Karen Gillan On GUARDIANS OF THE GALAXY

While at SXSW to promote “Oculus,” Karen Gillian discussed nebula's character in Guardians of the galaxy. Also she talks about her fight scene with Zoe Saldana and says it's more then just a "Catfight". Hit the jump to check it out!

In a recent interview with SXSW Karen Gillan talks about her role as Nebula in Guardians Of The Galaxy. “I always had total faith in the project, because the people who are making it are so brilliant, and have a long history of great films, So I knew it was in great hands."She then added,"I just think it’s a new direction for Marvel, it’s really, really funny,It’s not taking itself seriously at all. It’s tongue in cheek. And just to see people be excited about that new tone is cool.” Gillan may be a very funny person to meet but she says Nebula is not someone to laugh about.“Okay, so Nebula does not find herself funny, I find her hilarious. But she can’t find herself hilarious, that’s not scary." Karen Gillian then discussed her "girlie" fight with Gamora "Yeah, there’s a big girlie fight sequence, but it’s not that girlie,They made sure there weren’t any nice pirouettes or anything like that." She then tells how Zoe Saldana was a pro at the physical aspects in the role. She’s really experienced in the physical stuff, she was a ballerina, She’s really amazing at all of that stuff. he barely required any rehearsal, she was like, ‘I can do this.’ I required two months of rehearsals every day that I wasn’t shooting, because I looked like spaghetti when I started. It was the saddest thing in the world,They’d use a big industrial wind machine when filming her, but when it was on me, it was like, ‘Turn the wind machine off,’ and it was like beeeeup.” She then says there is more to the fight then it seems “This is the integral one for my character, because it’s not just a physical battle, Their relationship goes very deep, and there’s a huge history between them. So there’s a lot more to it than just the physical.”

Poolio you haven't even seen it yet, how do you know its forced?

If people were complaining about the humor in Marvel films before...oooh boy, they're going to hate this movie. There's this idiotic idea that "all humor = bad," when it really should be "Forced humor that's badly placed and shoehorned in = bad." IMO, only parts of Iron Man 3 and Thor 2 were guilty of this. Every other Marvel movie has walked the line perfectly. Looking forward to GotG!

I really want to see what she does with the character.

Girl's got bigger balls than I do. My hair's, like.. 14 f*cking inches by now, and I wouldn't shave it for all the whiskey in Ireland.
cipher - 3/10/2014, 12:57 PM
Okay, maybe, just maybe I'll shave it for that.
cipher - 3/10/2014, 1:24 PM
I'd shave it all off without hesitation if it somehow made all the Bud Light on the planet disappear into a black hole.

Next bastard that states forced humor or jeez more humor will catch my backhand. Too many Indians and not enough chiefs. Be original. That humor complaint is old dead and gone. ;)
