Ryan Reynolds Wins People's Choice Award For Favorite Movie Superhero

Green Lantern may have under performed at the box office, but it still looks like people love them some Ryan Reynolds after the actor took home the People's Choice Award for Favorite Movie Superhero.

The People's Choice Awards aired last night and Ryan Reynolds upset the masses to take home the Favorite Movie Superhero award. Reynolds defied the odds and won the award in a category that was stacked with Marvel Superheroes. The nominees also included Chris Evans as Captain America, Chris Hemsworth as Thor, James McAvoy as Professor X, and Jennifer Lawrence as Mystique.

There has been some buzz that Warner Brother's is still planning on doing a sequel to Green Lantern despite its lackluster box office showing. Do you think with the character and Ryan Reynolds pulling in the People's Choice award that it will add fuel to that fire to give the franchise another shot? As usual leave your comments in the comment boxes below. To see a run down of all of last night's winners click HERE.

Wha...okay, as a Green Lantern fan I'm *a bit* glad for this, but really? McAvoy, Hemsworth, and Evans (he should've won it IMO, and oh, I'm a Cap fan, too) all gave a lot better performances.

AlcoholicA - 1/12/2012, 6:50 AM
I wonder if he made any jokes about his own movie sucking ballz.....

eh, nevermind it wasn't that bad.
Brashlight - 1/12/2012, 6:52 AM
THE PEOPLE HAVE SPOKEN.....and apparently they are retarded....I love RR but damn guys, you should only be in this category if your movie was actually good. His performance was solid but that movie was god aweful!
THORGodOfThunder - 1/12/2012, 6:53 AM
ARE YOU KIDDING ME????? Green Lantern was BRUTES!!
Mysterion - 1/12/2012, 6:54 AM

Not surprising. People in general are idiots:)

Seriously though RR wasn't that bad in GL, at least he wasn't the main reason it sucked. But yeah, everyone else in that category deserved that award more.
Wildaniel - 1/12/2012, 7:00 AM
Jenifer Lawrence was robbed!!!
Greengo - 1/12/2012, 7:01 AM

I don't know why batmanrises got the boot.

In my professional opinion... he wasn't a troll.

It shouldn't count when trolls falsely report you. A bit of an over reach there, IMO.
HellsHammer - 1/12/2012, 7:02 AM
So where were these people when it needed help at the box office?

WTF?...............................................................LOL really boys and girls, GL was not even close to being the worst CBM movie. It’s not even in the top 10. I personally loved the move so shoot me. Good for you RR!!
RunDTC - 1/12/2012, 7:07 AM
general audiences are dumbasses anyway.
SuperSomething616 - 1/12/2012, 7:08 AM

I liked GL...but Hems & Evans were vastly superior as Thor & Cap...

People are stoopid!!!
VinzClortho - 1/12/2012, 7:09 AM
Its a popularity contest and that's it. It's based on who has more appeal. Fassbender all the way! He will win an Oscar for something one day!

Well the people have spoken. WB, make GL2 happen!
dahamma - 1/12/2012, 7:19 AM
WHAT!!!!!!!!?????? I lost hope in the human race

Greengo - 1/12/2012, 7:19 AM
This is pretty silly

But I do hope it influences a sequel.

I mean if G.I. Joe got one why not GL?
PsyGuy - 1/12/2012, 7:19 AM
Yes! i voted for him
Berger45 - 1/12/2012, 7:20 AM
Green Lantern had so much potential. It still does. Ryan Reynolds was actually pretty decent as Hal. The script was terrible however but there was some epic moments. The oath was great. Abin Sur scene was also epic. I think a potential sequel can restore good faith and show the world the incredible mythos and character that is Green Lantern. I have no problem with Reynolds winning the title here. All superhero movies last year wasn't near the top as they should've been. X-Men First Class was beyond Thor, Cap and GL. Green Lantern should've been nr 1 however. It's a shame, really.
dahamma - 1/12/2012, 7:20 AM
Forget this mindless selection, Hemsworth should have gotten it
Tevii - 1/12/2012, 7:23 AM
Peoples Choice means in order for the PEOPLE to have an opinion PEOPLE have seen it to make a judgement, and given its performance MOST PEOPLE never saw it.

BUT maybe this will help the morons at WB give the sequel a chance with a better director, lower budget and DEFINITELY NEW WRITERS
SpiderBat209 - 1/12/2012, 7:25 AM
They felt sorry for him. It's the only explanation. :[
dahamma - 1/12/2012, 7:25 AM
WB had to pay this through lol
foxwarrior88 - 1/12/2012, 7:28 AM

To be honest it should have been between James McAvoy and Chris Evans.
KNIGHT3000 - 1/12/2012, 7:30 AM
Just goes to show how people know NOTHING about GL, they are all just a bunch of Reynoldsuckers. And believe me, I'm actually a fan of Reynolds, but seriously, he can only play himself when he doesn't have a character driven story.

Not to mention that among all the actors playing Superheroes last year, Reynolds was furthest from the actual character.

Okay.. like.. huh? Now I know where the voting people from Florida went when they realized they couldn't help W anymore.
hoodedjester - 1/12/2012, 7:40 AM
and this is what happens when teeny bop girls vote on such matters. GL sucked and the acting - horrible. This gets ranked slightly higher than Clooney's batman in my opinion.
JordanKing - 1/12/2012, 7:41 AM
The Green Lantern film was very poor, but Reynolds himself did a fine Hal Jordan. Personally, I thought C. Hemsworth shoulda won it for Thor, but I didn't think Evans was that good as Cap.
KNIGHT3000 - 1/12/2012, 7:43 AM
EVERYBODY did a better job than Reynolds last year... Just goes to show, that its all just 1 BIG popularity contest. WACK!
redleaf - 1/12/2012, 7:44 AM
Wow, huge disconnect between fans and the GA. Reynold's Hal was too much of a douche. They should have made him more likable. Would have improved the movie a ton.
thalidomide - 1/12/2012, 7:45 AM
Just wanted to know, did he himself accepted the award? LOL
ISleepNow - 1/12/2012, 7:51 AM

The Peoples' Choice Awards has been a joke for decades now. This is really no surprise.
