The latest issue of Total Film magazine features a spread on Marvel's Guardians of the Galaxy that has intriguing on-set quotes from director James Gunn and the film's principal cast members (Lee Pace says Ronan the Accuser "passes judgement and only values the strong; anything that's weaker is annihilated"). The UK magazine also watched as one scene was filming . It features dialogue between Dave Bautista's Drax the Destroyer, Chris Pratt's Peter Quill, Zoe Saldana's Gamora, and a man in blue spandex that was a stand-in for Groot, later voiced by Vin Diesel, as the four misfits are inside of Ronan the Accuser's spacecraft called the Dark Aster. Check it out!
Gamora, Drax, Star-Lord, and Groot move tentatively forward, deeper into the Dark Aster. "I want you all to know I am grateful for your acceptance after my blunders," says Drax. "We all make mistakes Drax," says Quill. They're scoping out the wreckage of the Dark Aster, guns and blasters at the ready."It is pleasing to once again have friends," Drax emotes, slowly, with gravity, as if he's speaking a language he's unused to. "I can barely see," he says, as the four move further into the ship. Groot waves his arm (when CGI Groot is added in post we'll see him disperse luminous spoors which light up the room). "How did you learn to do this?" Drax asks. "I'm pretty sure the answer is 'I Am Groot'" Quill quips. "You, Quill, are my friend," muses Drax. "This dumb tree is my friend. And this green whore is now my..." "You must STOP!" snaps Gamora, furious. Off-screen we hear Karen Gillan's Nebula: "Gamora, look at what you have done. You have always been weak, you stupid traitorous..." "Nobody talks to my friends like that!" bellows Drax. "But whore is perfectly fine?" Gamora quips back.
Afterwards, Chris Pratt told Total Film that "My nose was itching that whole time [during the scene]." The Star-Lord actor later revealed that his character is stuck in the Earthly period even though he's been in space ever since he was abducted as a child. "...He's like Bon Jovi, John Stamos, Young Guns, he's big into that period of time and doesn't really know any better," says Pratt. "So, he still makes these really outdated references that no one gets - they're like 'We're from space. We don't know who John Stamos is!'" Also, TF reports that Dave Bautista was having trouble with his lines, particularly the one where he calls Gomora a whore. "Drax is a total badass - obviously you don't want to mess with this guy, but then out of nowhere he'll just pop out of character and just be this innocent little kid. It's perfect for me because it's really who I am," said Bautista. Pick up the latest Total Film mag' to read the full spread. What do you think?
