Fox Release Dates For FANTASTIC FOUR 2, WOLVERINE Sequel & Mystery Marvel Film

Fox Release Dates For FANTASTIC FOUR 2, WOLVERINE Sequel & Mystery Marvel Film reports 20th Century Fox has scheduled release dates for Fantastic Four 2, the next solo Wolverine film, and an untitled Fox/Marvel film. And, they updated their release dates for The Secret Service and their Frankenstein flick.

While everyone is still debating about Captain America 3 and Zack Snyder's untitled Batman/Superman film occupying the same release date, 20th Century went ahead and announced release dates for their upcoming slate of films.

According to, Fox has scheduled an untitled solo Wolverine film for March 3, 2017. This will James Mangold's follow up to The Wolverine which he tweeted, "I'm shooting the next Wolverine after X-Men: Apocalypse (May 27, 2016)." Hugh Jackman is expected to reprise his role.

While Josh Trank's Fantastic Four, which will star Michael B. Jordan as Johnny Storm (aka the Human Torch), Kate Mara as Sue Storm (aka the Invisible Woman), Miles Teller as Reed Richards (aka Mr. Fantastic) and Jamie Bell as Ben Grimm (The Thing), doesn't hit theaters until June 19, 2015, Fox already is planning the film's sequel. They plan to release Fantastic Four 2 on July 14, 2017.

Fox announced that an untitled Fox/Marvel film will be released on July 13, 2018. Yup, a mystery film. What could it be? Could it be a Deadpool film. Probably not. A July release date is prime real estate and calls for a safer bet than an R-rated Deadpool. It's more likely the rumored crossover film involving the X-Men and Fantastic Four. A chance for 20th Century Fox to blend and expand their cinematic comic book universe, just like Marvel Studios. Remember, imitation is the sincerest form of flattery. Another possibility was brought to my attention, it could be Jeff Wadlow's X-Force film.

Additionally, Fox decided to push up Matthew Vaughn's The Secret Service to October 24, 2014, from March 6, 2015. Their Frankenstein film, that will star Daniel Radcliffe, was moved from January 16, 2015, to October 2, 2015.

BatmanHeisenberg - 3/20/2014, 8:17 PM
FF 2, Wolverine and an untitled film? I'm GUESSING it will be either a FF and X-Men crossover, or X-force, or HOPEFULLY Deadpool.
BatmanHeisenberg - 3/20/2014, 8:18 PM
I'm actually really excited for FF! Let's hope it's great! I love the cast.

Fantastic Four: Chronological Order is rumored to be in the works for a 2017 release date, a direct sequel to Fantastic Four in the Negative Zone, after Bryan Singer's confirmation of the mutant time-traveler Apocalypse we knew another "anachronistic" super-villain will soon be introduced to the FOX universe, considering Kang's involvement in the creation of Apocalypse. The first immortal mutant circa 3000 B.C. discovered an Egyptian tomb filled with chrono-tech from the future left behind by the Pharaoh Rama-Tut who was actually Nate Richards, a time-traveler from the 30th century who later calls himself Kang the Conqueror. The now world-famous Fantastic Four return for another mind-bending trip throughout time and space. Reed Richards and Viktor von Doom learn they share a common descendant in Kang, a Korean kid from the 30th century who invents the first type of vehicular time travel device The Damocles, resulting in a destructive force known as The Eschaton, a paradoxical law of nature, devouring his future timeline and forcing Kang to retreat further into the past.

"Time is one of the greatest mysteries in life! Even the great 20th century scientist, Einstein, I believe his name was, could not completely solve the enigma, although he came close with his theory of relativity!" -Nathaniel Richards

The main characteristic of Nate Richards is nostalgia or "a sentimental longing or wistful affection for the past" he can be thought of as a reckless young man (I picture someone like Ezra Miller in the role) bored with his pristine Utopian life. He's an inventor and criminal who wants to break all the rules of time travel, proving to his ancestral foes that there are no consequences to his actions, stepping on butterflies to see if it causes tidal waves in Japan. But then Uatu the Watcher, a member of the Time Variance Authority, warns the Fantastic Four of the dangers that occur when you create a new timeline; while your timeline stays intact, the New Earth you've created gets devoured by the omnipresent Galactus, after his Heralds discover your new timeline contains a chronological disorder. The Heralds will find and kill you, but vehicular time travel allows Kang to escape from Galactus unharmed. The plot begins with Nate's short-lived phase as Scarlet Centurion, when he kidnaps Alicia Masters and the Fantastic Four follow him back to Ancient Egypt and then watch helplessly as a historically-accurate world is invaded by The Devourer and his legions of Silver Searchers.

FF and X-Men ain't leaving Fox anytime soon. Accept it.
staypuffed - 3/20/2014, 8:31 PM
Wow... Fantastic Four 2 already?
MrCBM56 - 3/20/2014, 8:31 PM

TheGambitFreak - 3/20/2014, 8:32 PM
Okay... Secret Service for this year? FF2 when the first hasn't even begun filming? This is... [frick] Fox.
gamecreatorjj - 3/20/2014, 8:36 PM
Damn, Sorry Marvelites, no reverting for a while :/
typicalfanboy - 3/20/2014, 8:37 PM
confused. i thought kang was reed richards's father who abandoned him and became a time traveller and apocalypse's mentor in egypt. not some korean kid from the future...
XelCorp - 3/20/2014, 8:38 PM
seems like Fox is in a bit of a desperate attempt to play catch up with the other studios in building a cinematic Universe.. Also can someone explain to me how ANOTHER wolverine film can work? When would it take place and wtf would it be about? Shits getting ridiculous
JoJo1982 - 3/20/2014, 8:39 PM

Here we go!!!
JamesMan - 3/20/2014, 8:39 PM
Haters are hating and I'm sitting here just

WombRaider - 3/20/2014, 8:39 PM
my unpopular opinion:

i dont think deadpool should have a movie. his jokes and stuff couldnt last throughout a whole film.

did you play the deadpool game? it was like a 5th grade child wrote those jokes and gags..

i like the deadpool comics. but a movie? theres so many better characters to have a film first
JamesMan - 3/20/2014, 8:40 PM
They've already said the next Wolverine movie would take place after The Wolverine and before Days of Future Past.
XelCorp - 3/20/2014, 8:40 PM
Also A Fantastic Four/X-men seems like the lamest cross over ever tbh
XelCorp - 3/20/2014, 8:41 PM
@JamesMan- Do you have a link?
ALmazing - 3/20/2014, 8:42 PM
"Fox has scheduled an UNTITLED FOX / MARVEL film for wide release on July 13, 2018."

Watch out Fox, WB might want to call dibs on that date too!
Kurne - 3/20/2014, 8:42 PM
Don't like the FF 2 scheduling one bit. Fox think they have the level of attention of the MCU and MoS 2.
XelCorp - 3/20/2014, 8:43 PM
But I'm not gonna really knock it before trying it. I'll see what Fox has to offer but as of now this just doesn't excite me at all
PhilipG - 3/20/2014, 8:43 PM
Wonder if Jackman is still their choice?
DeadManDann - 3/20/2014, 8:43 PM
I wonder if a March release suggests they're shooting for a smaller Wolverine film, which I'm all for. Smaller --> more freedom, hopefully.
Kurne - 3/20/2014, 8:43 PM
Glad they didn't claim any May slots. Justice League is probably in 2017 and Avengers 3 is in 2018.
CharlesLord - 3/20/2014, 8:44 PM
XelCorp - 3/20/2014, 8:44 PM
