Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment and Monolith Productions have released a special E3 trailer for Middle Earth: Shadow of Mordor, a game which will put players in control of Talion, a valiant ranger whose family is slain in front of him the night Sauron and his army return. Check it out!

In Middle-earth: Shadow of Mordor, gamers take on the role of Talion, a valiant ranger whose family is slain in front of him the night Sauron and his army return to Mordor, moments before his own life is taken. Resurrected by a Spirit of vengeance and empowered with Wraith abilities, Talion ventures into Mordor and vows to destroy those who have wronged him. Through the course of his personal vendetta, Talion uncovers the truth of the Spirit that compels him, learns the origins of the Rings of Power and ultimately confronts his true nemesis.
Every enemy that players face is a unique individual, differentiated by their personality, strengths and weaknesses. Through the Nemesis System, enemy relationships and characteristics are shaped by player actions and decisions to create personal archenemies that remember and adapt to the player and are distinct to every gameplay session. Gamers are able to craft their own battles, enemies and rewards within the dynamic world that remembers and adapts to their choices, delivering a unique experience to every player.

2D Boxshot Wizard v1.1

Middle Earth: Shadow of Mordor is set to be released on PlayStation 4, PlayStation 3, Xbox One, Xbox 360 and PC on October 7th, 2014. What do you think of the new trailer?

This is that Batman Dark Knight Rising game, right?

I'm sure it'll be just as good as the movie.

Looks solid but we all know that badass trailers for games usually lead to disappointment

What the [frick] is this?? This is NOT middle-earth! "Resurrected by a Spirit of Vengeance and empowered with Wraith abilities"?? BULLCRAP. This isnt Tolkien this is just God of War meets Assassins Creed. And dont get me wrong the gameplay looks sick and the Nemesis System would be awesome but as a diehard Tolkein fan I'm 100% not buying this. Nowhere in Middle-earth lore are there examples of powers and crap like this. A human-wraith hybrid? Not possible. I'd love for this game to work but this is a slap in the face to Tolkein and the incredibly rich and complex world he made. What a shame. What a tragic insulting shame.

It's sad that the CG Orcs in the trailer for this game look more believable than the CG Orcs used in any of the the Hobbit movies thus far.

This has literally nothing to do with the Middle-Earth that JRR Tolkein created.

And you all know the game play is going to be absolute ass.

Looks great, but that's not Middle Earth. Does look like an amazing game if I can turn my Inner Fact-Checker off long enough to enjoy it.

I'd rather they made games from the First and Second Ages than beat 'Peter Jackson's LOTR' into the ground.

This looks badass; the gameplay trailer is awesome. I'm sure it will do well and get a sequel. Maybe you cry babies can go give Christopher Tolkien a handjob.
Super12 - 6/5/2014, 4:34 PM
@Retro - exactly. There are way too many other epic characters and stories outside of LOTR trilogy that they couldve used, the possibilities were practically endless. But no, instead we get this...
