Short and to the point
I was lucky enough to see the movie with a group of friends. They knew very little about the history of Green Lantern. The movie starts off like you would think with the Lantern crashing into earth, then the ring going and finding Hal Jordan. Soon after other Lanterns arrive. They take him to the Guardians to see if he is worthy of becoming a Green Lantern. As in most movies, they don't like humans because of how destructive they are. They don't want to trust the power of a ring to a human.
I'm not going to tell more of the story because I don't want to ruin the movie for people looking forward to seeing it. I will say what I did like and didn't like. The animation and character development were great. The story was what you would expect from an animated movie. Meaning it's good for the fans and newcomers but the fans will see a lot more coming than people who as familiar. The action scenes were done so well and kept you wanting more. When the movie was over we all looked at each other and said "they have to make a sequel, it was so good".
One thing I thought was cool but didn't fit in the movie: the 3-D scenes with the Lantern. It was cool yet there was no need for it. It looks weird being in a movie that doesn't have much 3-D then having small bits of it. One thing that I thought was nice: they didn't show the 3-D mixed with the non 3-D. Some other stuff that bugged me was how few deaths occurred. With an extremely evil villain
I would have thought a lot more Lanterns would die or some of the Guardians.
The movie has a good story and good action for a straight to dvd film. 9/10 and it's now one of my favorite comic book based animated films.
