Is Miles Teller In Final Talks For THE FANTASTIC FOUR?

Production on Josh Trank's reboot for Marvel's First Family may be in shambles, but the actor who's reportedly the top Mr. Fantastic contender implies he's still in the running or already has the part.

Last year's The Spectacular Now breakout star Miles Teller is currently receiving buzz for his starring role in the independent film Whiplash, which was picked up by Sony just days after premiering at the Sundance Film Festival this week. As the actor reportedly topped the shortlist for Reed Richards, aka Mr. Fantastic, in Fox's Fantastic Four reboot mid last year, the casting was immediately debunked by director Josh Trank before Teller confirmed himself being in early talks.

Considering we've yet to hear anything on The Fantastic Four since then, besides a later release date and the strong probability that Miles Teller's Awkward Moment co-star Michael B. Jordon will play Johnny Storm, aka the Human Torch, Punch Drunk Critics caught up with the aforementioned actor at Sundance and pressed him for an update. “Yeah, that should be coming up in the next few weeks,” he replied, when asked bluntly if we'll see him in the 2015 reboot of Marvel's First Family. Could this mean the casting has been finalized? Maybe. We'll find out, well, in a few weeks if the trades don't get the jump on the casting. Anyhow, the interviewer notes that Teller seemed very enthusiastic about the project, without going into specifics. What do you think?

With principal photography starting on March 31, The Fantastic Four will release on June 19, 2015.

He looks 'unlike-able' ha, ha...
Tevii - 1/21/2014, 9:41 AM
So far the news on this movie tells me Catwoman may have a rival for the worst CBM of all time
Destruktor2k - 1/21/2014, 9:41 AM

How old is he? 18

This movie is doomed!

I think Michael B Jordan as human torch is the least of this movie's problems
TheGoddamnPeel - 1/21/2014, 9:41 AM
^ That he does, guy on the left seems like a reasonably modest guy, one on the right just looks cocky. The quote supports the latter theory as well.
GL - 1/21/2014, 9:42 AM
I don't know why, but if actually see this
Rhysno1 - 1/21/2014, 9:43 AM
If it doesn't go into production by October the rights go back, I'm praying
Omarvls - 1/21/2014, 9:43 AM

Before we start casting younger and blacker I would have liked to have seen a true version of the fantastic four I grew up watching first. Their 90's cartoon was amazing. Really captured what they were about. A family of explorers with super powers who happen to stumble into trouble and could always out think the bad guys they ran across. I was always so excited to see that show. *sigh....*

I really wish Marvel owned them and X-Men.

^ What that man said
ATrueHero1987 - 1/21/2014, 9:46 AM
The one property I really want to revert back to Marvel. I really hope this isn't going to be based on the Ultimate F4...smh

And the guy above him
Omarvls - 1/21/2014, 9:47 AM
Sometimes I forget that their are other studios besides Marvel & DC/WB making comicbookmovies

I just don't see how this movie will be any good
GL - 1/21/2014, 9:47 AM
I don't know why, but I'd actually see this. Don't judge me.
Omarvls - 1/21/2014, 9:48 AM
Is their any chance the rights can go back to Marvel?
JordanKing - 1/21/2014, 9:48 AM
I think they should make use of the Human Torch and burn this production to the ground.
JoJo1982 - 1/21/2014, 9:48 AM
I wonder who is going to be the villain?

Dr Doom again

Mole Man

supermarioworldE - 1/21/2014, 9:48 AM
Not good. The guy is way too young.
SpiderFraud - 1/21/2014, 9:48 AM
Are they really gonna go with a young Fantastic Four???
McNyagano - 1/21/2014, 9:49 AM
"This movie, along with Ant Man,will not get my money in 2015.[frick] those movies.Terrible casting all around."

Whatever. You'll be there opening week-end. If not, then you're going to watch the films one way or another. So stop the whole 'they will not get my money' nonsense.
Franshu - 1/21/2014, 9:49 AM
Man, how hard is it to make a movie that is 100% respectful of the comics?? All theseunnecessary changes just for change's sake...
ScorpioRisin - 1/21/2014, 9:52 AM
Can't wait for the Fantastic Babies
2013venjix - 1/21/2014, 9:53 AM
NO. JUST... NO!!!!
Dmon - 1/21/2014, 9:53 AM
Wow Reed and Johnny the same age [frick] that. I hope this movie does not make back it's budget and fails.
CharlesLord - 1/21/2014, 9:53 AM
Im still hoping for this to crash and burn so the rights revert. Marvel just needs the FF rights to really take the MCU places.
MatTaylorX - 1/21/2014, 9:54 AM
I'll stick with The Incredibles.
SpiderFraud - 1/21/2014, 9:54 AM

Now that you say that , I want Clooney as I'm a little bit more sad.

You do like assuming a lot, huh?
JoJo1982 - 1/21/2014, 9:54 AM

I think Geogre Clooney would've been perfect for Mr Fantastic

But I don't think George wouldn't do another CBM after what happen last time......... *shivers*
ForeverPowerful - 1/21/2014, 9:56 AM
Inhuman - 1/21/2014, 9:57 AM
I pray to the movie gods that Fox somehow [frick]s up and the production is not in time for the release and the rights have to revert back Marvel Studios like Daredevil did. That way FF reverts back to Marvel Studios and we can get a FF film for Phase 3 to further expand the cosmos with the Negative Zone, Skrulls, Silver Surfer, and Galactus. Plus I want to see the interaction between Stark, Reed, Banner, and Pym
GenerationX - 1/21/2014, 9:58 AM
Teller blows...I'm not a fan of his at all
charlie2094 - 1/21/2014, 9:58 AM
Looks....young? The family dynamic is a huge part of what makes F4 work so well, can't abolish that...

Seriously worried about this film...have defended Fox in the past, but not really liking what we've been hearing regarding this film. Don't see why it's so hard...not clamouring for the rights to revert back to Marvel, but have to imagine they might do a better job...
CherryBomb - 1/21/2014, 9:59 AM

The F4 got their powers in their 20's didn't they?
If so, then this isn't terrible casting. He's a talented guy.

They're filming in March, so surely they must be done with casting by now! They're cutting it close securing actors this late.
Fantastic4ever - 1/21/2014, 9:59 AM
What the hell! Have you guys seen a second of footage? Exactly! the first 2 f4 movies sucked so they're trying something different just give it a chance damn
BubblesShedAndBreakfast - 1/21/2014, 9:59 AM
If so the whole time I see him as Reed I'll be thinking its KD Lang! He looks like her.
THEDARKKNIGHT1939 - 1/21/2014, 10:00 AM
LMAO wow this is such a fail. This movie is going to make the last one look like the definitive FF movie.
starblazed - 1/21/2014, 10:00 AM
Ok this needs to be said - Miles Teller is actually a really talented actor, he's been brilliant in everything i've seen him in...just REALLY strange casting. He'd actually make a really great Peter Parker, or now that I think of it - he'd be a perfect Johnny Storm. But Reed Richards???
