Ghost Rider: Spirit of Vengeance spluttered to an unimpressive third place at the US and UK box offices this past weekend and currently sits with a lowly 15% approval rating on Rotten Tomatoes. It's hard to find any review actually praising the film (although the brilliant Idris Elba seems to have hit the right note with critics) and even fans of the Marvel comic book character have been left feeling disappointed and downright indifferent was arguably just a terrible movie. Of course people will moan. No doubt you'll all moan about David Slade's Daredevil and the new Fantastic Four. Same as everyone moaned about Punisher War Zone. I remember all the harsh stuff people were saying about First Class and the only reason that wound up unscathed is because it was clearly an above par comic book movie. Normally it's too dark, too comedic, not enough action, too much violence, they didn't respect 70 years of backstory to the letter. If a studio listened to you lot none of these would ever get made so sit the [frick] back and enjoy the fact that we live in a time where this stuff is even possible.

Idris Elba and the Ghost Rider scenes were awesome but the rest of the movie was garbage. Reminds me of Episode One and how epic Darth Maul was compared to the rest of the shitty movie

the movie was pretty bad I think nic cage is pretty much done as an actor the dialogue was terrible the actions scenes were ok but the first one was bad but this was worse

I loved it, it was mindless fun with great action and great cgi. A lot of times those are the best movies. A fun escape from reality

the gr effects were great...was the movie...no. i didn't walk!and i have on many cb movies! i would love to see a complete rebot of ghost rider, i believe there is a great movie waiting

This wasn't even mindless fun. Mindless fun is something like Transformers. Apart from the design of GR the writing, directing, and acting was terrible. It also had some of the silliest moments of any superhero movie (spinning GR scene Nic Cage freak out scene) and it had the worst villain in superhero movie history. Like seriously? The power of decay??? Plus the devil was so lame in this film. I hope the directors never come near any film again.

This movie became a big let down for me when Ghost Rider came out for the first time and started doing some kind of dance pose and then boppin back and fourth like he was diggin the tunes on his Ghostpod. Then it just didn't get any better from there.

As much as I like humor in my CBM, I didn't think this one was done very well. The effects were really good and I liked the way Ghost Rider looked.

What I disliked least about the first one was the villains. I was really hoping that the second one would correct that but it didn't. Villains in the first one were white guys with white make up on, villains in the second one were white guys with white make up on.

I was really hoping that they would represent Mephisto correctly in the second one. Well maybe I will get a good one in the third movie. LOL

I could go on about the many other things that were wrong with this movie but I wont. Either you like it or you don't. This time I am with the majority and don't. But I am hopeful a better one will be made.

@Lert, I wouldn't mind seeing another spawn movie. That could be interesting. Still haven't seen GR:SOV, but i may go catch the early bird speacials or something.

@mothra, a little over dramatic arnt we, it seems like some of the people on here hate on the movies that are most like the books, just like Punisher war zone i thought it was right off the pages of many of the books

I liked Punisher Warzone. This movie was shit. No one can convince me otherwise. I would have been fine if it was a shit ton of Rider kicking some ass. But he was in this shit fest for about 4 minutes. And the first action scene he did absolutely nothing except bob around. The pissing fire scene was ridiculous too.

Punisher warzone had action atleast. Ghost rider had a bad plot and horrible acting. Yeah some of the special effects were cool but the narration and the lame jokes along with cage's crappy acting made me want to walkout. This movie just seemed like Drive Angry except cage would somtimes turn into ghostrider and nde scenes were left out

I'm sure this movie is getting a lot of hate but really I'm glad I didn't let that stop me from seeing this movie I would have really missed out. Call it Ghost Rider's version of Punisher-Warzone. Just saw it, I thought it was pretty good. It was intended as a B-list comicbook movie and it's pretty much right near the top in that capacity. Visual effects, action sequences, that's how you make a movie look like a comic book. The animated intercuts were fun almost Sin Cityesque. Really if your thinking about watching this movie check it out for yourself. Cage did a much better job this time around actually the whole tone just felt better this time. The humor in it is at a much darker tone. The fights are better than in the 1st movie. The opening sequence is the only time the 3d is really worth it. Overall I'd say 3.5 out of 5

I thought it was better than the first GR movie. Still not a good movie, action scenes and cgi were great. The editing and direction was mediocre and that's being kind. Nic Cage should just forget about being any kind of hero and stick to making regular drama films.
