved.

What about the Mandarin and Iron Man racing to find another deposit of alien tech, and it turns out to be Foom? Three way battle could be fun

But I would like to see justin hammer return and work in league with AIM, to take down Stark Industaries together.

Then either Hammer or AIM would betray the other when they think they have won.

Mandarin and AIM. AIM was in the Iron Man game. Justin Hammer I wouldn't mind him coming back too. He was hysterical, almost as much as Stark.
