Teller has talked about being Mr. Fantastic several times lately. Confirming that he's excited to play him and that he has been in for a full body scan and stuff.

Miles Teller has lied about auditions before

"You can’t control the rumors, that’s how people get hits on their websites; that’s just them doing their job. As long as I’m not the one starting them. Then again, I’ll start a rumor. If I want a movie, like I put a rumor out there for me [auditioning] for Star Wars. It didn’t happen, but I think it got some people [to say], ‘Oh, yeah, maybe he would be right for that.’" -Miles Teller

So he put his name out for a Star Wars Episode VII shortlist before holding an audition, nothing wrong with that, but then Teller admitted that he'd never seen any of the original Star Wars and only watched Return of the Jedi for research but wasn't too thrilled by it. “I want to chase directors at this point,” Now he's eager to work with Josh Trank who notoriously directed a short film about Star Wars, and Simon Kinberg, the screenwriter on a number of Star Wars spin-offs – but really, he's never seen Star Wars before? An extroverted comedic actor is chasing after the lead role as a scientific genius in a sci-fi space opera, we should now regard the director's immediate response to “that little rumor floating around today? Isn't true. the end.” and stop making positive assumptions about a guy who is clearly incompatible with every sci-fi filmmaker across the board: Josh Trank has no interest in casting Miles Teller – but this actor somehow managed to read the entire script before even doing a screen-test:

“When I read the script, it didn't feel like I was reading this larger-than-life, incredible superhero tale. These are all very human people that end up having to become I guess what is known as the Fantastic Four. A lot of times it just looks like Hollywood actors in Halloween costumes, you know?” -Miles Teller

His vague description of an unspectacular team of reluctant superheroes sounds exactly like the 2005 script it doesn't sound anything like the 2015 sci-fi action screenplay involving aliens and alternate dimensions, for him to describe it as “not incredible and not larger-than-life.” “I could have played The Thing but, then I'm covered in rocks. I don't want to cover up my face, you know.” Again, he's referencing the Tim Story films, shouldn't he know by now that character is being rendered in full CGI? Teller is the only person talking openly about it, yet he doesn't seem to have any insider knowledge beyond watching the two previous films, watching Chronicle, and reading a few news articles with his name in it. Despite having nothing in common with the director or screenwriter, and completely alienating himself from the comics' fanbase, Miles described his audition process like it went off without a hitch, recounting the events in surreal narrative:

“Yeah, I went in for 'a test' as they call it, and I read with Mike and Kate, and Trank was there. We just kind of put it down in front of the studio and the studio gave it a thumbs up. I showed 'em my abilities to stretch and shape shift, they were very impressed by that.” -Miles Teller

He makes it sound like an audition for Hunger Games, like shady FOX executives evaluated tributes behind a sheet of glass, and he had to impress the Gamemakers to get a higher score -- it doesn't sound like it actually happened. I find it even harder to believe these three were put in a room together to test the chemistry between Reed, Johnny, and Susan – where was Jamie Bell during this? You'd think Reed and Ben are lifelong best friends, much of the script would be devoted to that relationship. It's as if Teller and Jordan's comedic chemistry is all that matters, even though Matthew Vaughn clearly said “it's not a comedy”, so many fans have been fooled into watching the bromantic comedy That Awkward Moment expecting a sneak preview of Fantastic Four. The genre is so far detached from 'the brom-com,' why on earth would two 27 year old “dudes” play characters that are generations apart, two radically different age-groups, a teenager and a mid-30's adult whose comedic chemistry is next to none? Ben Grimm is supposed to be a lot taller than Reed, and Sue is supposed to be much younger than Reed, but here Jamie Bell is five inches shorter than Miles Teller, and Teller is three years younger than Kate Mara but eight inches taller – the heights and ages are displaced in every way imaginable.

Admit it, that's the cast and it's a cast of great young actors.
Sure it's not the ideal cast but it's what we've got.

Kate Mara will bring intelligence and beauty to Sue, which is perfect.
Miles Teller looks a lot like Mr Fantastic, it's just a shame he isn't older.
Jamie Bell will be CGI, I guess they wanted to show a bigger contrast from a skinny guy to a big rock-like monster.
Michael B Jordan is so talented, yeah ideally we would've gotten a white, blonde hair blue eyed Johnny, but I'm not bothered too much, just think it shows racial stereotyping.

This seems like a conspiracy theory, the studio would have debunked a rumor this out of control.

So you're just assuming all of this? Like you have inside info? Cuz I'm pretty sure it's casted. And this summer when they announce this cast. You're going to feel pretty dumb.

TucksFrom2015 - 4/3/2014, 2:20 PM
guys, the studio debunked every rumor beforehand! that's why I included so many statements from the director, who was frustrated with having to set people straight on baseless nonsense. it's why he deleted his twitter account after uploading a picture of the classic blonde Johnny Storm. the only conspiracy is thinking the filmmakers are making 'the Miles Teller spin-off' from the X-Men saga.

"The filmmakers are not part of the equation when actors talk about stuff written on the internet."

#FantasticFour is a film
and not just a trend on Twitter. these actors are trending right now, it doesn't mean Fox needs any of them, if anything they needed this to boost their careers. nobody knew who they were a second ago and now they're superstars, and a few months from now they'll be superstars who almost played superheroes, but the studio wanted to make a better movie instead so they decided to go with actors who better matched the characters.

"What was true a week ago - someone was in talks, the production was close to having a deal - isn't true today. Fox could, for whatever reason, cut any one of them loose with little-to-no financial repercussions."

@dethpillow

of course those quotes weren't direct but paraphrased to clear up the fake plot details and that all non-studio cast reports shouldn't be believed, I only try to represent the filmmakers' perspective not Trank himself. he's been misrepresented enough as it is, people think he's hanging onto Mike Jordan, even though it was Nikki Finke's idea to start another "Donald Glover as Spider-Man" campaign, and look how that one turned out. so fat chance they're gonna scrap this project! the Negative Zone storyline has been in development for more than 6 years, Tim Story wanted to use the N-Zone and read mostly Ultimate Fantastic Four comics during production. the above cast doesn't look anything like Ultimate or 616 comics so its no indication of what the screenplay is like (visually accurate, sci-fi as hell) this is FOX's attempt at doing another Star Wars, another Alien, they're not letting this one revert.

@dethpillow

Avengers 2 is released months before FF, so their filming schedules don't exactly synch-up, with XM:DoFP they did most of the filming after mid-summer Comic Con when they had the whole cast together -- same goes for FF. the release date was bumped up to July 2015 to give them more time, it's so CGI-driven it has to be planned ahead of schedule without a cast. the pre-production eats up a lot of time, most special effects start out as 64-bit so they can fill in facial details later and make it look like the chosen actors.

All I can say is that this film has gone a long time, and is pushing unusually close to its release date (14 months for a superhero film) to have not confirmed a single casting choice. I like Trank and the alleged cast, but you have to wonder about all of the delays.

@MrCBM56

I have no idea man, everybody has a twitter account, and Jamie Bell didn't say anything until another motion-capture British guy, Toby Kebbell, joined his "super secret boy band" it's more like pageantry when these actors call each other talented and say they're excited, just let 'em have it. expect Part 2 to come out next Sunday or Monday at the latest.

MightyZeus
MightyZeus - 4/4/2014, 3:26 AM
Yes the cast is a travesty and you have to wonder what is the director and the studio thinking. The casting could be attributed towards a conspiracy theory.
All i can say is that production on the film has to start soon or else the film will meet it's deadline.

I mean who really know's what the hell is going on with the Fantastic Four over at FOX
