HOMELAND's Navid Negahban Joins The Cast Of ARROW As 'Al-Owal'

He played the deadly 'Abu Nazir' in the first two seasons of Showtime's Homeland, and now Navid Negahban has joined the cast of Arrow as a new villain 'Al-Owal'; a character who will make his debut in the episode called "League of Assassins". Read on for details!

E! News has revealed that Navid Negahban - who is perhaps best known for starring in the likes of 24 and Homeland - will play 'Al-Owal' in the fifth episode of season two of Arrow. According to the site, "Awwal isn't just your average foe as he has major ties to a group of baddies DC Comics fans know very well, which also connects him to Malcolm Merlyn...Meticulous, driven, and deadly, Al-Owal, whose name in Arabic means "The First," is after someone very close to Oliver. Oh, and the man knows how to handle a scimitar." That's an intriguing description, and it should be interesting to see how Negahban character will fit into the possible (and rumoured) introduction of Ra's Al Ghul's League of Assassins. What do you guys think of this latest casting addition to the popular CW series? Be sure to sound off with your thoughts below!

Yup season 2 is going to be epic!

I really hope he isn't Ra's and is instead a different DC character. I like the character Ra's, but we just saw him in the Batman movies and there are so many other great DC villains that haven't been seen in live action and could be behind things.

Season 2 is shaping up great, really excited for it. Give Ollie an updated costume and bow (makes sense with him trying to change from being the "hood/vigilante" and it sounds like a perfect DC show.

Ra's is presumably going to show up, could this be him?

Love this show and glad season 2 is only improving on how already great the show is

I hope they scraped the idea of using Ra's and will use this Al-Owal instead.

If "Green" Arrow doesn't have enough of his own villains and supporting characters, then they should create some.

League of Assasins? Heck yes. Ra's Alghul? Not yet. And probably not ever for Arrow. They should allude to him but not introduce him, he's too big for Arrow in my opinion and we just saw him in Nolan's movies.

I thought there was an embargo on any Batman related characters.

You guys really are out of it this is a horrible show , the majority of you guys much be teens . Tell me one great element of the show? the dialogue is very bad the acting is the worst !

Could this be the show's version of Rustam from Suicide Squad?
charlie2094 - 8/22/2013, 11:45 AM

Horrible in YOUR opinion. The show has been surprisingly successful and well received. 8.1 on imdb, 73 metacritic etc. It started off "meh" but really came into it's own. The majority of the characters are interesting, Ollie, Slade, Tommy, Malcolm etc, the action is always fantastic, Ollie and Diggle is always great, had some good story lines, the cinematorgraphy was great, it always looked good etc. The actings generally good, Amell was a bit "stiff" at the start but improved pretty quickly but the majority of the supporting characters, were fine.

In our and many others opinions, the show is great. Not perfect, but a good watch which got better as it went and the second season looks to be even better

Arrow is a fantastic show, TV doesn't get much better than the episode, "The Odyssey".
gmoney0505 - 8/22/2013, 12:24 PM
Makes sense for Ra's to target Star City. His whole purpose is to restore balance and order to the world and Star City right now seems like a perfect spot for him to execute this.

Hope Season 2 will be great as Season 1 was.
Arrow Action!!!

If you're into comics for the great "dialogue", you're in the wrong genre. I love the action, and a good number of the supporting cast like Manu Bennett, which is more than enough for me. Seeing how the show did great without you liking it, you're welcomed to stay the f'ck away.
Gmoney84 - 8/22/2013, 1:19 PM
I really want to watch this show.
TheSoulEater - 8/22/2013, 1:25 PM
I want to see the court of Owls!!!!

Can't wait. Only problem with this show now is they need to replace this Colton Haynes fella with another dude. His face does not blend in well with this show.
SoundWave - 8/23/2013, 12:53 AM
10000% he will be Ra's al Ghul.
GetsugaTensho22 - 8/23/2013, 1:55 AM
His name ought to be spelled "Al-Awwal" and pronounced "Al Uh-ooh-ww-uhl". NOT Aaal UHWAAAAAAAAL.
HecticHector - 8/23/2013, 5:40 AM
Okay, so... Who's gonna be Barry Allen?
