Toby Kebbell Set To Play 'Doctor Doom' In FANTASTIC FOUR

Toby Kebbell Set To Play 'Doctor Doom' In FANTASTIC FOUR

After being named as part of the shortlist along with several other young actors, Variety now report that Fox and Josh Trank have offered the role of villainous Victor von Doom in their Fantastic Four reboot to Warcraft's Toby Kebbell. More after the jump.

It seems it's not quite a done deal yet (though Variety seem pretty certain it will be) but Fox want Dead Man's Shoes/Dawn Of The Planet Of The Apes/ Warcraft actor Toby Kebbell to play the villain in the upcoming Fantastic Four reboot, Doctor Doom. We already knew Kebell was in the running for the role along with Jack Huston, Domhnall Gleeson, Sam Riley and Eddie Redmayne, but clearly the studio and director Josh Trank have made their choice. If it pans out, Kebbell will join Miles Teller, Kate Mara, Michael B. Jordan and Jamie Bell in the reboot, which will shoot this spring.

ProfessorX - 4/1/2014, 3:21 PM
Would have been funnier if you'd said Michael Cena lol.
Dinotron - 4/1/2014, 3:21 PM
I guess not! But I'm not so into this casting...
Gibman - 4/1/2014, 3:22 PM
If this an April fools prank it kinda sucks
Batman52 - 4/1/2014, 3:22 PM
It's legit just saw this casting information on Variety and Hollywood Reporter.
GenerationX - 4/1/2014, 3:23 PM
We have learned to not believe about 99% of the crap published here today
ProfessorX - 4/1/2014, 3:23 PM
Oh, so this is real? At least he's not female...

HavocPrime - 4/1/2014, 3:24 PM
The dude from Wrath of the Titans? Just when you think this film couldn't get any worse.
incepshawn - 4/1/2014, 3:24 PM
Yes to this. So much yes. He was great in Rock N Rolla and The East (if you haven't seen it, do yourselves a favor and check it out). Another talent joining the cast.
Reasonnnn - 4/1/2014, 3:24 PM
Good actor, never got any great roles though
Nadj76 - 4/1/2014, 3:24 PM
He was GREAT in Rocknrolla.
MrCBM56 - 4/1/2014, 3:24 PM
I don't see this happening. Isn't he filming Warcraft?

Pretty good actor too. I've only seen him in War Horse.
MrCBM56 - 4/1/2014, 3:26 PM
Glad that got someone with an accent too.
DrDoom - 4/1/2014, 3:27 PM
You've got be [frick]ing kidding me.
MrCBM56 - 4/1/2014, 3:27 PM
Lol @MrMartinMarvel. Elaborate on whats wrong with this guy.
MrCBM56 - 4/1/2014, 3:28 PM
I bet anyone who don't like this casting have no idea who this is, or, they won't be able to explain why they don't like this casting. This is actually a pretty good actor for what I've seen him in War horse.
DrDoom - 4/1/2014, 3:28 PM

incepshawn - 4/1/2014, 3:28 PM
Here comes the "he wasn't in my fan cast and I've never even taken seen any of his work so he automatically sucks" comments. Get out of here.
Abary - 4/1/2014, 3:29 PM
Well... this choice sucks
TChalla - 4/1/2014, 3:29 PM
Well I got my two cents in today :)
MrCBM56 - 4/1/2014, 3:29 PM

Ah ok. I get it. Looks>Talent.
Abary - 4/1/2014, 3:30 PM
Someone is pissed off...

*Looks at Dr. Doom* >_>
ALegendaryPanda - 4/1/2014, 3:30 PM
How is this guy a bad choice?? The hate for this movie is just outstanding.
ProfessorX - 4/1/2014, 3:30 PM
This would be like casting Jesse Eisenberg as Lex Luthor... Oh wait.
Starfox - 4/1/2014, 3:33 PM
lmao @DrDoom
MrCBM56 - 4/1/2014, 3:34 PM

Why don't you like this choice?
DrDoom - 4/1/2014, 3:36 PM

I've only seen him in Dead Man's Shoes, Prince of Persia and Wrath of the Titans, but none of those performances convince me that he would be able to pull off the sense of regal intellect and menacing gravitas that Doom requires. To be fair, I haven't seen War Horse.
MrCBM56 - 4/1/2014, 3:36 PM

Just stop. Please.
TChalla - 4/1/2014, 3:37 PM
Ladies and Gentleman! Your Doc Doom!

@Doom your gonna have to change your pic to this now lol

DrDoom - 4/1/2014, 3:38 PM

I don't hate the guy per se (although he does have a punchable face) but I don't think he's right to play . . . . well, me.
Rhinoman - 4/1/2014, 3:39 PM

The hate is very rationale, we can all agree the MCU is the strongest franchise, and anything that can be done to make it stronger will be praised by all Marvel fans.

Right now our MCU is complete minus the Heroes/Villians of:
Spider-man (Sony)(Bariing a Sony acquisition, never getting back)
Fantastic Four (Fox), if production gets held up than theres a chance, otherwise 7 more years at least
X-Men (Fox-Never getting back)
Manor the Submariner(Universal)- Not sure if that deal is past seven years contractually, may re-join the family eventually
RorMachine - 4/1/2014, 3:40 PM
Brilliant actor. He'll nail it.
MrCBM56 - 4/1/2014, 3:40 PM
As for previous denials (including Miles Teller), Trank expressed frustration with the way that amorphous wish lists get reported as fact.

MrCBM56 - 4/1/2014, 3:41 PM

April Fools?
Abary - 4/1/2014, 3:41 PM
lol Martin the punchibility of some actors is astonishing
SkipKahless - 4/1/2014, 3:43 PM
at least he will be wearing a mask....smh...nowhere near the gravitas needed for a proper characterization of doom.
ruadh - 4/1/2014, 3:44 PM
Rock n Rolla?!
THEDARKKNIGHT1939 - 4/1/2014, 3:46 PM
Even if the casting was perfect, I still wouldn't giva damn. The movie is doomed no matter what.
THEDARKKNIGHT1939 - 4/1/2014, 3:46 PM
no pun intended
