Wonderful film

Anchor Man 2 was projected to open with 50 million, another movie that didn't meet expectations. I'm surprised it has taken Smaug this long to reach 100 mil, but it is still the best movie I have seen this year.
HellsHammer - 12/20/2013, 6:06 PM
I'll be seeing it at least 2 more times
BboiBlack - 12/20/2013, 6:09 PM
Man of Steel would have stayed at number one for a second week if only WB didn't put it out with 145million dollars worth of competition in week 2
Curmudgeon - 12/20/2013, 6:15 PM
'Smaug' may become my first repeat trip to the theater in years.

Easily my favorite film of 2013.
OcciferPing - 12/20/2013, 6:21 PM
Movie was amazing. So much better than the first. And the HDR wasn't as distracting this time, if not, at all.
ds9epicfan - 12/20/2013, 6:22 PM
Still number one at the box office,no surprise!!
MrCBM56 - 12/20/2013, 6:44 PM
Best movie this year.
Demongod20 - 12/20/2013, 6:52 PM
I’m going to see it again this weekend. I loved MOS. It was my favorite movie of the year but after I saw the THE HOBBIT: THE DESOLATION OF SMAUG I realized just how flat Goyers writing really was in that movie. THE HOBBIT: THE DESOLATION OF SMAUG gets my vote now as movie of the year. It was near perfect as a film.

Haven't seen this yet :(
Ramiel - 12/20/2013, 7:20 PM
Sucks for Anchorman 2. It was predicted to have a $50M weekend debut.
DraculaX - 12/20/2013, 7:24 PM
I saw this the other day, good movie. I got goosebumps at the end when Smaug said he is fire and death. Benedict Cumberbatch knocks it out of the park with this one.

I would love to see him play Luthor, Martian Manhunter, Darkseid or Brainiac.
DelTorite - 12/20/2013, 7:35 PM
Martin Freeman as Bilbo is the casting of the decade. He's perfect in every way.
Grayson7954 - 12/20/2013, 7:36 PM
saw early screening of lone survivor. Pretty frickin intense.
Ramiel - 12/20/2013, 7:40 PM
"I would love to see him play Luthor, Martian Manhunter, Darkseid or Brainiac."

He would own the role of Dr. Strange
RRA - 12/20/2013, 8:21 PM
Hey the first Hobbit made a billion, the rest are making gravy at this point. Think global people, not just stateside. (Jesus learn from THE WOLVERINE: Lowest grossing X-Men movie ever stateside, #2 highest film global in the franchise. Guess what? We're getting another Wolverine film.)

RRA - 12/20/2013, 8:24 PM
Also, I saw AMERICAN HUSTLE. Good stuff, a terrific adult entertainment with terrific performances. I give it 4 bad combovers out of 5.
damntree - 12/20/2013, 9:13 PM
Anchorman 2 was highly anticipated?
DC4KIDS - 12/20/2013, 10:04 PM
Surprised that AM2 disappointed so badly. And this is The Hobbit's last week at #1, because Scorsese's The Wolf of Wall Street will be #1 next week.
HavocPrime - 12/20/2013, 11:33 PM
Deserves every penny, the encounter with Smaug alone was worth admission.
MightyZeus - 12/21/2013, 12:08 AM
Seeing this next year when the crowd dies down.
TheOverlord - 12/21/2013, 5:09 AM
I actually preferred the first one: it was slower, but the story was more coherent. This one was great too, but at times felt like one stunt after another with no time for character development. Overall I'm just nitpicking, though - I loved this movie, especially Smaug.
MrZoolittle - 12/21/2013, 6:21 AM
this was a super fun movie, can't wait for the 3rd film.
Ship - 12/21/2013, 7:08 AM
Excellent movie 2nd of the year.
PeepingTom - 12/21/2013, 11:45 AM
So Anchorman 2 is going to suck.

Looks like a worldwide total of around $300 million.

How much was the marketing budget, like $50 trillion?
riseofloganX36 - 12/21/2013, 5:39 PM
I just got back from it and it was amazing the best part was smaug. He looked amazing and the voice was dead on it was word for word to the cartoon movie, I mouthed to everything hw said and Ioved what he said at the end and I diden't want it to end.

I caint waint for the third on and then to whatch it all, the hobbit and the lord of the rings. Bring it!

Ranger14 - 12/21/2013, 6:52 PM
I haven't heard one positive thing about Anchorman 2. Everyone I know that has gone to it wanted to walk out on it.
