BOX OFFICE: <i>Immortals</i> Wins the Weekend Both Domestically and Internationally!

Tarsem Singh-directed R-rated action adventure film Immortals starring Henry Cavill and Mickey Rourke took the #1 spot at the box office in US, as well as taking the first place internationally from The Adventures of Tintin...

Relativity Media's Immortals, directed by Tarsem Singh (The Cell) and starring Henry Cavill, Mickey Rourke, Stephen Dorff, Freida Pinto and Luke Evans, took the first place at the domestic box office with $32 million in its first weekend. The R-rated film was produced for $75 million. According to The Hollywood Reporter, Immortals is #1 internationally too, with $37.1 million.

"Opening across 35 overseas markets – including Russia, China, the U.K. and Japan -- Relativity Media’s Immortals decisively claimed the weekend’s No. 1 box office spot on the foreign theatrical circuit, grossing an estimated $37.1 million."

So, that's around $68 million worldwide for the first weekend. Also, Steven Spielberg and Peter Jackson's The Adventures of Tintin had a 30% drop, making another $26.7 million and with that, it passed a $150M mark internationally. Film took #2 spot this weekend.

It was a pretty cool movie. Crazy fight scenes and when the Gods come down, BAM! Headshot!

Boxoffice mojo has taught me that Russians will watch anything. Didnt like how the Titans looked and acted like zombies.
NotThatGuy - 11/13/2011, 7:09 PM
Meanwhile, Adam Sandler's Jack And Jill came in at a close 2nd with $26MIL, lmfao!!!

@ whatevillurks

I agree with you on the Titans remark. They dropped the ball to create an very good fight scene. The scene was still good but it could have been better. I enjoyed the movie though. That last scene of them fighting in the sky was epic though.

Is this supposed to be surprising or impressive? Look at what it had to compete with...nothing.

I just watched Supes17 clip, and now I want to see this movie even more.

The movie was....ummm...I guess the best adjective would be meh. It wasn't horrible, but it certainly wasn't great. It was great to look at, and I like how they portrayed the Gods (even though I seem to be the minority in regards to that), but it felt, hollow. Yes! That is the word I want hollow. I was entertained, but I was let down by one of the most anti climatic endings you will see in a movie. For those like me who love Greek mythology definitely check it out on Blu Ray. I was hoping for more, and even Cavill's speech at the end left me wondering WTF. Why are they following him? He was great, as the humble bad ass warrior. When it came to galvanizing leader, eh, not so much.
RidiculousFanBoyDemands - 11/13/2011, 11:57 PM
Don't let Supes clip fool you. While that was a great part of the movie, most of the movie is NOTHING like that. It is rather slow, and that style of fighting lasts 5 minutes max.
RidiculousFanBoyDemands - 11/13/2011, 11:58 PM
(when I said I was thought the end was anti climatic I don't mean the bad ass Gods Titans battle. I meant everything else, that was the saving grace of the film, and makes you wish they did a Gods vs Titans movie over this one).
spiderneil - 11/14/2011, 2:52 AM
the fights are awesome
the visuals are amazing
the bits in between are dull and drab
SuperSomething616 - 11/14/2011, 3:31 AM
Proper enjoyable action, comedy (at points) and defo cringe worthy factor going on (any guy who has seen knows what I'm talking about)

Also good to see the gods getting their hands dirty!!! All in all a thoroughly enjoyable Greek epic to go up there with 300 (though not as good as 300)

Also Cavill was immense and easily the most enjoyable factor of the film...Snyder cast right when he cast Henry as our new Superman he his going to be EPIC!!!
StrangerX - 11/14/2011, 5:00 AM
That's impressive!! I didn't know the budget was only 75 mil. I say let Tarsem do Samauri Jack since he knows how to work around a budget and make it look great as well.
SUPERSHADOWBAT - 11/14/2011, 7:37 AM
Not a bad flick, script could have been better.Cavill and Rourke got the most out of their parts, great action and fight scenes though the Titans could have been portrayed better. 3D was excellent, overall good fun movie.
SugarYumYum - 11/14/2011, 9:08 AM
@Supes: Nice clip. Couldn't really take the violence seriously though since it looks so video game-y. The only part that felt real was when whatsherface got stabbed.

Still looks like a rental but glad to see Cavill's movie doing well. <3

Good. Make another.
@teabag- Only you could find something like that.
Berlusconi just doesn't give a sh**. Hilarious.

And yes, I'm saying it again: Make this too!

Yesterday i've seen the movie, and it's the first time I've seen a film beautifully filmed but with bad script and worst dialogue. As someone already said the last speech by Theseus to the soldiers was bad but, their reaction was so sudden from fear to boldness that seemed a spoof film of some kind. But the way was filmed was awesome and so wasd the editing. A pity that none seems to have read any mythology book or everything was mixed up. Hyperion was a titan not a mortal king, the minotaur was a monster not a man with an helmet, but worst of all, gods died like soldiers in save private Ryan.
antman73 - 11/14/2011, 4:10 PM
to intruder
I'd like to think that Berlusconi was beaten up by Chuck Norris but that's not what happened, I've would Have liked if he was punished by Frank Castle himself, that would have seem his proper demise. Two days ago was just "decommisioned" ( sorry, I don't have any other terms to explain italian politics ) and people had a party like when Italy won Soccer World Cup. Unfortunally he has a back up plan...

Only two people I know have so many back up plans; Silvio Berlusconi and Doctor Doom. The difference is just that one is a super villain and the other one is DR DOOM!

Oh, I didn't say I'm Italian, and we said sorry for been it for so long due to that FRACKing evil Dwarf!!!
