Ghost Rider: Spirit Of Vengeance Script Review

<i>Ghost Rider: Spirit Of Vengeance</i> Script Review

Here's a script overview for the Ghost Rider followup, Spirit Of Vengeance in which where Johnny Blaze is in life, new enemies & allies he interacts with, and more is revealed. Check it Out

It's well know now that Sony/Columbia has a sequel to the 2007 Ghost Rider flop in the works, with production commencing as soon as this fall. And with Crank duo-directors Mark Neveldine and Brian Taylor at it's helm, many are curios of what's in store for Johnny Blaze's return, in addition to what the star Nicolas Cage revealed with MTV last month.

Exclusively from Comicus, a script review has emerged sharing a few details on the film's setting, plot points, and a new characters our Brimstone Biker will interact with. NOTE that the original review was in Italian, so the Google Translator was used and a few areas may be difficult to understand.

"After the success of the first film is not exciting among fans, Sony / Columbia Pictures will try again with what in effect is basically a sequel, though at the same time is the way to revive the character and the franchise some lightening issues that had covered the first film, especially as regards the presence of Roxanne, which does not appear in the script.

Johnny Blaze found years after the events of the first film, self-exiled from the world. In this way, hopefully, not having contact with people, able to control the spirit of Vengeance. Blaze is approached by Moreau, a monaco quite unusual part of the monastic order of Michael, the warrior angel. The Monaco but needs the special talents of former stuntman to trace a woman named Nadya and her son Danny, who must be protected at all costs, as there is on his trail Roarke, who is none other than an old knowledge of our hero (you certainly understand who they are) and is interested in the guy for a particular reason.

The script strongly underlines the tormented soul of Johnny Blaze since its first appearance. For he is a man who just wants to hide and who sees in his power a curse, more muted than in films directed by Mark Steven Johnson. The script focuses on the background in this way also "historic" that covers Ghost Rider, explaining in more detail to the viewer and the protagonist that the spirit of Vengeance is appearing more than once, and with different identities over the centuries. An interesting part of this working thanks to the characterization, creating a strong bond between the characters of Nadya, Danny and Johnny, also not forgetting Moreau, well shaded from start to finish. Only link with the previous film is a little flashback on the Origin of Ghost Rider, the covenant between Blaze and Mephistopheles.

A defect in particular, however, is to underline the main plot of "Mephisto" bad, or to Roarke, of course already seen in myriad other films in one way or another, and perhaps a little degrading, who expected more from this point of view. Ultimately the work is pretty good but could do better, also seen the one from which you started earlier. For the most passionate fans, there's a final twist, but much nerd. Not reveal more."

The script written by the famous David S. Goyer, seems far more interesting than the original film. Evidently, everything here may not actually end up in the final product. But Ghost Rider: Spirit Of Vengeance is expected to begin filming this Fall in Romania, in the infamous 3D!

I'm always willing to give Ghost Rider another try.
sweetre15 - 9/7/2010, 11:32 PM
Sounds pretty cool,so far. Hope it's good.
SHAZAM171 - 9/7/2010, 11:33 PM
Sounds great, as long as Nic Cage doesn't come back.
RedDevil - 9/7/2010, 11:41 PM
Ghost Rider is one of those characters that has so much potential of being a CBM hit. I like his story and the way David Goyer wrote it, it seems to be on the right path. I am a bit more optimistic about this now, but I want another actor cus Cage is OLD and not that great of an actor to me.
BrotherStarkofMABMindz - 9/8/2010, 12:04 AM
@vxMaverickxv I am too but not Nic Cage, I'm not interested
Bayoknight - 9/8/2010, 1:48 AM
It will work well as a series..Look at Supernatural has a ghost rider fill.. where a second season can bring the spirits of vengenace , Dan Ketch
LEEE777 - 9/8/2010, 2:08 AM

Denn1s - 9/8/2010, 3:11 AM
sounds interesting. i liked the first although it could have been better. and i suppose danny is danny ketch right?
AlexDeLarge87 - 9/8/2010, 3:24 AM
Interesting to see where this is going! I hope they kick Cage out of this after this movie and continue with Danny Ketch!... If its good?... If not?!... REBOOT WITH JOSH HOLLOWAY!

ElGuason@ Holloway as Johnny Blaze all the way!

Cage is great actor when he gets good roles, just watch Kick-Ass, Wild at Heart, Vampires Kiss, The Weather Man, Matchstick Men, Adaptation, Bringing out the Dead, 8MM, Leaving Las Vegas, Raising Arizona and Rumblefish!... But he is not Johnny Blaze!!

Denn1s@ I think so?... But then again?
AlexDeLarge87 - 9/8/2010, 3:50 AM
My favorite Ghost Rider villains:
Vengeance, Blackheart, Centurious, Ebenezer Laughton aka Scarecrow, Blackout, Mephisto, Madcap and Death Ninja
level1paladin - 9/8/2010, 3:55 AM
Let's hope this sucks a lot less than the first one.
marvel72 - 9/8/2010, 4:19 AM
how to make a decent ghost rider trilogy in five easy steps.

1.reboot ghost rider

2.get rid of nic cage

3.have guest heroes the likes of daredevil, blade, punisher, morbius or spider-man

4.have bad ass villains such as vengence, black heart, blackout, scarecrow & so on.

5.have marvel studios put in more creative input.

final result amazing ghost rider trilogy can begin.

Boy, you gotta love google translator.

