Djimon Hounsou Says He Hated Wearing His Costume For GUARDIANS OF THE GALAXY

Hounsou plays Korath the Pursuer in Marvel's Guardians of the Galaxy and while filming he says that his costume was "painfully uncomfortable!" Hit the jump to check out more!

In a recent interview with E! Online Guardians of the Galaxy star Djimon Hounsou took the time to talk about how uncomfortable he was wearing his suit for Korath the Pursuer. "That was a lot of work," Hounsou said. "It was five hours of makeup on a daily basis and then the wardrobe was uncomfortable [...] I mean, painfully uncomfortable." Hounsou went on to explain how he can deal with the five hours of makeup but the costume itself? Once you put it on, you're sort of like rigid [...] There was not a lot of moving around… I dreaded going into the costume. Once I was in the costume, I was in a bad mood." Being in a bad mood probably helped towards playing his character. Either way i'm sure we all can't wait to see the brand new trailer that is going to premiere this Monday and for the movie to be released!

Marvel’s Guardians of the Galaxy expands the Marvel Cinematic Universe into the cosmos, where brash adventurer Peter Quill finds himself the object of an unrelenting bounty hunt after stealing a mysterious orb coveted by Ronan, a powerful villain with ambitions that threaten the entire universe. To evade the ever-persistent Ronan, Quill is forced into an uneasy truce with a quartet of disparate misfits–Rocket, a gun-toting raccoon, Groot, a tree-like humanoid, the deadly and enigmatic Gamora and the revenge-driven Drax the Destroyer. But when Peter discovers the true power of the orb and the menace it poses to the cosmos, he must do his best to rally his ragtag rivals for a last, desperate stand - with the galaxy’s fate in the balance. Marvel’s Guardians of the Galaxy is presented by Marvel Studios and stars Chris Pratt, Zoe Saldana, Dave Bautista, Bradley Cooper as the voice of Rocket, Vin Diesel as the voice of Groot, Lee Pace, Michael Rooker, Karen Gilian, Djimon Hounsou with John C. Reilly, Glenn Close as Commander Rael and Benicio del Toro as The Collector. Distributed by Walt Disney Studios Motion Pictures, the film opens August 1, 2014.

Ramiel - 5/17/2014, 9:22 AM
The cast for the first Thor movie had the same complaints. Oh, well.

Wanna hear the must hilarious (satirical) theory regarding the movie I have ever read? Here's the exact quote:

"Djimon Hounsou plays Korath the Pursuer, a really really minor Kree bad-ass who used to be blue in the comics, but they blew the body paint budget already on ladies and wrestlers, which is how a lot of people in Hollywood blow their budgets, and all the leftover paint got used on characters in other films from other studios. So now yet another of Hollywood's big name black leading men probably can't be Black Panther. Hi, Idris Elba! Hey Anthony Mackie! So is this all a conspiracy to make sure there are no black actors left who can play Black Panther? Does this mean that we'll end up with a Black Panther played by a blond white actor named Chris? Chris Pine? Chris O'Donnell? Chris Martin from Coldplay? We think so."

(Different studio) but even Christain Bale had problems with the cowl to the Batsuit. He claimed it always gave him headaches.

try working in a factory, ya pansy. actors. pfft. what divas
JordanKing - 5/17/2014, 9:27 AM
Djimon Hounsou is a horrible choice for Black Panther. The character is meant to be in his prime, certainly not 50!
WinterSoldier33 - 5/17/2014, 9:28 AM
there is still chadwick bowman
TelaVizion - 5/17/2014, 9:31 AM
He went through what Knights and other went through back in the day wearing armor.
XF14 - 5/17/2014, 9:32 AM
He wouldve made a great Black Panther in his younger days.
AlexanderLykins - 5/17/2014, 9:34 AM
At least they didn't paint him blue. Count your blessings. Still a bit upset about that.
dellamorte1872 - 5/17/2014, 10:08 AM
That's laughable. He barely wears makeup, especially like RONAN whose intended to be the race
dellamorte1872 - 5/17/2014, 10:09 AM
He had to wear contacts o no it was torture yet the other guy was literally painted blue? Look at DR who's girl? Is she complaining?
DaVinci31 - 5/17/2014, 10:14 AM

But at the end of the day you're Korath . . . how is that not a sweet pay off?
MarvelWeiner - 5/17/2014, 10:50 AM
I wonder if he would do a cbm again?
MarvelWeiner - 5/17/2014, 10:52 AM
Five hours of make-up just for a live action cartoon character, what waste of time.
ProfessorX - 5/17/2014, 11:03 AM
Why did they change Korath's race to Sakaaran? In the comics he was Kree...
BatzFTWfan - 5/17/2014, 11:30 AM
@ProfessorX: When they said he's sakaaran ? He's actually a Kree as its known. I feel Korath will be undeveloped in movie.
OneBadDay - 5/17/2014, 12:27 PM
I wanted him to be the Panther. :(
sameoldthing - 5/17/2014, 1:28 PM
He's just stating what he went big deal.
I'm sure he enjoyed cashing the check.

NovaCorpsFan - 5/17/2014, 2:10 PM
Yeah, it doesn't look too comfortable does it.
NovaCorpsFan - 5/17/2014, 2:11 PM
Korath is still a Kree. The Sakaarans are working for Ronan.
Ramiel - 5/17/2014, 6:40 PM
I'm curious why Korath and Algrim were never in makeup.
loki668 - 5/18/2014, 4:43 AM
There's another article where Hounsou's costume says that his balls smelled like rotten, yeasty, biscuits. Sounds like another celebrity feud brewing!!
skabeds - 5/18/2014, 11:29 AM
"Man, I wouldn't want his job. He had to sit in a chair for 5 HOURS while someone put make-up on him and then wear that painful uncomfortable costume- I mean look at it, it looks like it fits tightly around the chest - and walk around in it for several hours over the course of a few months. All for what? A messily six figure income? No sir. No thank you. I'd much rather collect my $47k fighting fires, saving lives, risking my life in almost 100 lbs of gear every day for the rest of my life" -said NO firefighter EVER.

I swear, some people just don't know how good they have it.
Trickwil - 5/19/2014, 10:12 AM
Bummed he's not Kree...Or maybe they did the different skin colored Kree. But I was under the impression the MCU was doing all big all blue Kree.
Trickwil - 5/19/2014, 10:13 AM
skabeds-More teachers have died in the line of duty in the town I live in then Firefighters in the last 10 years, we get paid half as much for 3 times the education and way less job security...just sayin.
