Kate Mara Talks FANTASTIC FOUR & Is More Than Visible In Sexy Esquire Photos
In February, it was announced that Kate Mara had been cast as Susan "Sue" Storm, better known as the Invisible Woman in the upcoming Josh Trank-directed Fantastic Four reboot. We've heard a few tidbits about the film since them, but for the most part we've heard very little and seen even less.
In an interview with Esquire México, the lovely Kate Mara chatted about her role in the upcoming Josh Trank-directed Fantastic Four reboot. Without giving anything away, she may have revealed a bit about which direction the plot may go. Check it out!
In an interview with Esquire México, featured in the July 2014 issue, Mara chatted a bit about her upcoming role in the reboot, and while she doesn't reveal too much about the film's plot, she does drop a potential clue as to whether or not the plot will be a familiar one or not. She also talks about her audition process and how much she knew about the role prior to landing it.
The original interview is in Spanish and has been translated by yours truly using Google Translate, so it may be just a little rough. Check out an excerpt from the interview below:
Q: How do you feel being the new Invisible Woman? It's a big responsibility.
A: I don't feel more responsibility with this role that I've felt with others. I understand that there are many fans of Fantastic Four and I guess they expect a lot from me, but I prefer not to be pressured by that. We are also trying to create a new way of seeing these superheroes, I'm focusing on making her (Susan Storm) as real as possible.
Q: Do you like comics?
A: I've never been a fan of comics, I've never actually read one. I was going to for this movie but the director said it wasn't necessary. Well, actually he told us that we shouldn't do it because the plot won't be based on any history of anything already published. So I chose to follow his instructions. The one fact is I am a fan of comic book movies, so it's very exciting to be part of a movie like this.
Q: What did you think when the audition for this movie? Were you nervous?
A: I was excited, but I only focused on doing the best I could. I think there are roles you get if that's what needs to happen. I kept everything in perspective although expected to stay with the paper, because the movie has great actors like Michael B. Jordan (who will be the Human Torch).
The most interesting bit of information from this interview has to be that the reboot won't be following any famous or pre-existing Fantastic Four story, so it looks like Trank is really taking this film into his own direction. What do you guys think? Sound off with your thoughts below and don't forget to check out her stunning photos!
The Fantastic Four reboot will feature:
Director: Josh Trank
Miles Teller as Reed Richards/Mr. Fantastic
Kate Mara as Susan Storm/Invisible Woman
Michael B. Jordan as Johnny Storm/Human Torch
Jamie Bell as Ben Grimm/The Thing
Toby Kebbell as Victor von Doom/Doctor Doom
Reg E. Cathey as Dr. Storm
The Fantastic Four reboot is expected to hit theaters June 19, 2015.
