Gamora's Looking A Little Blue In New GUARDIANS OF THE GALAXY Concept Art

Gamora's Looking A Little Blue In New GUARDIANS OF THE GALAXY Concept Art

The amazing Andy Park has unveiled yet another early Gamora design from James Gunn's Guardians of the Galaxy, and it appears that Zoe Saldana (Star Trek) would have at one point been required to don blue make-up before plans changed. Hit the jump to check it out!

From Marvel, the studio that brought you the global blockbuster franchises of Iron Man, Thor, Captain America and The Avengers, comes a new team—the Guardians of the Galaxy. An action-packed, epic space adventure, Marvel’s “Guardians of the Galaxy” expands the Marvel Cinematic Universe into the cosmos, where brash adventurer Peter Quill finds himself the object of an unrelenting bounty hunt after stealing a mysterious orb coveted by Ronan, a powerful villain with ambitions that threaten the entire universe. To evade the ever-persistent Ronan, Quill is forced into an uneasy truce with a quartet of disparate misfits—Rocket, a gun-toting raccoon, Groot, a tree-like humanoid, the deadly and enigmatic Gamora and the revenge-driven Drax the Destroyer. But when Quill discovers the true power of the orb and the menace it poses to the cosmos, he must do his best to rally his ragtag rivals for a last, desperate stand—with the galaxy’s fate in the balance.

Before she "had" to be green? It's not a rule that must be enforced. She's always been green, does making her blue seem like a task that must absolutely be done to keep you happy?
Abary - 8/12/2014, 3:16 PM
The artwork itself is good though, and I would have liked that design but with the classic green, however it does seem too "robotic" like Nebula.
ThedamnBatman - 8/12/2014, 3:22 PM
good artwork, but she didn't "had" to be green, she already is...the hell?
ThedamnBatman - 8/12/2014, 3:23 PM
@TheAbaryMan369 exactly
ckal - 8/12/2014, 3:25 PM
"before she had to be green"

she should always have been green that shouldn't even be up for debate
ckal - 8/12/2014, 3:25 PM
anyways, i miss the green hair and yellow around the eyes. Maybe they can incorporate that into the sequel
sameoldthing - 8/12/2014, 3:26 PM
I want to bang hot alien chicks thanks to GOTG.
UltimateCookie - 8/12/2014, 3:27 PM
Damn these designs are dope. Gamora's designs the only gripe I had with the movie. I want to see something like this in the second one.
Gnoxorm - 8/12/2014, 3:28 PM
I'm really starting to really hate everything about this movie when ever other focken article is about this overrated film.

I haven't yet seen it........

But am about to wait till DVD LOL.

Seriously, if t.v. Killed the radio star...

Than hype has killed GOTG.

Not that excited now :/ and there are lots that feel the same...
TheGodButcher - 8/12/2014, 3:29 PM
I digging it.
DarthSandwich - 8/12/2014, 3:33 PM
She should have been played by a white chick, not because of racist but white girl's face better adopts different color, if that makes sense...
ATrueHero1987 - 8/12/2014, 3:39 PM
@DarthSandwich just stop typing....
BatzFTWfan - 8/12/2014, 3:42 PM
@Gnoxrom: Get off man! Sorry to be rude, but this was a masterpiece, a movie that won't be forgotten for years!

This makes DC to learn to make their movies better and i'd be happy as long as both DC and Marvel make great movies. Just like brothers, and not a rival like the fanboys starting stupid flamewars. -_-
AlexanderLykins - 8/12/2014, 3:42 PM
I ordered the art book last Sunday, still not here.

