GUARDIANS OF THE GALAXY Trailer Trending on Twitter and Facebook.

The Wrap is reporting that James Gunn's Guardians Of The Galaxy trailer is a Social Media Smash, Bigger Than ‘Man of Steel’. This is according to a recent survey done by social media research firm Fizziology. Read on for more..

According to the Wrap, Marvel's Guardians Of The Galaxy is "a viral smash", ever since it's debut last night on the Jimmy Kimmel show according to a survey by social media research firm Fizziology.

After debuting Tuesday on “Jimmy Kimmel Live!,” the footage for the upcoming outer space adventure attracted 88,000 mentions across Twitter, Facebook and various blogs in a 12-hour period between 11 p.m. EST until 11 a.m. EST. By way of contrast, in the first 24 hours following their trailer debuts, “Man of Steel” attracted 75,000 social mentions, and “The Amazing Spider-Man 2″ inspired 96,000 mentions — and those were released at a reasonable hour.

“The Guardians of the Galaxy” trailer has drawn more than 4 million views on “Jimmy Kimmel Live!’s” YouTube page.
“The reaction was giddy,” Ben Carlson, president and co-creator of Fizziology, said. “I think a lot of people didn’t know how the film was going to work, it’s five superheroes and one of them is a raccoon and another is a tree. But they nailed the tone. It was light and fun and full of action and you see that reflected in the social media reaction.”

Carlson’s description of the film’s off-beat appeal is accurate. “The Guardians of the Galaxy” centers on a cadre of intergalactic misfits, one of whom is a raccoon adventurer named Rocket (voiced by Bradley Cooper) and another is a tree-like creature called Groot (vocal honors come courtesy of Vin Diesel). Rocket Raccoon was mentioned in 3 percent of conversations, while Groot was only brought up in 1 percent of the social media back-and-forth. But those characters weren’t generating the lion’s share of buzz.

It seems like the trailer did it's job and is being well received. A lot is riding on this movie since it's Marvel Studio's first Non-sequel and it's a brand new franchise. What did you guys think of the trailer? Are you surprised by this news? Leave your thoughts down below.

Marvel’s Guardians of the Galaxy expands the Marvel Cinematic Universe into the cosmos, where brash adventurer Peter Quill finds himself the object of an unrelenting bounty hunt after stealing a mysterious orb coveted by Ronan, a powerful villain with ambitions that threaten the entire universe. To evade the ever-persistent Ronan, Quill is forced into an uneasy truce with a quartet of disparate misfits–Rocket, a gun-toting raccoon, Groot, a tree-like humanoid, the deadly and enigmatic Gamora and the revenge-driven Drax the Destroyer. But when Peter discovers the true power of the orb and the menace it poses to the cosmos, he must do his best to rally his ragtag rivals for a last, desperate stand - with the galaxy’s fate in the balance. Marvel’s Guardians of the Galaxy is presented by Marvel Studios and stars Chris Pratt, Zoe Saldana, Dave Bautista, Bradley Cooper as the voice of Rocket, Vin Diesel as the voice of Groot, Lee Pace, Michael Rooker, Karen Gilian, Djimon Hounsou with John C. Reilly, Glenn Close as Commander Rael and Benicio del Toro as The Collector. Distributed by Walt Disney Studios Motion Pictures, the film opens August 1, 2014.

This is good news. Goes to show that people are talking about it. Looks like the trailer did its job!
McNyagano - 2/19/2014, 5:24 PM

Who said anything about money?

True. Man of Steel trended and it was super sh*t.
Was there one scene when Cavill wasn't screaming as Superman?
This is the first film that has inspired me to comment since Man of Steel was released. And for those who think I'm a hater... Superman is my favorite hero. Affleck will knock it out of the park. Eisenberg will flop.

As long as people are starting to get hyped for the movie, then it's great news. It's a teaser trailer that introduces us, and the general audience, to the five members of the GotG. It doesn't delve into the plot much, because it doesn't need to. This trailer is primarily to introduce the audience to Star Lord and the other members while showing some lighthearted humor and action packed scenes. I can't wait to see more from the movie!
Amputech - 2/19/2014, 5:32 PM
Good news and well deserved. Hope it really does push everyone to see the movie.
Fornication - 2/19/2014, 5:34 PM
I want this movie to be so good but I can't trust Marvel. Iron Man is still their best movie and the sequels were all awful.

I hope GOTG is a new landmark for the studio. I hope Disney won't [frick] this up.
RichardBoldly - 2/19/2014, 5:36 PM

Now tell me who's gonna win the FIFA World Cup.
Destined - 2/19/2014, 5:38 PM
It's also a trending topic on Tumblr.
SageMode - 2/19/2014, 5:42 PM
Yes yes and yes. GOTG is gonna be huge. And I second bluejaguar's gif.
MrCBM56 - 2/19/2014, 5:44 PM
Deserves it!!!

