I thought it was pretty cool. I have a feeling it will be a lot like the first Avengers movie in the sense it will be uncharted territory.
Shaanyboi - 4/17/2015, 3:25 PM
I thought it was awesome. What is this "underwhelming" nonsense? For a movie that's a year away, that was damn interesting teaser.
RedRobinDC - 4/17/2015, 3:26 PM
The only thing "underwhelming" is that they haven't released it for free yet
Calculon - 4/17/2015, 3:28 PM
I have to admit it may have been a bit underwhelming in terms of introducing anything new, but I still loved it. The cinematography is outstanding, miles above what we saw in MoS, and even better than I could have imagined. While I liked MoS, the dialogue in the teaser was better than what was in that whole movie. And the [frick]ING BATPLANE! I think the marketing will kick it up the closer we get to the release.
ComicsDoneRight - 4/17/2015, 3:30 PM
A. It's not.
B. The real trailer is this Monday. Maybe that's why you're unsatisfied?
RoastedRay - 4/17/2015, 3:30 PM
I think it was super cool. I feel like people might be underwhelmed because the Star Wars trailer dropped the same day and it was so dope.
robometrallador - 4/17/2015, 3:31 PM
we have 13 months left people, leave some space for the movie itself
HugoStrange87 - 4/17/2015, 3:32 PM
Because this site has way too many overly critical micro managing nerds. Oh wait, that's the whole internet.
kenjim152 - 4/17/2015, 3:33 PM
I found it awsome and now theta are people saying the actual teaser will be a lot different...
CyricTheMad - 4/17/2015, 3:36 PM
I think it's the quality of the trailer that put most people off. For me, it was a C, but that's more to do with my dislike of the need of the "Bat-Crutch" to sell a movie. I'm sure it be a solid action film, though. And Affleck can bring the drama.
PsychoticSpaceRaccoon - 4/17/2015, 3:36 PM
Maybe the HD version will change my mind, but I found this teaser too damn dark and brooding. I would have liked more of a variety in its palette.

Also, the dynamic between the Supes/Batman fight seems inverted here, which I'm not sure works better.

Batman is supposed to be the outsider, the vigilante, the nail sticking out of the wood, so to speak.

Superman is supposed to be the golden boy, the boy scout, and the guy who at least thinks he's standing up for a more formal justice system.

But like every other fanboy and/or critic here, I'll be there opening weekend, so who cares?
CyricTheMad - 4/17/2015, 3:39 PM
I do reserve the right to change my opinion after the official release of the teaser, though.
IronRuhail - 4/17/2015, 3:40 PM
I couldn't see anything so i need a HD version before i make up my mind
DoctorDoak - 4/17/2015, 3:42 PM
I have not noticed an underwhelming response. If anything public reaction has been incredibly positive.
DerekLake - 4/17/2015, 3:42 PM
I thought it was awesome. It perfectly conveys the fundamental problem with having a Superman in a conflict-ridden, anarchy-driven world. He is literally the most powerful man in the world, who by himself makes armies and arsenals irrelevant. There is [seemingly] no one to hold him accountable, no one to ensure that he doesn't one day take over the planet. That threat is quite serious, and far from "fun". But the trailer barely shows Superman or Clark. So there's more to the film, and we got a bit of the more positive views in it. Was the trailer dark? Absolutely. Man of Steel was melancholy, this is dark. But, that's necessary for the story, given what happened in Man of Steel and Batman's intervention.
DoctorDoak - 4/17/2015, 3:43 PM
And probably because most people haven't seen the SDCC teaser/statue set piece.
DarthBob - 4/17/2015, 3:43 PM
It was underwhelming because the director and cast are underwhelming; also, DC/WB have no clue what they're doing.
DerekLake - 4/17/2015, 3:44 PM
Also, it should be noted that Batman seems to be the "villain" here. The mention of cruelty, the ominous voice, the excessive violence, and the severe threat all point to Batman being portrayed as the antagonist, not Superman, whose pained expression we see in the up close shot.
docgl - 4/17/2015, 3:52 PM
The trailer for Avengers age of Ultron is Awesome the trailer for Star Wars The Force awakens is Awesome this is bleak depressing and not at all exciting. For years i was a DC fan i defended DC against Marvel. Now there is no defense. Marvel puts out fun movies that remind me why comics are fun DC puts out bleak movies trying to be meaningful! i just want comic book movies that are like the comic book
maxx - 4/17/2015, 4:03 PM
Marketing a film that is:
- one year away
- in HIGH demand
Is a difficult f-ing thing. I think this trailer was exactly what it needed to be.
Chewtoy - 4/17/2015, 4:04 PM
It was pretty lackluster for me... Too dreary, too stylized... A lot of it looked like a video game.
CAPTAINPINKEYE - 4/17/2015, 4:05 PM
It's not fair to BvsS to write this article yet. None of us have really seen the trailer. We saw it through someone's phone from a weird angle and the sound was not the greatest. All this takes away from the experience. But the movie is like a year away. They're not going to show all amazing scenes now. I can't wait for this movie.
Amazing512 - 4/17/2015, 4:09 PM
Batman's voice is shit.
LehnsienZad - 4/17/2015, 4:14 PM
do we know who the villain will be in this movie yet??
LehnsienZad - 4/17/2015, 4:14 PM
looks sweet too!
Koala0226 - 4/17/2015, 4:15 PM
A+?! Really?...Ok. This was a solid D for me...
Canary - 4/17/2015, 4:16 PM
I give it a C - I think we should have had a glimpse of Lex and Wonder Woman...
MonstrousMia - 4/17/2015, 4:16 PM
I thought it was great at setting up the general premise. The world hates Superman and Bats is going to make him bleed. Good enough for me for a first trailer. It gets a B in my book.
MrShow - 4/17/2015, 4:17 PM
Underwhelming. The religious/God angle of the beginning sequence is tired. Superman is too dark, he should be about hope and light. The ending needed to be them flying towards each other fists ready or something like that.
HiddenReality - 4/17/2015, 4:31 PM
Had some interest before the teaser, but now...meh. I don't see how this would lead to a JL movie? Is it possible to have negative interest? Got fooled by MoS. Won't get fooled again with this. Pass.
Kevwebsz - 4/17/2015, 4:35 PM
Idk about that Batman roboty voice
SAMURAI36 - 4/17/2015, 4:38 PM
I absolutely disagree with this article. The trailer was amazing, & they are giving us precisely what they promised us all along.

