SPARTACUS Alum Tapped To Play Amanda Waller In ARROW

"The Wall" has been cast in the upcoming second season of the CW's Arrow and its another former Spartacus alum. But this won't be the classic comic version of the character, they've gone for the new slim and sexy version...

According to TVGuide.com, actress Cynthia Addai-Robinson, another Spartacus alum, has been cast in the DC Comics Villain role as Amanda Waller. Robinson who played Crixus' lover, Naevia, will join her former co-star Manu Bennett, who currently plays Slade Wilson aka Deathstroke on the show. Manu Bennett was recently upgraded to series regular for season 2.

The role of Amanda Waller was previously filled by Pam Grier in Smallville, Angela Bassett in Green Lantern and CCH Pounder in the animated Justice League series.

Personally, she's just another pretty face and looks kinda young to play "The Wall" in my opinion. I was hoping for someone a tad bit older and more intimidating. I guess they're basing her on the new 52 version of the character from the comics which I guess makes sense for a show on the CW.

hmmm interesting!
Knightrider - 9/4/2013, 12:44 PM
So young, pretty and skinny. I know the New52 has made her this way, but to earn the nickname TheWall they really need to look indimatating.

TheBumblingIdiot - 9/4/2013, 12:45 PM
she was on the vampire diaries as well
anthonyEstark - 9/4/2013, 1:00 PM
Not what I would choose, but whatever. I want the tough person type of Amanda Waller.
GizmoEl - 9/4/2013, 1:05 PM
I thought Smallville's choice was pretty great. I was hoping for a heavy set black woman, but oh well. This is the CW afterall
TheDARKestKNIGHT - 9/4/2013, 1:17 PM
@Sotojuiceshit you should watch your mouth Scum.

@rng86 Considering this is TVGuide's "exclusive," would you mind removing that from your headline?
rng86 - 9/4/2013, 1:41 PM
@DCMarvelFreshman yes sir!
DCMarvelFreshman - 9/4/2013, 1:44 PM
@rng86 Thanks

I honestly still think Monique should've been asked to play Waller

Fanboys are awesome. Every time someone gets casts "He/she is too ugly, too fat, too good looking, too skinny, too white, too black"
Well guess what? Are you the guys paid millions to film movies and make these casting decisions? No? So just leave it to the professionals.
During a surgery or whatnot, you're not gonna tell the doctor "you're doing it wrong." Just STFU and leave it to the professionals. That's what they're paid for.

@Nomis...Joseph Goebbels?
DioFoRio - 9/4/2013, 2:10 PM
I'm with ya Nomis..I like my ladies to have a lil meat to meaty...but in shape. These fools don't know shit ; )
fceeviper - 9/4/2013, 2:58 PM
Per the new 52, I like this choice.
sameoldthing - 9/4/2013, 2:59 PM
She is lovely but it's sad that a "big" lady cannot be given a role/job that shes a perfect for.
Amanda Waller should be depicted like the original & allow women of all sizes to be seen on TV.

Having said that, this new addition to Arrow is another reason I will watch with my pants off.
So many sexy ladies to see...I will close my eyes when shirtless Amell is on. Ha!

I think anyone of sub-model hotness immediately disintegrates when they step through the door to CW casting calls. Even the extras on CW shows look like they got lost on the way to the catwalk.
typicalfanboy - 9/4/2013, 3:54 PM
not idris? what the hell man. that guy'll never get a break...
TheDARKestKNIGHT - 9/4/2013, 4:04 PM
@SotoJuiceShit doesn't matter who or what I am. Discrimination based on a persons appearance is wrong and you're obviously an insecure idiot for resorting to it.
thewonderer - 9/4/2013, 4:30 PM
The same people who post naked pictures of skinny women again and again here are complaining about this.

*sigh*

Improve the lay-out of your article before some power user comes along and deletes it just replace it with their own.

And there's nothing wrong with her being fit. She's a freaking bad-ass, why the [frick] would she be obese and overweight? Let me guess, you want her to start talking like "Uhmmm Girrrllll, you aint havin dat up in MAH Biz-niss!" ??
I get that she was portrayed like that in her early years, but she's gotten an upgrade and there's nothing wrong with that.
Mrsinister - 9/4/2013, 6:15 PM
Not the best casting choice. And I am a huge fan of Spartacus!
gmoney0505 - 9/4/2013, 8:07 PM
She may be fine but she can be intimidating. Good choice for her.
Owlman88 - 9/4/2013, 9:51 PM
just give me freaking Barry Allen
Zessus - 9/4/2013, 10:14 PM
In a world where we're told it shouldn't matter what you look like, flack is given because a character is not overweight.

So Amanda went on Nutrisystem or Jenny 20 or whatever, lost 60 pounds, and suddenly she's trash... GOD, I love this planet
EarOne - 9/4/2013, 10:33 PM
on that photo, she looks pretty badass..how come they don't just RECAST Storm with a younger (and better) actress. i luv Halle..but, after 3 movies, it's enough to see and accept that she just don't FIT the character.
loki668 - 9/4/2013, 11:59 PM
This is Amanda Waller before the government awarded her "free cheeseburgers for life" for "services rendered to her country".
Battabing - 9/5/2013, 1:26 AM
Amanda Waller isn't called "the Wall" simply because she's fat.
It has everything to do with her hard ass personality as well as being an abbreviation of her last name. And we know that she didn't start out fat. The murder of her family is what led to her letting herself go.

So yeah, while a diversity of looks would be appreciated, she's still a hard-ass bitch that nobody likes and all the villains are trying to kill.
loki668 - 9/5/2013, 1:54 AM
@Battabing

She, also, wasn't "awarded" with that nickname due to her "svelte figure" either. Being beefy helped. Eating beefy helps her stay beefy!!
Excel - 9/5/2013, 2:45 AM
I enjoy arrow better than smallville. less emo the better. never watched Spartacus. did she bring intensity to her character on the show?
CherryBomb - 9/5/2013, 2:55 AM
They don't call her The Wall for nothing.
She needs to be big and heavy, and intimidating not a gorgeous thin woman.
superman7 - 9/5/2013, 6:28 AM
When she came onto spartacus, that became the most annoying part of the entire series... I'm not excited about this. She's hot, but SO F*CKING ANNOYING!
Dedpool - 9/5/2013, 7:02 AM
Not a good choice. All the previous choices have been good but this is not right. Pam Grier on Smallville and Angela Basett in GL were perfect, and CCH Pounder voicing her animated version was amazing. SHeryl LEe Ralph did a decent job on Young Justice. Should've gotten someone like Gina Torres.
rng86 - 9/5/2013, 8:43 AM
@superman7 I know, I liked the previous actress who played her before the recasting.
rng86 - 9/5/2013, 8:46 AM
@dedpool CCH Pounder would be awesome. She voiced the character in the JL animated series and she does TV after all. Now that Warehouse 13 is ending, I'm sure she's available.
chris043 - 9/5/2013, 8:46 AM
Oprah wasn't available?
RexDartEskimoSpy - 9/5/2013, 8:59 AM
Too bad Green Lantern sucked so hard; Angela Basset was perfect: attractive without being stick-thin, authoritative without being unbearably bitchy.