Groot & Rocket will be the next Chewbacca & Han Solo. I'm most excited for those two.
cipher - 2/19/2014, 5:44 PM
I want a f*cking pet raccoon. I'll train him to be a hard drinking, gun-toting little bastard of a furball.

Then he'll probably kill me.
cipher - 2/19/2014, 5:45 PM
That just means I trained 'im right, though.
McNyagano - 2/19/2014, 5:46 PM

JoJo1982 - 2/19/2014, 5:47 PM

I don't think a new trailer will be with cap 2, probably with spidey 2, Godzilla, or that Angelina Jolie movie

MrReese - 2/19/2014, 5:48 PM
Sorry Chris Pine, There's A New Shatner In Town
JoJo1982 - 2/19/2014, 5:48 PM

More like chewbacca and yoda

MrCBM56 - 2/19/2014, 5:48 PM

LMAO! Ciph & Rocket...? That should be a comic series.
rockerdude22 - 2/19/2014, 5:49 PM
To celebrate this trailer, I whipped out some old Christmas Ale leftover from a couple months ago lol

SuperCat - 2/19/2014, 5:49 PM
Happy to hear it's trending. Well deserved. Gunn seems like a good guy. I'm wishing the best for this film.
SageMode - 2/19/2014, 5:50 PM
A movie based on a group of C-List Marvel characters trending more than the film based on the most famous superhero of all time from DC.......MARVEL IS WINNING!!!!!!
MrCBM56 - 2/19/2014, 5:51 PM

I'd said Han Solo because they're best friends and Solo is one of the only people who can understand him. That's equivalent to RR and Groot.
cipher - 2/19/2014, 5:51 PM
MrCBM- Hahaha, I KNOW!! It really should. It'd be like a good ol' fashioned buddy movie.
MrCBM56 - 2/19/2014, 5:51 PM

You just had to be that guy. Enjoy it, you don't need to bring up Dc.
cipher - 2/19/2014, 5:52 PM
rocker!! How ya been, man? You break all your New Year's resolutions yet? 'Cause I'm pretty sure I already did.

Y'know.. the one's I remember making, I mean.
rockerdude22 - 2/19/2014, 5:52 PM
Since this awesome trailer just dropped, you guys should check out the rap battle I wrote a while ago with Rocket going up against Fox McCloud!
rockerdude22 - 2/19/2014, 5:54 PM
@cipher How you doing, bro? I didn't really make any resolutions this year, didn't see any point lol. But yeah, I've been pretty good. My life's been busier then ever now, since I just got into a relationship a couple weeks ago haha
SageMode - 2/19/2014, 5:57 PM

Man of Steel is actually apart of the subject of the article. Quit whining. Lol.
MarvelFan15 - 2/19/2014, 6:00 PM
I still think this is gonna be the next global billion dollar hitt from Marvel Studios. Two reasons why: the return appearance of Thanos from "The Avengers" and the big character of the movie himself, ROCKET RACCOON (voiced by Bradley Cooper).
cipher - 2/19/2014, 6:03 PM
rocker- Haha, well done, mate!! I'm happy for you. I met my girlfriend two years ago, and I've never been happier.

Best of luck, bud.

92Marvel - 2/19/2014, 6:06 PM
James Gunn said the next trailer will be out in a couple of months and will show Ronan, Yondu, and Glenn Close as Nova Prime. I think the trailer will be with cap 2
Nomis - 2/19/2014, 6:08 PM
Still Not feeling this and I wish it was the GOTG I grew up on but the kids seem to enjoy it so....
rockerdude22 - 2/19/2014, 6:09 PM
@cipher Thanks, dude! Really appreciate it! Have one on me!

marvel72 - 2/19/2014, 6:10 PM
depending on the budget, lets say $150,000,000 the movie will have to make at least $450,000,000 to get a sequel.

i think this is achievable & that is good because marvel can set up a new franchise & expand its cinematic universe further into outer space with the likes of the inhumans, nova, captain mar-vell & ms.marvel to name just a few.
MecoBoy - 2/19/2014, 6:11 PM
Me gusto un chingo el trailer! Marvel tiene otro ganador en sus manos
Amputech - 2/19/2014, 6:12 PM
Sorry Nomis, they gotta' go with the better GOTG lineup.
ALmazing - 2/19/2014, 6:18 PM
Well, if people did not know about GotG before yesterday, they do now.
mbembet - 2/19/2014, 6:26 PM
