After the recent success of Robert Stromberg's Maleficent, it seems Disney will continue recreating live-action remakes of their classic animated films, as they have just hired Twilight director Bill Condon to helm an upcoming film based on Beauty and the Beast.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, Twilight director Bill Condon has signed on to direct an upcoming live-action adaptation of Disney's classic Beauty and the Beast. The news comes following the theatrical success of Robert Stromberg's Maleficent, which hit theaters worldwide last weekend.
Condon's name has been circling the project for a few months, so it comes to no surprise that he joined the project, and if Disney are going for a musical take on the film, he has experience having directed the 2006 musical hit Dreamgirls. His most recent film is The Fifth Estate, which starred Benedict Cumberbatch and was released last year.