Personally, I kinda liked the first one. Sure it coulda been a lot better, but so could a lot of other CBMs. I am hoping the new one will be really good. Or not, hey if it tanks again, wouldn't that make it easier for Marvel to get the rights back?
Ronnie11 - 9/8/2010, 4:59 AM
just reboot it..the first movie was garbage material..
CorndogBurglar - 9/8/2010, 5:29 AM
how did you guys make any sense out of that description? my god it was like a 7 year old wrote it...
Sparrowsabre7 - 9/8/2010, 5:40 AM
Danny = Ketch. It's gotta be.
GrimeKid - 9/8/2010, 5:41 AM

PieEyedPiper - 9/8/2010, 6:00 AM
The only way this is any good would be to get rid of Cage. He makes it too campy.
claybo4131 - 9/8/2010, 6:01 AM
I wouldnt call the first film a flop, it got 52 million over Presidents Day weekend in 2007 and ended up getting 115 million in the US, what do you guys consider a flop? Jonah Hex, that was an epic flop indeed.
PieEyedPiper - 9/8/2010, 6:18 AM
@claybo4131, as far as money goes, it wasn't a flop, but in many CBM fans, it was. Then again, how often does Hollywood ACTUALLY please us?!
MassExecutions - 9/8/2010, 6:18 AM
Yeah, the first one wasn't a flop, it was just TERRIBLE. I hope they make the Ghost Riders personally more clear in this one. I was always a fan of the 90's deadly serious one. Yes, I know that was Ketch, not Blaze.

At least the Crank guys ought to have some visually interesting action. Still, based on the first one I don't think there is anyway this can get me in the theater.

I thought Skinner was kind of an interesting villain, even though I only saw him in one comic.
DasBoot - 9/8/2010, 6:25 AM
I remember hearing 5-10 years ago a movie with an average budget wasn't considered a smash hit unless it made about 125M. I'm not sure how much GR1 cost to make, but considering it made 115M I'm pretty sure the studio considers it a flop! BOYCOTT!!!!!
claybo4131 - 9/8/2010, 6:26 AM
I was wondering how you define a flop, as in box office revenue or quality of movie? If it is quality of movie, then Twilight is a flop
PieEyedPiper - 9/8/2010, 6:50 AM
@claybo4131, couldn't agree more. I thought Twilight was terrible. Very hard to watch. Miserable. Wanted to gouge my eyes out. And cut my ears off.
DasBoot - 9/8/2010, 6:51 AM
Claybo4131@ Lol if that was how you consider a movie a success, then Borigins was one of the biggest flops of all time even though it made money. It could have made a billion and I'd still think of it as a bomb ha
PieEyedPiper - 9/8/2010, 6:52 AM
I hate getting so excited for Superhero movies, because so many of them are bad. So far the only ones I've been pleased with were both new Batman movies, Iron Man 1, Transformers 1, Punisher and Punisher War Zone, the newer Hulk movie, andddddd....that's about it.
DeadPoolLax - 9/8/2010, 7:03 AM
ehhh. danny is obviously dan ketch. and at the end soemthing happens, like his mom dies, and danny ends up making the deal and becoming the ghost rider, leavin johnny blaze in peace. movies over, everyone go home.... but it should be a decent film
BmanHall - 9/8/2010, 7:13 AM
The first one wasn't the best but I could definitely go for a sequel.
AlexDeLarge87 - 9/8/2010, 7:29 AM
Lad@ The history of Ghost Rider has been pretty colorful!:D lol
Ryguy88 - 9/8/2010, 7:30 AM
Ummm, Ghost Rider wasn't a flop, although it was pretty crap it made over $150 million in North America. Good article though.
AlexDeLarge87 - 9/8/2010, 7:31 AM
Mass@ Skinner rules!:)
claybo4131 - 9/8/2010, 7:32 AM
@PieEyedPiper Yeah I wanted to shoot myself and hang myself from a tree, can the police not charge Twilight for being Cruel and Unusual Punishment?

Anyhow 228 Worldwide for Ghost Rider isnt all that bad.
PieEyedPiper - 9/8/2010, 7:34 AM
@claybo4131, yeah that about sums up my position on Twilight as well.

I agree, moneywise, Ghost Rider wasn't bad, and I did like Sam Elliot in it, but I was just a bit let down I suppose by it.

MassExecutions - 9/8/2010, 7:42 AM
@PieEyedPiper - Yeah, but you see, if you have Sam Elliot and Peter Fonda as supporting actors in a movie YOU SHOULDN'T BE ABLE TO MAKE IT A BAD MOVIE. And yet, they did. Mark Steven Johnson is no longer allowed to direct comic book movies.

@AlexDeLarge666 - High Five!
fanboy76 - 9/8/2010, 7:56 AM
Provided it is treated like the hulk sequel this could be good. I mean the Ang Lee Hulk and the first cage GR films weren't bad they just needed tweaking. Just like the next GR needs to be tweaked to be worth a damn. It could have been darker and not so campy.
PieEyedPiper - 9/8/2010, 7:59 AM
@fanboy76, Nic Cage IS campy, ha. X him for someone less campy. He tries to be toooo edgy and tooo twitchy.
Christuffer - 9/8/2010, 8:10 AM
Yay! Maybe this will be a better hit. But I liked Nic Cage. Sometimes Campy is cool. But I will admit that
Ghost Rider ought to be deeper and darker and sometimes maybe funnier than Nic Cage can deliver
jazzman - 9/8/2010, 8:37 AM
its amazing they going forward with this movie but how comes no film studio try and develop a Spawn reboot movie for crying out loud
Ranger14 - 9/8/2010, 8:48 AM
Sounds like a number of you don't keep up with the news in regard to Ghost Rider. Cage is going to be returning for the part.