The whole "Marvel movies at better, because they are fun & goofy" argument is tired.

Oh, & it's pure conjecture that the SW trailer is somehow better. Talk about predictable; light sabers, fighter jets, droids, M-Falcon, old ass Chewie, old ass Han solo. Where's the excitement in that?? Same ol' predicable stuff.

Same thing with Avengers; the only thing that looks remotely interesting, is the Hulk vs IM fight. Ultron doesn't move me as a vilain, & I could really care less about the rest of the Avengers.

But hey, I'm sure everyone else will like it, & good for them.

But to say the BVS trailer is underwhelming, is utter BS.
charliebitmeeee - 4/17/2015, 4:40 PM
I never post on here, but why the [frick] are people already trying to give this a bad rep? It's a TEASER people. Stop comparing it to Star Wars too, this was Star War's 2nd official trailer while this was our first "official" teaser for BvS. Stupid Marvel fanboys getting their jimmies rustled over the fact that this movie will mark the day that DC will take its throne back. Stupidest click-bait article I've ever seen. Was reading all the comments last night about the 20 second leak and everyone just about shit their pants. Now all of a sudden people are "mixed" because they didn't give away the entire plot and shit in it? Come on, 20 something trailers later I can already break down exactly what will happen in Age of Ultron. Stupid [frick]wit whoever made this post.
BillWonka - 4/17/2015, 4:41 PM
I don't see what the problem was...the movie doesn't come out until much did you expect?
DocBantam - 4/17/2015, 4:46 PM
DarthBob you have it spot on. Snyder is awful, I really don't see what people see in him! Everything is dark in Snyder world isn't it? - you can tell this from his pedigree (Dawn of the Dead, Watchmen, etc) - dark, dismal and depressing. Where's the lightness of touch that made the first Superman films so much FUN? Where's the geeky, loveable Clark Kent who made the first Superman seem, well, human? Gone it seems replaced by the dreary and sad-looking Cavill. And by the way, I love Batman but don't even get me started on Affleck - I haven't seen a film of his I have liked yet and yes, I include Argo in that! He virtually killed Daredevil with that awful fight scene with Jennifer Garner.
Yeah I don't think this looks good for this film and have to agree that Marvel's Civil War will like, literally, kick this one into the middle of next week
MoreGambit - 4/17/2015, 4:48 PM
I tend to hate everything Zack Snyder and this trailer was better than I expected. Of course, that may largely be because it sounds like Ben Affleck was able to figure out a better Batman voice than Christian Bale's, which is a big relief.
I dunno, the teaser is maybe a little heavy handed, but it works. Makes it seem like the movie has substance. That's the thing, though: Snyder movies often SEEM like they have substance in them from the teasers but turn out to be superficial, undercooked, and all about style. I'd actually like it if he surprised me this time, though, and this movie turned out to be more than an underealized cool concept. There were times during this trailer I felt like this movie might have actual characters in it, so I'm looking forward to it more than I was before.
BlaackBolt - 4/17/2015, 4:50 PM
People, (fan boys), are so whiny… It's annoying. MOS was awesome and this trailer is super awesome!
mrbanner - 4/17/2015, 4:56 PM
It was what I expected, average. As a fan of both Marvel and DC I want this movie to be great but my expectations are low. Lately DC makes great animation and average movies with the exception of last Batman trilogy. Marvel makes great movies and average animation with the exception of EMH. The both have their niches .
MoreGambit - 4/17/2015, 4:59 PM
@samurai36: The whole "Marvel movies at better, because they are fun & goofy" argument is tired."

That's a mischaracterization of what most people who think the MCU is superior so far are saying. While we may enjoy some of the humor, and there's nothing wrong with a movie having both serious AND comedic elements, the point is that Marvel is better because Marvel doesn't think you have to BAN humor nearly altogether in order to prove how "serious" you are. Take Daredevil on Netflix, for example. Pretty hard to say that "fun and goofy" is a prominent feature of this latest entry in the MCU. It's actually pretty gritty. Yet characters like Foggy and Karen still joke with each other and have some of the same awkward foibles that real people do. They go through pretty dark stuff but keep their good humor, which shows that they haven't been broken by how grim things get for them. Captain America: Winter Soldier also featured heavier themes but featured characters that make jokes or do amusing things sometimes, cos guess what: real people do that sort of thing sometimes. A serious project can still have humor. Different elements can complement each other within the same movie or show. Marvel gets this. DC hasn't entirely figured it out yet. THAT is the argument most people who like Marvel better are making. You don't have to agree with it, but you could at least try to understand what you're disagreeing with.
