The Rock Reveals A BTS Image And Story From An Iconic Moment In HERCULES

The Rock Reveals A BTS Image And Story From An Iconic Moment In HERCULES

Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson has taken to Twitter to reveal a story about committing to the iconic "I am Hercules!" scene so much that he blacked out eight times! Read on for details on that, as well as a behind-the-scenes video of him performing that moment in the Brett Ratner helmed movie.

Regardless of how good or bad Hercules ends up being, it will be worth watching simply to see just how much Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson has put into the role. What leads us to that assumption? Well, check out the video and brief story below to see exactly what we mean! Brett Ratner lost the goodwill of many moviegoers thanks to X-Men: The Last Stand, but with Hollywood's highest grossing actor in the title role, Hercules could be something of a redemption story for the filmmaker. It certainly looks like a lot of fun and the action appears to be top notch. Also starring Aksel Hennie, Rufus Sewell, Ian McShane, Joseph Fiennes, John Hurt, Rebecca Ferguson and Tobias Santelmann, Hercules is set to hit theaters July 25th, 2014. Are you guys excited for the movie?

I asked the prop department to lock me in with real steel chains that I couldn't break, so the performance would be real. When HERCULES finally accepts his fate of being the son of Zeus, it's THE epic moment of the mythology - and our movie. We shot this scene 8 times - I blacked out every time. Down to my knees. Well worth the fun pain.. this moment is iconic. Im excited for you to see it... #HercDontLikeBlackingOut #HappilyDoItAgain #HERCULESMovie

i thought the last stand was good. much better than iron man 3. there was a review i read where some silly tart gave im 3 a 5/5. ha!
Lozzy - 7/19/2014, 7:39 AM

Why do you have to be such an annoying twat?
Jollem - 7/19/2014, 7:40 AM
Lozzy - 7/19/2014, 7:41 AM
Seriously, why troll about IM3 on a Hercules article?
PAF - 7/19/2014, 7:42 AM
Highest grossing but still can't act. I swear idk what people see in him.

@Lozzy - i understand you really like marvel studios. i'm sorry if negative comments about their movies affect you. if you didn't already know, there are heaping mounds of negative comments about movies and comics and characters and all kinds off stuff on this site. from users to editors. this is a site that proudly displayed an article titled "99 reasons the dark knight rises sucked!" on their top stories. if you can't handle negative comments, i'd advise you to steer clear of the internet. at least message boards on the internet. maybe articles, too--because sometimes you get personal opinions in with the news :)

PAF.. Probably his amazing work ethic and dedication.
feedonatreefrog - 7/19/2014, 7:51 AM
This is the manliest thing I've ever seen.
DrKinsolving - 7/19/2014, 7:51 AM

Not on a Hercules thread

And I re-watched Iron Man 3, once you get over the Mandarin and you take into account Tony Stark's PTSD symptoms it's not that bad, happy there are a variation of CBM's out there

Jollem - 7/19/2014, 7:52 AM
@Lozzy - simply, because Josh felt the need to troll tasm 2 in his planet of the apes article. that's about it, really. he was the silly tart that gave the movie a 5/5. so..there ya go :)
Lozzy - 7/19/2014, 7:52 AM

I encourage people to have their own opinion, but some of the comments you say make you seem like a troll.
Jollem - 7/19/2014, 7:55 AM
@DrKinsolving - i think it's pretty crap even besides the mandarin fiasco. everyone has their own opinions. and that's okay
TheToecutter - 7/19/2014, 7:56 AM
JoshWilding - 7/19/2014, 7:57 AM
I'm sorry, I can't take anyone who clealy enjoyed The Amazing Spider-Man 2 and slams Iron Man 3 ("BECAUSE THE MANDARIN WASN'T A RACIST STEREOTYPE LIKE IN THE COMICS, MA!") seriously, so try harder next time Jollem. "Silly tart"? Jesus, no wonder so many of CBM's regulars don't comment when there are morons like you here now.
Jollem - 7/19/2014, 7:57 AM
would it make you feel better if i said i liked x-3 better than catwoman?
DrKinsolving - 7/19/2014, 7:57 AM

