EXCLUSIVE: First Look at Bzzd from Green Lantern Movie

EXCLUSIVE: First Look at Bzzd from Green Lantern Movie

Take a gander at director Martin Campbell's favorite Lantern Corps member, in this CGI rendering for the live action film.

It has already been revealed that the entire 3,600 Green Lantern Corps members who patrol the similarly numbered sectors of the universe will cameo in next summer's live action superhero adaptation, Green Lantern. To top it off, at least two dozen alien Lanterns will have center stage roles; one of which is Bzzd. For those who aren't familiar with the character, here's a brief bio: Although Bzzd was no bigger then a housefly, his tremendous willpower allowed him to be a capable fighter in the Green Lantern Corps. Bzzd's power was evident in his penchant for creating constructs that were massive in scope when compared to his diminutive size, like locomotives and full scale roller coasters.

And here is your first (albeit unfinished) look at the character, who happens to be a favorite of the film's director, Martin Campbell:

Hawksblueyes - 8/14/2010, 7:28 PM

Killer scoop Poni. ;D

This is the first character we have seen from the film that has a more even tone to the green in his costume. Is that just for Bzzd or is that how the green will look on the final Hal Jordan costume also?
tekjock - 8/14/2010, 7:30 PM
what about Soranik Natu
GreenLanternFan - 8/14/2010, 7:30 PM
When you say two dozen alien lanterns, one of which is Bzzd, take center stage, does that mean they actually have lines?
Acerimmer1 - 8/14/2010, 7:33 PM
"Bzzd"... Really?
skidz - 8/14/2010, 7:33 PM
I've wondered how he was going to look onscreen. Can't say I'm disappointed.
elcaballerooscuro92 - 8/14/2010, 7:36 PM
i wonder if the chipmunk gonna be one of those cameos?
patriautism - 8/14/2010, 7:37 PM
HOLLY CRAP! It looks just like him, except one thing.
Where are his wings?
They probably just haven't been added yet.
Creature - 8/14/2010, 7:37 PM
I haven't seen Bzzd in the comics. Maybe he's some lame comic relief but eh I'll give him a try.
I just have to say I really appreciate your GL news Poni! Best on the net!

I'm sorry. My first inclination is laughter. Bzzd is the Reepicheep (Narnia reference) of the GL universe. Question: is this completely finished? I'm also looking forward to seeing the GL uniform with more contrast.

Joe6Pack74 - 8/14/2010, 7:57 PM

@peralta: Maybe if you read the article before the picture, or knew the character you'd know that Bzzd isn't giant.
longbowhunter - 8/14/2010, 8:13 PM
Bzzd looks great. Glad some lesser known lanterns will be in the movie.
tricklove187 - 8/14/2010, 8:17 PM
This is a good way to make the mainstream audience not familiar with Green Lantern to say "seriously?".
UnfriendlySpidey - 8/14/2010, 8:18 PM
@patriautism its a freeze-frame. Bzzd is in mid flight. If you look close you'll see the blur of his wings :)
punisher23 - 8/14/2010, 8:23 PM
Bzzd is looking very good, can't wait to see him kick some a$$!
Suffertree - 8/14/2010, 8:37 PM
Yesssss, Bzzd is gonna be the coolest character in the movie, seeing as they messed up Kilowog.
GreenHalJordan - 8/14/2010, 8:40 PM
THEY DIDNT MESS UP KILOWOG! its 1 picture guys, it can still be edited. I personally like how they did kilowog, (granted the earlier pics were better) BUT, they couldve completely killed his character by makin him worse.
lalosuper3001 - 8/14/2010, 8:46 PM
Blee947@ Obviously you have never read the green lantern comics so you have no idea why the rest of us are glad to see Bzzd. This is a comic book-to-movie forum, so if you are ignorant of such, don't bother wasting your time here. Just look at the picture posted by Justice Leaguer and you can see this insect is not a Pixar based character.
JLU51306 - 8/14/2010, 8:49 PM
Agreed @lalosuper3001.

Bzzd appearance is nothing more than minimal, I'm guessing. The reason I think, and probably the reason Martin Campbell likes the character, and has him appear in the movie is, that will-power comes in all shapes and sizes. Which is a really cool thing to show off in the GL film!

I have two questions though: First, does Bzzd where a ring? Is it on his lower abdomen where we can't see it? Second, was this the GLC member we were suppost to see in Green Lantern #59?
Anthrax - 8/14/2010, 8:51 PM
the cgi is starting to look like crap first kilowog btw its just an opinion
Protonite - 8/14/2010, 8:52 PM
@blee - lol.....weren't you conspiring about boycotting this movie on some of the Deadpool articles? (or maybe that was someone else with a Batman avatar)