BlackFlash - 8/12/2014, 3:43 PM
@ATrueHero, Thank you for saying that.
patriautism - 8/12/2014, 3:47 PM
I actually agree that they should have changed her color. Not for any other reason then the inclusion of Mantis in future movies. I think having two full green women from different planets one being Earth, will be confusing for people.
themidnightking - 8/12/2014, 3:47 PM
No. Just Stop.
Dingbat - 8/12/2014, 3:50 PM

It was a good time but its by no means a masterpiece. It's cheesy and predictable but it worked for me. I didn't find a lot of the jokes funny and there was NO suspense but I think overall it's worth watching.
CaptShipwreck - 8/12/2014, 3:51 PM
I'm still pissed Darth's mom didn't swallow him when she had the chance... Instead she birthed a waste of space
DarthSandwich - 8/12/2014, 3:52 PM
Whaaa? It's true, White girl has a different facial structure when you paint her she looks like a girl of that color, when you paint a black girl she just looks like a black girl with paint on. Or that's just me, what ever [frick] it.
themidnightking - 8/12/2014, 3:52 PM
How the hell can you say this movie is overrated when you haven't even seen it yet? The hype is more than justified. This is one of Marvel's best films. And if hype kills movies for you, then are you going to skip Age of Ultron or BvS? No. So for the love of all that which is holy, never go full retard again.
TheGodButcher - 8/12/2014, 3:53 PM
Maybe Mantis will be blue
themidnightking - 8/12/2014, 3:53 PM
Shut. The. [frick]. Up. Simple as that.
TheGodButcher - 8/12/2014, 3:54 PM
She is half black and that is too much??
TheGodButcher - 8/12/2014, 3:55 PM
Or whatever, she has Caribbean heritage.
JonAnon - 8/12/2014, 3:59 PM
Gamora used to have grey skin actually.
superotherside - 8/12/2014, 4:00 PM
Cool look, especially for detail around the eyes which are closer to her comic appearance.

Although glad they went for the green. I'm guessing the cause for them possibly make her blue might have been that Drax was already green?

In any case they fixed this with them both just being a different shade of green.

Although if you think about it in this in that way it does make sense. Glad they did it the way they did though.
BlindJustice - 8/12/2014, 4:00 PM
@DarthSandwich - Actually we're ALL black genetically, we're just different levels of black. The only ones who can argue that they are purely "white" are the albinos...since there is NO pigmentation in their skin cells.

Wrap your brain around THAT.
DarthSandwich - 8/12/2014, 4:01 PM
That's cool.
themidnightking - 8/12/2014, 4:03 PM
I once had a neighbor who had albino twins.
TheGodButcher - 8/12/2014, 4:04 PM
Anybody remember this alien? (Fixed it)
BlindJustice - 8/12/2014, 4:07 PM
@TheGodButcher - 'Enemy Mine' alien.
sKeemAn - 8/12/2014, 4:09 PM
Dumbasses on this thread.
sKeemAn - 8/12/2014, 4:10 PM

Ha! Loved that movie
Dotanuki - 8/12/2014, 4:13 PM
Why not Dennis Quaid as Star Lord's father?
mmadadamm - 8/12/2014, 4:14 PM
I wish movies actually looked like their concept art, some of it is just beautiful compared to the half ass look we end up with
CaptShipwreck - 8/12/2014, 4:27 PM
Because Harrison ford would be a cooler option
CaptAmericaSux - 8/12/2014, 4:38 PM
God that was funny, that fox GIF is from a nature show I saw :)...there's a rodent in a burrow a couple of layers under the snow. The fox has heightened hearing, so it locates the burrow. It slowly creeps up, being extremely careful not to alert the rodent that its there. When its right on top of spot, the fox suddenly jumps 5 feet into the air, and comes crashing down, snout first, through the snow :D! Half its body is submerged in the snow! He gets the rodent too! I had several friends laughing at that on my tab :D!
ComicsBornAndBred - 8/12/2014, 4:40 PM
Gamora was so plain GOTG. I like these early designs. Would've loved to have her look like this except green
Ramiel - 8/12/2014, 4:40 PM

I can agree with you. That probably explains why Algrim and Korath didn't have makeup on.
