First Trailer For Christophe Gans' BEAUTY AND THE BEAST

First Trailer For Christophe Gans' BEAUTY AND THE BEAST

The very first trailer for Brotherhood Of The Wolf/Silent Hill director Christophe Gans' upcoming take on the classic fairytale has been released, featuring Léa Seydoux as 'Beauty' and Vincent Cassel as 'Beast'. No subtitles unfortunately, but check it out after the jump.

There have been numerous versions of this story already, from Disney's much loved animated feature to the travesty that was Beastly. Guillermo del Toro is also said to be interested in directing his own take with Harry Potter's Emma Watson, and there is another French version of the story out there too: the bizarre 1975 flick La Bête (The Beast). There have been a few comic book adaptations also, including a limited series from Marvel with X-Men's Beast and Dazzler! Gans also wrote the screenplay of the French language version, with a budget of around €33 million ($43.2 million). Silent Hill is generally considered to be among the best video game adaptations out there (not exactly difficult I know), and his genre mixing Brotherhood Of The Wolf is something of a flawed masterpiece imo so I'm looking forward to this.

No US/UK release dates yet, but the movie opens in France on February 12, 2014.

gaikinger - 12/3/2013, 7:30 AM
Meh....French....they fight with their feet and make love with their faces. Lucky they dont need permission from Germany to make this movie!
BillyM67 - 12/3/2013, 7:33 AM
Looks really good and the CGI looks great. Would do well here in the US.
RorMachine - 12/3/2013, 7:34 AM
gaikinger - really? STILL? Grow up
SimyJo - 12/3/2013, 7:35 AM
@DelTorite: Yeah.... Vincent should have 6 to 8 in his feline beast-form.

@MightyZeus: Why?, because you don't understand French?.
To be honest neither do I, but there is such a thing as subtitles and/or English Dubbing - and relying on the Hollywood dumb version is exactly whats wrong with the choice of cinema available at Multiplexes nowadays and what the modern-day international film industry is fighting.
This looks excellent, both visually in set-design and
I expect will have good acting performances from the cast. I look forward to seeing the English/dubbed version.
ManofSteel23 - 12/3/2013, 7:37 AM

DelTorite - 12/3/2013, 7:44 AM

It looks great and to all the francophobes here: vas te faire encule!

A new version of this comes out every [frick]ing year. There's a [frick]ing TV show on right now as a matter of fact.

I will say that I am a Gans fan. Like Christopher Nolan or Neil Jordan, the man is a [frick]ing artist. If nothing else he will make a gorgeous film.

However, the beast looks like a [frick]ing ewok. The whole point of the story is supposed to be that Belle loves him despite his severe appearance. For whatever reason, they've always tried to make him look like [frick]ing Aslan.

Once upon a time

There was a rich merchant

Whose preferred daughter was called Belle

Through a terrible tempest, the merchant lost all his fortune and his family was ruined

But luck smiled at them again

and (too fast}

What shall I bring you

- older daughters: (this and that) We write you a list!

and you?

- simply a rose

Lost in a forest, the father makes an extraordinary discovery

Incredible, all is on it/looking at daughters wish list

... more soon

As the original story is French and as the original movie is French and a masterpiece

1946: about nil CGI , still able to give you magical dreams

PsyGuy - 12/3/2013, 8:48 AM
This actually looks really good!...
Maia87 - 12/3/2013, 8:56 AM
You should watch more classic french movies instead of soulless US blockbusters (fast & furious, transformers, battleship anyone?)

At least french have invented the concept of cinema and regards it as a true art form, with NO stupid censorship. And I don't even talk about crappy sequels/prequels/reboots ^^
Googs - 12/3/2013, 9:12 AM
One of those times i'm thankful for a bilingual Canada. This movie looks fantastic.

and @gaikinger, lots have said it, but you're a twat.
RorMachine - 12/3/2013, 9:20 AM
The Beast does look a bit...cute! He should be more terrifying but then I guess this is a kid's movie at the end of the day.

But yeah, Gans is least visually. But Brotherhood Of The Wolf is one of my faves.
BlackIceJoe - 12/3/2013, 9:50 AM
The movie looks really beautiful and nice. I wonder how close it will follow the original story. I hope this movie get subtitled. I don't think it will get dubbed but as long as it gets subtitled I would gladly watch it. There is lots of great movies that I have seen that were subbed and I have enjoyed them. So I hope this one does too.
Highflyer - 12/3/2013, 10:07 AM
This actually doesn't look bad. It looks pretty goof to be honest.
Ceejay - 12/3/2013, 10:20 AM
His adaptation of Crying Freeman was also pretty good too don't forget!
DelTorite - 12/3/2013, 11:07 AM
Thank France for the blowjobs!

Fastestmanalive - 12/3/2013, 11:39 AM
LOL @Gaikinger
TheRationalNerd - 12/3/2013, 1:19 PM
Looks better than I thought at first. However I'm more interested in seeing Del Toro's version starring Emama Watson. I love his movie make-up its so realistic (Hellboy) and Pam's labyrinth are great examples! But I'm sure this will be great as well! :)

Need a trailer in American.
ScionStorm - 12/3/2013, 7:14 PM
This looks epic. But still, where is the part about Belle being a fairy princess? That the enchantress tried to have her assassinated as a baby. Where is the part with the whole Fairy Court that forbade Belle's mom to ever set foot in the mortal world again? Where is the part about the Beast's mother being a Warrior Queen who fought off invaders for damn near 15 years after her husband died?! WHERE IS THAT PART?

Seems like no one is interested in telling the original story.
ScionStorm - 12/3/2013, 7:33 PM
I guess this is a relevant place to share. Did this last spring. It's from the original story.
MightyZeus - 12/4/2013, 3:47 AM
@SimyJo, I never stated because the film is in french. I actually dont mind foreign films and i do watch subtitled films. Dont be so quick to judge.
BaronZemo - 12/4/2013, 4:54 AM
There is porn in the next trailer after the beauty and the beast! Hahah
