GUARDIANS OF THE GALAXY News Roundup; Lee Pace's Ronan, Nova Corps T-Shirt And More

With Benicio Del Toro scene killing and a Nova Corps graphic film crew T-Shirt, hit the jump for a small Guardians of the Galaxy news roundup that also teases how Lee Pace looks as Ronan the Accuser.

We haven't heard much about Guardians of the Galaxy lately, but I've been gathering a few interesting nuggets over the past couple of weeks teasing the Marvel adaptation. Including vague praise for Benicio Del Toro and actress Ophelia Lovibond from director James Gunn, below, the roundup also has a Guardians of the Galaxy Nova Corps Production crew T-shirt and a vague description of how actor Lee Pace looks as the main baddie, Ronan the Accuser. More deets below!

About a week ago, UK photographer James Beddoes took to his Instagram to reveal he had seen an official Guardians of the Galaxy photo. "Can't believe I just got to look at official production still from guardians of the galaxy of Ronan and Nebula," the caption read. "I can't describe how cool they look and how much it made my day! The costumes look so amazing, Lee Pace is going to be amazing as Ronan, he looks even cooler then Thanos did in Avengers!" Upon request, Beddoes went on to describe Ronan: "He has a lot of prosthetics on his forehead & chin but you can tell it's his face, his skin is a similar blue color to Mystique in the X-men films!"

Meanwhile, director James Gunn went on Twitter earlier this week and teased that Benicio Del Toro had "just killed this scene and ate its heart." The Academy Award winning actor plays The Collector in Guardians of the Galaxy, but a previous casting report revealed that his character would be aided by a female character played by Ophelia Lovibond. Considering we haven't heard much about the English actress' role, I asked Gunn about Lovibond on his Formspring. He would only say: "She's got a great role and she is AWESOME." Also on the Twitter front, Peter Quill/Star-Lord actor Chris Pratt indicated that only 14 days of principal photography remain. "As of today we are 83.1325301% finished with #GOTG 69/83=X/100 Rithmatic," he tweeted a couple hours ago.

“Guardians of the Galaxy,” the next epic adventure from Marvel Studios, is directed by James Gunn from his screenplay, with a story by Nicole Perlman and Gunn, and the film will introduce audiences to a whole new side of the Marvel Cinematic Universe. The all-star cast includes Chris Pratt as Peter Quill aka Star-Lord, Zoe Saldana as Gamora, Dave Bautista as Drax the Destroyer, Lee Pace as Ronan the Accuser, Michael Rooker as Yondu, Karen Gillan as Nebula, two-time Academy Award nominee Djimon Hounsou as Korath, Academy Award® winner Benicio del Toro as The Collector, Academy Award nominee John C. Reilly as Rhomann Dey, and six-time Academy Award nominee Glenn Close as Nova Prime. Marvel’s “Guardians of the Galaxy” is slated for August 1, 2014!

Ronan better be back for more movies. He's way too good of a 'connector' character to be killed off.
superotherside - 9/24/2013, 7:20 AM
Nova shirt is cool.

Can't wait for Ronan. Hope they bring him back for other films.
SageMode - 9/24/2013, 7:23 AM
Can't wait to see how Ronan looks.
Humperdink - 9/24/2013, 7:26 AM

I want the Nova sleeping bag!
DrDoom - 9/24/2013, 7:27 AM
Ronan can connect to Guardians, Inhumans, Ms. Marvel and even FF if Marvel gets the rights back.

Very underrated character.

Bring me the Accuser!

CherryBomb - 9/24/2013, 7:29 AM
Lovibonds role is still a mystery, but I think she's probably Mantis.

Can't wait to see the still of Nebula and Ronan.
My two most anticipated characters from the movie.

Forget the heroes, the villains are way better!
MrCBM56 - 9/24/2013, 7:29 AM
Holy shit! Very excited
MsDarkPhoenix - 9/24/2013, 7:34 AM
That shirt-I LIKE IT!!!!
nordberg - 9/24/2013, 7:36 AM
Anyone know if this is the classic or Ultimate Ronan? I'm not very familiar with the latter but apparently he's Thanos' son and has a very different look than the one I know and love.
ATrueHero1987 - 9/24/2013, 7:45 AM
@nordberg This is "classic" Ronan. Both him and Korath are Kree.
DanMcNice - 9/24/2013, 8:08 AM
Totally agree with you Merc, he NEEDS to look powerful!
Blastaar - 9/24/2013, 8:30 AM
I'd love to see Ronan vs Thor, hammer vs hammer.

Omarvls - 9/24/2013, 8:35 AM
I'm telling you guys If giving the choice between
Guardians of the Galaxy, Age of Ultron and Batman vs Superman
I would have to go with the Raccoon
I've already seen Batman and Superman countless times and the Avengers but Ronan the Accuser-Nebula-Nova Corps-
Drax the Destroyer and Thanos actually talking WOW
Omarvls - 9/24/2013, 9:08 AM
If you could only see on which one would you pick?

GotG- Age of Ultron- Batman vs Superman

Inhuman - 9/24/2013, 9:14 AM
There has to be a Nova film in Phase 4. There is no way Marvel is gonna introduce the Nova Corp and not eventually have a Richard Rider "Nova" film
Shadowmaster35 - 9/24/2013, 9:15 AM
nova corps t-shirt? Yes Please!
Dunejedi - 9/24/2013, 9:18 AM
Omarvls - 9/24/2013, 9:42 AM
That is the reason I believe this will be a Blockbuster
Comicbookmovie junkies like ourselves can't wait it see this movie even more then the more popular one like Age of Ultron and Batman vs Superman

This will be a massive Blockbuster
Omarvls - 9/24/2013, 10:05 AM
Marvel Cosmic on the Big Screen will take comicbookmovies to the next level I just want to know how Marvel will deal with the Cosmic side after GotG is a Blockbuster
Will it release a Cosmic movie a year and then have to release 3 movies per year?
vtopa - 9/24/2013, 10:24 AM

Inhuman - 9/24/2013, 10:32 AM
Phase 4 will be cosmic

(2018) Guardians Of The Galaxy 2
(2019) Inhumans
(2019) Nova
(2020) Ms. Marvel
(2020) Namor: The Sub-Mariner
(2021) The Defenders
novaprime - 9/24/2013, 10:37 AM

TheWolverine08 - 9/24/2013, 11:02 AM
This movie can be epic IMO.
NovaCorpsFan - 9/24/2013, 11:54 AM
I figured I'd leave some thoughts.

Nova Corps, guaranteed Nova movie. It's also my fond hope that Peter Serafinowicz is playing Zan Philo before the accident in which he lost his arm.

El Mayimbe ain't trustworthy but a Warlock easter egg would be awesome.

I hope we hear a bit of Kree lore, especially about the Wraiths. I'd love to see Zak-Del on film. Add in a Mar-Vell easter egg and I'd shit my pants right there in the theatre.

Hopefully that rumour of a Korbinite called Xi Asha is true and we get a little Beta Ray Bill foreshadowing.

If Lovibond is Mantis; I want Bug!

If she's Carina; I want a Korvac saga.

I hope Yondu is revealed to have a REALLY long lifespan. Leaves the door open for the original team to appear.

I hope Rhomann Dey becomes Nova Prime by the finale and Glenn Close becomes Worldmind.

What else...

Oh yeah, a Moondragon reference through a broken memory in Drax's mind.

I think that's everything...
