As Dawn of the Planet of the Apes hits a milestone after opening in China this weekend, we also have updates for you on Guardians of the Galaxy, Hercules, Lucy, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles and Transformers: Age of Extinction. Check it out!

Where to begin? Well, after a disappointing summer at the box office in North America, international numbers have made a bigger difference than ever as the blockbusters above each strived for success this year. Dawn of the Planet of the Apes opened with an impressive $47 million in China this weekend, sending its worldwide total up to $611 mllion. You have to wonder then just how much of a boost Guardians of the Galaxy will get when it debuts both there and in Japan this coming October, especially with a current worldwide total of $547.7 million. The Marvel Studios movie has grossed $273.1 million overseas, just a little less than its domestic haul of $274.6 million. Could we be looking at a run of close to $700 million worldwide? $650 million at least!

Meanwhile, Lucy has now passed $150 million internationally, giving it a cume of close to $270 million. That's a fantastic result for a film which has received mixed (but mostly positive reviews) and could change Marvel's mind about that Black Widow spin-off. Faring not quite so well is Hercules, the sandals and swords epic featuring Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson in the title role with X-Men: The Last Stand's Brett Ratner directing. Despite making a respectable $170 million worldwide so far, it hasn't exactly blown away the box office as some initially expected a movie like this starring the charismatic wrestler turned actor might. However, a number of countries have yet to show the film. Now, in a Michael Bay related update for you, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles is closing in on $300 million worldwide with a current haul of $278 million. Way ahead of course is Transformers: Age of Extinction which is still the only 2014 release to hit $1 billion.

Guardians of the Galaxy and the Planet of Apes deserve more.
Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles deserves a "little" more.
MrCBM56 - 8/31/2014, 11:12 AM
What about Step Up?
PAF - 8/31/2014, 11:14 AM
Lucy did great for an R rated film with a female lead and literally no promo. For the most part I enjoyed it except the end.

im sad with GOTG internationally... i really thought we would go to see it more than america cause america really are weird. they went to see grown up over pacific rim.

maybe it was marvel that sold people on GOTG. what ever it was im just really happy its done really well.

wont last thought cause hunger games and the hobbit are gonna beat it domestically.

According to a Warner brothers announcement we should be getting a portion of the titles for upcoming Dc movies by the end of August
JAC - 8/31/2014, 11:24 AM
@ArkhamCrusader @TheTrueBatfleck When WB announced the 9 release dates, they said by the end of the month we'd have some of the titles so... yeah. It's confirmed.
Sulti1274 - 8/31/2014, 11:24 AM
@Sipprelle i'm sure the movies are Aquaman, Wonder Woman, justice league and shazam since they have registered websites but that's just a thought
ArkhamCrusader - 8/31/2014, 11:25 AM

Yep, and Interstellar is gonna beat it, too.
ATrueHero1987 - 8/31/2014, 11:26 AM
After seeing all these movies this summer...I ready to own them on Blu Ray....GIMME!!!
ArkhamCrusader - 8/31/2014, 11:28 AM

Yes, they are, but it doesn't mean that they're already confirmed.
WB is trolling us...
SageMode - 8/31/2014, 11:31 AM
Anyways, back on topic.

I think GOTG is definitely hitting pass the domestic $300m mark by the end of its run. That's awesome.
Sulti1274 - 8/31/2014, 11:32 AM
@ArkhamCrusader lol i hear you
we will just have to wait and see
PAF - 8/31/2014, 11:32 AM

kinghulk - 8/31/2014, 11:35 AM
sipprelle- where did you hear that? i havent seen any official announcements
bobevanz - 8/31/2014, 11:35 AM
What time today @sipprelle?
JAC - 8/31/2014, 11:36 AM
@JredTheRed Those websites have been registered for years.
Nickk - 8/31/2014, 11:37 AM
Lucy is just.......Sad
JAC - 8/31/2014, 11:38 AM

@Bobevanz I said that I'm going off of what was officially said.

"Along with the new date for Dawn of Justice, Warner Bros. also added nine other untitled DC Comics adaptations all the way up through 2020, and Dan Fellman teases that “some of those untitled DC movies should begin to be announced later this month,”

If he said "later this month" then that means today.
JredTheRed - 8/31/2014, 11:38 AM
@sipprelle - oh ok
JAC - 8/31/2014, 11:38 AM
@M0D0K Cool story kid.
JAC - 8/31/2014, 11:39 AM
@JredTheRed I don't think we have to worry though. Those will probably be announced anyway, regardless of if the domains are recent or not.
kinghulk - 8/31/2014, 11:39 AM
sipprelle- thanks i wonder at what time they will announce them.
Nickk - 8/31/2014, 11:39 AM
can you remind me and people when they announce it today
JredTheRed - 8/31/2014, 11:39 AM
@sipprelle - he also said "SHOULD begin to be announced"
Nickk - 8/31/2014, 11:42 AM
JAC - 8/31/2014, 11:42 AM
@JredTheRed Yeah, most people are assuming today, and hopefully everything goes as planned.
marvel72 - 8/31/2014, 11:42 AM
great seeing guardians & apes doing so well,f*ck the turtles & transformers.

as for the dc movie announcements do you really think they're gonna announce any upcoming movies or the slowest news day of the week sunday?
Rulk - 8/31/2014, 11:49 AM
@TheTrueBatfleck @Sipprelle - Yeah guys I don't think they would announce anything on a holiday weekend unfortunately. Not enough exposure. Unless during an event or comic-con... I would imagine an announcement like that would be planned during the week where news sources and website traffic is at its highest.

PAF - 8/31/2014, 11:53 AM

Yea it did terribly for an R rated film with a female lead, no promo and a budget of $40 million while also beating a film with a male lead who did tons of promo. Terrible.
PAF - 8/31/2014, 11:55 AM
People should really take a PR 101 class to see how the industry works...
