Very enlightening, up until now I hadn't been certain what common social protocol was when some randomer tries to play frisbee with you. Oh yeah, great guardians stuff too

Can't wait for this movie and the buzz about it is crazy.

-It was on Jimmy Kimmel.
-It already had 10 million views on YouTube.
-The social media reaction, including reaction all over the internet, look extremely positive.
-All of the trailer reviews look extremely positive.
-Bradley Cooper brings the uppity Oscar-type crowd.
-Vin Diesel brings a lot of the action-type crowd.
-Zoe Saldana will be a character for women to enjoy.
-Chris Pratt is coming off of Lego Movie and Parks and Recreation. He is an extremely loveable guy.
-Dave Batista has the WWE.
-Benicio Del Toro, John C. Reilly and Glenn Close in a comic book movie will no doubt draw interest.
-So many diverse backgrounds from the general audience perspective.
-This movie also appeals to kids like crazy.
-The fact that this movie doesn't take itself too seriously just works.
-Also the show is coming out before the movie. That alone will hook in more kids.
-It has an all-star cast.
-It has the Marvel brand.
-Feige and Joss have said it looks outstanding.

Did I miss anything?
MontanaGriz - 2/22/2014, 3:27 PM
This video is so, so much better than the intro video IGN put out for GOTG a little while back. But it is MrSunday so what did I expect?
MisterNiceGuy - 2/22/2014, 3:30 PM
@420yoloswag. You need to lay off the reefer. Nothing you said makes any sense.
AlexanderLykins - 2/22/2014, 3:30 PM
Oh yeah, I did. Blue Swede's "Hooked On a Feeling" sales/downloads have risen 700%. The song is much like the "Everything Is Awesome" song in that it is stuck in everyone's heads now.
IUsedToBeThecase - 2/22/2014, 3:30 PM
The trailer still sucks.
AlexanderLykins - 2/22/2014, 3:32 PM
The second trailer will satisfy us comic book fans. We saw a Teaser Trailer that was designed to introduce the team. The next trailer will no doubt be one more suited for people who already know the characters.
AlexanderLykins - 2/22/2014, 3:33 PM
The movie poster is awesome too. Star-Lord will be this generations Han Solo.
AlexanderLykins - 2/22/2014, 3:33 PM
I think that's all the awesome stuff so far.
MisterNiceGuy - 2/22/2014, 3:34 PM
and I made up a new game around all of the hype with this movie. determining who was actually a guardians of the galaxy fan before this movie was even a thought, and the people are just posers but claim to be die hards.
AlexanderLykins - 2/22/2014, 3:46 PM
I'm a fan of the earlier incarnation. My dad has almost all of the older Guardians comics. I dug them up awhile back and gave them a read. When they announced Guardians of the Galaxy initially I thought we were getting the old team. I thought I was going to have the jump on a majority of people. My dad has sold a few since for upwards of $150! I know the backgrounds of the newer team but have only read Annihilation. I still have some reading to do. I really liked Annihilation but really don't see that being brought to film. Ultron is already going to be in Avengers: Age of Ultron and I don't
think Marvel will want to use him again.
AlexanderLykins - 2/22/2014, 3:48 PM
I wonder if Marvel would be willing to trade other properties for Silver Surfer and Galactus? Or if Fox would be willing to listen. I want a sequel with Silver Surfer.
BoneSawIsReady - 2/22/2014, 4:13 PM
Condorman from a bygone era!!
AlexanderLykins - 2/22/2014, 4:16 PM
Lucky. My dad is long since out of the comics world and it was only a few years ago that he showed me his old stash. He has a few of the Tales to Astonish that he just couldn't sell. I meant Annihilation: Conquest too. I have read the second and fifth issues of Abnett and Lanning's run and plan to buy the others off of the Marvel Digital Comics shop. The cool thing for me is that I shadowed Brian Michael Bendis at Portland State for a little over a month. I grew up in a suburb of Portland, Hillsboro. I got to talk to him about the older Guardians team which was one of the coolest experiences of my life. I guess you could say I was in the right place at the right time. The fact that he is teaching at the University of Oregon, my sisters alma mater, is just so darn cool.
AlexanderLykins - 2/22/2014, 4:18 PM
Do you know what James Spader's contract is like? Is it a multi-film deal?
wookiefit - 2/22/2014, 4:26 PM
Pretty good. Found out a few items I was not aware of. I'll be the first to admit that I'm not fully aware of this team. I've only read stuff they were in from time to time.

