After waiting a long time for a look at something official from the upcoming Fantastic Four reboot, we got some set snaps and the very first trailer all within the span of a few hours. Said trailer seems to have managed to silence a few naysayers, vindicate others who've been behind the film from the start, and also confirm some folk's opinion that it'll surely be a load of bollocks.

The teaser begins with a voicover from House Of Cards' Reginald "Reg" E. Cathey, who plays Dr. Franklin Storm, the father of The Invisible Woman and The Human Torch. We get nice shots of most of the main cast (Miles Teller, Kate Mara, Jamie Bell and Michael B. Jordan), and a couple of brief glimpses of Toby Kebbell as Victor "Dr. Doom" Domashev. Will he accompany our heroes on their fateful mission? The trailer certainly suggests that he might. From there we see the aftermath of the accident which leads to the four becoming fantastic, and each of their powers (with the exception of Sue Storm's invisibility) is teased, but not showcased full-on. We end with a very nice shot of the four facing... another beam of light shooting into the sky.

The more serious tone we'd heard about is in full effect, with not so much as a hint of humor in this first teaser, anyway. Is that good or bad? Well, "dark and gritty" is all well and good, but we are talking about a movie featuring a giant orange rock man and a guy who can turn himself into a trampoline here. What about the costumes? We had a rough idea of what to expect, and those descriptions (springs for Reed, vents for Johnny) seem to have been pretty accurate -- but remember, these are apparently only the team's preliminary outfits. There is really more of a sci-fi vibe than a superhero one from this, which might actually be the best way to handle these characters. Overall I quite liked the teaser, but I'll keep a healthy dose of scepticism until I see a bit more. More importantly, what did you guys think? Vote in our poll, and sound off in the usual place.

I say Average because while it wasn't a terrible or bad trailer it wasn't excellent or really good either. Personally nothing about this trailer stood out at all more just "Stock Sci-Fi" trailer then anything.

Oh boy, here comes the flood of "JKFHASKJFHAS Keep your opinions in the editorials section!!!" comments.

Add that to the healthy dose of controversy that the subject matter here will inspire anyways, and we got the makings of a 10+ page thread filled with pain, suffering, anguish, trolling, and humor. Maybe a few insightful comments sprinkled here and there. Buckle up, folks, this should be fun.

Wasn't bad. It looks better than I thought it would. That's not saying much as I thought it would be horrible. I kinda like the origin change, as I thought the original was a little dated. Four people go into space and Boom Superheros!!

"You can’t have the word ‘fantasy’ or ‘fantastical’ without a contrast. It has to stem from a grounded experience. You can’t have bad without good, you can’t have right without wrong, you can’t have fantastic without mundane. You need to experience all that to really earn the title of the film, ‘Fantastic Four’." - Josh Trank

He knows what he's talking about.

Okay ya whatever you say Fantastic Four is the only CBM anyone should care about this year. Such unbiased words have never been spoken on this site. You truly have shown us that you in no way hate the MCU.