I agree and it is that simple.
Lozzy - 7/19/2014, 7:59 AM

You should just say you like X-3 and thats it. No need to start a flame war.
Jollem - 7/19/2014, 8:00 AM
like i said, Josh: there are so many more things bad about the movie besides the mandarin fiasco. the mandarin doesn't have to be a "racist stereotype" straw-man, either. that's shallow and petty thinking
AlexanderLykins - 7/19/2014, 8:00 AM
Nope. Both those movies sucked as movies. Iron Man 3 was a decent movie.
AlexanderLykins - 7/19/2014, 8:01 AM
Every single time I see the trailer for this movie in a theater, people laugh when he says that line. People aren't taking this crap seriously. They think it's one big joke.
DrKinsolving - 7/19/2014, 8:01 AM

No shit opinions are ok, but nobody needs to hear your 7 line comment about negative comments about certain movies, when you do the same shit when anybody mentions TASM 2. Maybe you'll start posting gif after gif again of TASM....
TheToecutter - 7/19/2014, 8:02 AM
What does Iron Man 3 and X-Men 3 have to do with a Hercules article?

Jollem - 7/19/2014, 8:02 AM
i think "silly tart" was much more respectful and civil than calling someone "legally retarded" for liking something

what kind of person makes fun of handicapped people that way?
Lozzy - 7/19/2014, 8:03 AM

I also can't take this movie seriously. Dwayne Johnson just looks so out of place.
InfiniteMonkey - 7/19/2014, 8:04 AM
Clearly he's trolling and why not just delete his comments.

Mine did when I was wondering why someone else's comment was deleted just because they did not agree with the article.

...And I was just wondering out loud.

This one is definitely trolling in an article that isn't even related to the subject matter. CLEARLY, there is favouritism regardless of who it is.
Its just how this site works I guess.
AlexanderLykins - 7/19/2014, 8:04 AM
Brett Ratner is a [frick]ing idiot.

AlexanderLykins - 7/19/2014, 8:07 AM
I respect Dwayne for doing this though. The guy worked his butt off for this movie.
TheToecutter - 7/19/2014, 8:08 AM

Niklander - 7/19/2014, 8:08 AM
I will see this movie seems like fun and seriously WHAT THE [frick] DOES MARVEL HAVE TO DO WITH THIS MOVIE?
AlexanderLykins - 7/19/2014, 8:12 AM
Ask Jollem.
Sitterson - 7/19/2014, 8:12 AM
@Jollem, this an article about Hercules, no one gives a shit about your opinion on a Marvel film, so shut the [frick] up.
SimpleeComplex - 7/19/2014, 8:16 AM
So is this movie based on Hercules thw Marvel character? Otherwise how is this a CBM and how do articles about it belong on CBM? Is it cuz Bret Crapner directed X3 and he is directing this also?? Don't get it. Movie looks like crap anyways, Rock's weave wig looks terrible. The CGI also looks cheap.
blackandyellow - 7/19/2014, 8:22 AM

It's an adaptation of The Thracian Wars comic.
Lozzy - 7/19/2014, 8:24 AM

This film is based on the graphic novel Hercules: The Thracian Wars.
NeoBaggins - 7/19/2014, 8:34 AM

He could have said "I AM A CHEESE CORN-DOG" for the same effect.
Grimfoe - 7/19/2014, 8:36 AM
Love the haters. This will likely be the best adaptation we've had of Hercules to date. Will it be perfect? Not likely! It will be an enjoyable pop corn flick. We focus too much on the negative. This will likely be a very enjoyable movie I can take my kids to. It will be less stupid than the new planes movie that I'm not taking them to see (thank God) and it will also have some really cool moments. The Rock is not the best actor out there, but he is very charismatic and fun to watch on screen.

Many of you are too young to remember the stupid stuffed animals we saw in our childhood with the Sinbad movies, Clash of the Titans and early adaptations of Hercules (or is it Heracles?)

Anyway, the worst CGI today is AWESOME when you put it in that context. I'm not sure how you all felt seeing Apes this last weekend, but it was the first time I've ever watch exclusively CGI characters in a scene and forgot that they weren't real. CGI in this movie will be very good. Don't go into it with an attitude and you'll enjoy the film.
AlexanderLykins - 7/19/2014, 8:40 AM
I will take that down upon request.