Hope they do Rocket right. That's my only real concern.
MightyZeus - 2/22/2014, 4:46 PM
Thank you for this informative experience. I pretty much know everything there is about Guardians of the Galaxy.
thewolfx - 2/22/2014, 4:58 PM
Starlord is half alien

Why are they downplaying that?
KingEmperor - 2/22/2014, 5:00 PM
Honestly, I grew up with Marvel comics and I've never heard of GOTG until Marvel Vs Capcom 3 came out. The reason is because I've never been a real fan of Cosmic Marvel (though I love Silver Surfer and well aware of the Kree, Skrull, and Shi'ar Empires). But my brother loves Cosmic Marvel and got me to read the Annihilation Saga. Now my interest for GOTG has peaked and I'm pretty hyped for the movie, along with the big names attached to it.
Inhuman - 2/22/2014, 5:45 PM
If they make Guardians 2 and Guardians 3 in Phase 4, they should continue to add new members to the team. Guardians 2 should add Adam Warlock and Captain Marvel and have Kang The Conqueror be the villain. Then a Ms. Marvel film would have Captain Marvel die and transfer his power to Carol Danvers. Then in Guardians 3, Ms. Marvel, Nova, and Hyperion should be new members and they fight Shuma Gorath
mgeoff88 - 2/22/2014, 5:45 PM
Thanks for this! The video was very informitave. I'm a new fan of GOTG, so I learned quite a bit from that.

I thought it was a nice touch that Gamora's cybernetic implants showed up in her body scan. A reference to her origins in the comics.
Inhuman - 2/22/2014, 5:53 PM
Phase 4

(2018) Guardians Of The Galaxy 2 (Captain Marvel and Adam Warlock are new members to the team and they fight Kang The Conqueror)

(2019) Ms. Marvel (Captain Marvel dies and and transfers his powers to Carol Danvers and she fights the Kree)

(2019) Inhumans (They fight the Skrulls)

(2020) Planet Hulk (Thanos teleports Hulk in the battle in Avengers 3 and everyone thinks he was disintegrated but he wakes up on Sakaar)

(2020) Nova (Kang wipes out the Nova Corp in Guardians Of The Galaxy 2 and Rich Rider becomes the first Nova since that event. Fights Sphinx and Diamondhead)

(2021) Guardians Of The Galaxy 3 (Ms. Marvel, Nova, and Hyperion become new members and they fight Shuma Gorath)

RRA - 2/22/2014, 6:01 PM
AlexanderLykins - if I'm Marvel I'm feeling decent that with GOTG's first public exposure that it's gone rather well. Still alot of marketing to do because Marvel wants a hit and not the next SCOTT PILGRIM or PACIFIC RIM.

Next trailer, I predict:

(1) Marvel pushes that same "from the studio that brought you..." line that they used on the poster. Make people realize that this is part of the same tradition as the MCU.

(2) More Rocket/Groot awesomeness. Like many others, I think those two could steal the show. People are intrigued about a raccoon going Rambo on top of a walking tree. Lets hope they have great scenes to work with to use for the trailer. Make people quote them endlessly until opening weekend.

(3) More plot, probably a quick cut to the Thanos scene in AVENGERS when the characters talk about the great big baddie out there.

(4) Seal the deal for the masses and nerds.
sicknimon - 2/22/2014, 6:09 PM
I'm happy people are looking in to who these characters are. Somebody mentioned something about wannabee die hard fans. You can tell them by the "LOVE GOTG, but this movie better not be a humorous movie". Some people are morons. -owns everything from annihilation to annihilators
CptShellhead - 2/22/2014, 6:58 PM
Brilliant! It was awesome, could just show my wife and kids instead of letting them getting their mucky fingers on my TPB's. Lol

PeterDarker121 - 2/22/2014, 7:20 PM
Anyone remember a user on this site (who may or may not still be here) who did a series of articles last year chronicling the history of this version of GOTG? They were extremely exhaustive, but were really well written, digestible and could have functioned as a "GOTG for Dummies." He needs to repost them because I've been looking for them and I'm sure others would love to read them as well!
AlexanderLykins - 2/22/2014, 7:42 PM
