Nice! This trilogy might not be as good as the LotR, but it's still entertaining and I'm happy that we're able to experience another journey through Middle Earth.

I know people have their differences and opinions on these movies but I absolutely love them, both The Hobbit and The Lord of the Rings. I can't wait to see this!

Yeah for sure. I still think SDCC was underwhelming. We were all expecting way too much from the studios.

Heh, yet another Hobbit thread that gets completely taken over by news for another movie completely.

I'm saying this now since I most likely won't be here for the full teaser tomorrow, but I'm willing to bet any amount of money that the teaser will have little to no footage of the ACTUAL main character of this story: Bilbo.

Everything will focus on Gandalf, Sauron, Azog and the orcs, Thorin, and of course Smaug. Basically, anyone and everyone other than Bilbo. Which really sums up what's gone wrong with this entire trilogy. I'll never understand how anyone can love or even like a trilogy of movies that treats its own main character as if he were an expendable, minor, inconsequential supporting character.

I got caught up in the hype too. I actually convinced myself that Marvel Studios would release the Phase 3 slate. If they did, they'd have nothing to surprise us with in the coming years. I'm glad they held back.

Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice? Nailed it! They did what they needed to do and a bit more. Which is why I think everyone is disappointed. Next years SDCC is going to be Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice's big year. We'll get the real footage from the movie and hopefully more cast in attendance.

@Saurons Bane

It really makes me wonder whether Jackson and co. actually remembered how much the book was centered on Bilbo. I get the impression that they flipped to the chapter promising a big battle (FIVE armies? Phwoooaaaar!), and then threw it away when they realised that the entire thing was presented from the perspective of someone who wasn't even conscious for the entirety of the scene.
Facade - 7/27/2014, 1:32 PM
@SauronsBANE...I bet a shit-ton of people will see it and love it despite you or wether a thread on a CBM site gets taken over...lmao.

BlindJustice - 7/27/2014, 1:32 PM
I love how every thread turns into a flame war between Marvel and DC... And by love I mean hate.

This article had nothing to do with either of those companies, yet trolls gotta troll... I guess.
SauronsBANE - 7/27/2014, 1:33 PM
@TheAstoundingMan, Haha exactly.

There's a reason Tolkien didn't have a massive stone-giant brawl at the beginning of the story, or have a made-up grudge between Thorin and Azog, or show us where Gandalf went and what he was up to when he left the Company, or have ALL the Dwarves rush into Smaug's lair and lead him on a time-wasting, merry little chase under the Mountain, or actually show what happened with most of the Battle of the 5 Armies...because all of that would take away from the main focus of the story: Bilbo.

Jackson & Co doesn't seem to understand that, though. They're FAR more preoccupied with tying together EVERYTHING with LotR, and upping the stakes whenever they can to make it as BIG and EPIC as possible, on par with LotR. But he doesn't realize how much he's putting his main character on the sidelines with nothing to do IN HIS OWN STORY. I mean, what excuse is there for that? These movies shouldn't even be titled "The Hobbit" anymore.
SauronsBANE - 7/27/2014, 1:36 PM
@Facade, Okay? I never said: "yet another Hobbit thread that gets completely taken over by news for another movie completely. GOOD THING THAT MEANS NO ONE WILL EVER SEE THIS MOVIE OR LOVE IT."

I stated an accurate fact, and commented on how I felt about that. Problem?

BlindJustice - 7/27/2014, 2:37 PM
@tonytony - Yeah... I'd like to see that footage as well, but there's a time and place. And it's not here and not now. >_<

My family and I will certainly be at the theater on opening night for this though!
kinghulk - 7/27/2014, 2:58 PM
theilluminate- seriously? where is it and why did you post it in this thread and not the thread where it shows cap's broken shield?
DrunkenNukem - 7/27/2014, 2:59 PM
Bring it! love this films!
InfiniteMonkey - 7/27/2014, 3:44 PM
Cannot wait!
The sooner Peter Jackson is freed from all this shite the faster he can get one with Halo or BioShock or some other cool film.
digymastr - 7/27/2014, 4:49 PM
Yes these films are flawed but you know what? I actually enjoy them! Sure Bilbo isn't given as much focus as what most people wanted but the characters they do focus on are actually interesting and fun. So as individual stand alone films, I think they're funny, full of heart, and action packed.
