The Look Of Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson's HERCULES Inspired By IRON MAN 2's Whiplash?

"The best way to describe his Hercules is as if The Rock were cosplaying Mickey Rourke's Whiplash from Iron Man 2," says one lucky journalist who got to see a photo of a recent costume fitting that Dwayne Johnson took part in for Hercules. Read on for further details!

At a roundtable interview for G.I. Joe: Retaliation, Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson was quizzed about his upcoming take on the titular character in Brett Ratner's Hercules. What follows is a description of an actual photo that the WWE superstar and fan favourite actor showed Superhero Hype on his cell phone.

Johnson just grins. He's got a photo from his costume fitting for the upcoming Hercules and he's got no problem sharing it with the room. Sadly, we're not able to show off the actual image, but be prepared for a surprising new look for the blockbuster star. The best way to describe his Hercules is as if The Rock were cosplaying Mickey Rourke's Whiplash from Iron Man 2. He's got long hair and a long black beard on top of his characteristically massive physique. There's no telling if that's his costume throughout the film, but it's definitely a look that will surprise fans.

As long as you don't take the Iron Man 2 comparison too literally, this sounds like a really interesting and unique look for the actor. With filming set to begin within the next couple of months, be sure to stay tuned for more details (and hopefully images) from the film. The screenplay for Hercules was adapted by relative newcomer Ryan Condal from Radical Studio's graphic novel Hercules: The Thracian Wars.

From this, what I've got in my head is a sorta modern Kevin Sorbo could work if the director is good.
ThePowerCosmic - 3/23/2013, 6:00 PM
I loved Iron Man 2. Sam Rockwell was hilarious and awesome.

I'm interested in seeing Rock's portrayal of Herc, BUT, I have no faith in Rattner directing thu type of movie.

We'll see how thi goes. Th look sounds intriguing though.

I see Tobey went kinda crazy after Sony pulled the plug off Spiderman 4 ;)

Hey Roland, how do you post pictures in the comments?
SpideyQuad - 3/23/2013, 8:28 PM
Okay let me make sure I get this straight. Hercules will be dressed in rags, shirtless with tattoos all over his torso. Sporting a compact energy source, he will fight his way through various quests with the help of a pair of energy whips?

What's next… A giant spider? (I know, I know the spider was it necessarily Rattner's decision, still I couldn't resist.)

I just can't help but think how much better "Marvels Hercules" Using either of the 2 miniseries Layton developed of Hercules in the future would be. Those stories would probably translate better than this "train wreck" I am envisioning. Ratner's never been good with pure action movies, which this should be. What a waste of resources. I think I'd rather see Green Lantern 2

@jerryblake - lol. just tell him he's spider-man and everything will be okay

fistofthenorthstar - 3/23/2013, 10:00 PM
i would. the rock CAN NOT be luke cage. period. next.
yinyangpalms - 3/23/2013, 10:06 PM
The Rock looks pumped and ready in that pic to play the role of a penis.

If someone out there has a script about a guy and his family getting killed and his penis survives and goes after the is the time to try to sell the script to The Rock!
Thegeekygurl - 3/23/2013, 10:09 PM
@smartell511 It sounds like you want the Rock to knock on your bedroom door dressed as Luke Cage. KINKY!
Swiftsword777 - 3/23/2013, 10:15 PM
So ancient greece or where ever this takes place has tech from the future now?? WOW!Leave it up to Hack Ratner and we might even see a flying cars or spaceships show up in this flick.I really think this can be very fun film but the RAT is one of the worst things in film at the moment, even worst then micheal bay hell the guy is worst then joel schumacher.
smgmayhem - 3/23/2013, 11:34 PM
I swear man the things people say in these comment sections just astounds me sometimes to the point of pure blood curdling annoyance. First off he meant the style of Micky's hair not the suit he wears, and second, why is it bad that Hercules has long hair and a beard? There have been many depictions of Hercules in Greek mythology, in some he has black hair, and in others he has long almost golden hair which holds his power almost like Samson from the bible. But for some reason everyone seems to think he has to look like the Disney cartoon version LOL. Like I have said many times before, wait for the official pics or trailers etcetera... To present themselves before you all start going off like rage infested babies.

How is the Rock finding time to juggle being WWE champion with movies like Hercules, Fast 6, and No Pain
tripttwe - 3/24/2013, 12:49 AM
Soooo is the officially MARVEL's Hercules or what???
kgrice - 3/24/2013, 12:58 AM

TragicBronson - 3/24/2013, 2:10 AM
I love the Rock in most of the movies he's been in, but that statement...The Rourke one...Does that mean he looks like he's 80 with a really bad tan?
