So here is what he dishes out.

It's a movie that is in no way a remake or a re-imagining or a reboot of the '80s version or the serial version. No Queen [music]. It is not camp in any way. We're going back to the original Alex Raymond [comic strip] scripts and imagining if he were living today, what would those strips be like?

We hired writers a year ago. I've been breaking story with them since I wrapped post on [The Crazies]. We've got an awesome, very long-form outline that they're now executing a script off of, which I should have in two months or so to the studio.

It will definitely be in 3-D, unless they come out with 4-D before then



Is there something wrong with me, if I say I'm not vaguely familiar with the character. I heard the name but never came across any comic strip or watch any of the movies. If I remember correctly was there an updated TV show, involving Lana's other Smallville boyfriend? Or am I talking about another show.

Well if this ever get made, I'll make sure that I'll watch it so that I won't sound ignorant whenever this topics comes along.

Salamat Access for the cool news. I would love to see a flash gordon film done right and faithfully.

There was a great DC miniseries back in the late eighties-early nineties or so. Would make a great starting place . . .

Nah, the DC one was crap, they've got the right idea going back to the original scripts. The stories were brilliant, and the art was fantastic, I'd love to see that aesthetic on the big screen.

Access if you want to familiarize your self they have a few of the omnibuses for free on google books. Sadly the first book is missing, but they have like 2-6 which is like 30 years of Flash Gordon.

I'm a big fan of the 1980 Flash Gordon movie. People can say what they want about it being campy and ridiculous, but thats the appeal for me. I love Timothy Dalton as Prince Barin, and I love the Queen soundtrack (which I have on vinyl). Hell, I even like the Buster Crabbe serials. That being said, I'm also game for another Flash Gordon movie. A more serious take would not offend me. I just hope the writers of this film are not afraid to throw in a few tounge in cheek moments.

I loved both the queen induced 80's version and the Buster Crabbe serials that i grew up watching with my grandfather. Those serials were really close to the source material, so if they had that love of the source and use today's technology then I'm all for it.
