As James Gunn answers a few Guardians of the Galaxy questions on Twitter, including the film's runtime, new promo art of Yondu has surfaced from one of the art books now available. Check it out!

Marvel’s Guardians of the Galaxy expands the Marvel Cinematic Universe into the cosmos, where brash adventurer Peter Quill finds himself the object of an unrelenting bounty hunt after stealing a mysterious orb coveted by Ronan, a powerful villain with ambitions that threaten the entire universe. To evade the ever-persistent Ronan, Quill is forced into an uneasy truce with a quartet of disparate misfits–Rocket, a gun-toting raccoon, Groot, a tree-like humanoid, the deadly and enigmatic Gamora and the revenge-driven Drax the Destroyer. But when Peter discovers the true power of the orb and the menace it poses to the cosmos, he must do his best to rally his ragtag rivals for a last, desperate stand - with the galaxy’s fate in the balance. Marvel’s Guardians of the Galaxy is presented by Marvel Studios and stars Chris Pratt, Zoe Saldana, Dave Bautista, Bradley Cooper as the voice of Rocket, Vin Diesel as the voice of Groot, Lee Pace, Michael Rooker, Karen Gilian, Djimon Hounsou with John C. Reilly, Glenn Close as Commander Rael and Benicio del Toro as The Collector. Distributed by Walt Disney Studios Motion Pictures, the film opens August 1, 2014

First! He looks great!
superotherside - 7/4/2014, 2:42 PM
Wow! 2 hours and 1 minute! Sounds good to me!

To me it seems like Marvel always wants to cut up the Thor films in weird ways and leave out the good parts but yet in other films they're like whatever.

It's kinda weird.

Marvel secretly has something against Thor... I think... ;P
MarvelFan15 - 7/4/2014, 2:43 PM
Glad James confirmed Guardians is indeed 2 hours and 1 minute long.
sameoldthing - 7/4/2014, 2:50 PM
Yondu looks pretty cool.
Still think a large fin (CG) should pop out of head when he's pissed or goes into action.
That would really honor the characters real look but it's a sacrifice we gotta accept.
Phronesis - 7/4/2014, 2:53 PM
Don't like the look.
Eustace - 7/4/2014, 3:02 PM
I do not like that Michael Rooker is in this movie. He is kind of a jerk in person.
KurtWagner1225 - 7/4/2014, 3:02 PM
i think 121 minutes is pretty good for this film, fun fact: the original star wars was 121 minutes
KurtWagner1225 - 7/4/2014, 3:03 PM
superotherside-i think it hurt thor 2 more then thor 1 ,i really like thor 1 and thor 2 is good but i still prefer the first one because the villain was MUCH better and darcy and the human characters werent as annoying
KurtWagner1225 - 7/4/2014, 3:10 PM
james gunn oversaw the editing of the film so i guess he is happy with it being 121 minutes
batz11 - 7/4/2014, 3:11 PM
Lots of bright colored humanoids so far, hope there more interesting aliens too...
LensmanMatt92 - 7/4/2014, 3:15 PM
'Dunno anything about Yondu but Rooker was awesome!''

LensmanMatt92 - 7/4/2014, 3:19 PM
It always bugs me when, in the age of the internet, someone says ''i don't know anything about this character''.
SageMode - 7/4/2014, 3:24 PM
2hrs and 1minute? Ugh. Why is it that short? At least for a film of this magnitude.
themidnightking - 7/4/2014, 3:25 PM
This is the age of miracles...
themidnightking - 7/4/2014, 3:27 PM
Maybe it has little to no filler
KurtWagner1225 - 7/4/2014, 3:31 PM
sagemode-it all depends on pacing,i have heard its a pretty fast paced film

Batz-the bright colored humanoids and the people with minimal prosthetics are a nice homage to 50s and 60s pulp scifi, thats how alot of the "aliens" looked then..gunn said those eras of scifi was a big influence on the look of the film for me , the colorful yet gritty world he has created is very reminiscent of those eras but i do hope they are other interesting aliens..maybe since the skrulls are sort of owned by fox and marvel and marvel dont own the badoon..maybe it was a rights issues..maybe some other studios like sony or fox have other alien races that marvel cant use..i think the SHI'AR are with fox
KurtWagner1225 - 7/4/2014, 3:33 PM
sagemode-the original star wars was 121 minutes.just a fun fact
erth2drew - 7/4/2014, 3:38 PM
@Eziokenway1225 it is actually pretty cool as that is my favorite movie of all time. I'm going Monday to see the sneak peak and I'm hoping this movie is on par.
KurtWagner1225 - 7/4/2014, 3:40 PM
erth2drew-i have heard the preview that was shown at disneyland blew people away..they said it looks to be the most fun movie of the summer
ComradeGrey - 7/4/2014, 3:41 PM
Does Yondu use a bow at all in the movie? That would be tight.
Ramiel - 7/4/2014, 3:48 PM
"Marvel secretly has something against Thor... I think"

Marvel, since Quesada took over, has always had something against Thor. Before Marvel NOW, Thor was nothing more than a punching bag for them.
Kyos - 7/4/2014, 3:49 PM
121 minutes might seem a bit short at first, but of they're well used it's plenty of time. Also yay @blue Rooker!
SnapperCarr - 7/4/2014, 3:53 PM
I'm digging the look and I hope we see more of Yondu in future movies. Though from the description, he doesn't sound very 'heroic' as his comic book counterpart, but maybe they'll develop him more.
Fabius - 7/4/2014, 4:02 PM
Funny picture. Little bit Far from the comicbook.
But Ok promo art.
Mick can say thanks to Gunn: if Mick is in the movie, it s because they are friend during so many years...
But Mick is fun actor. Not great at all. But enough good.
His role play will be short.
AvengersRock - 7/4/2014, 4:03 PM
I'm SOOO looking forward to the 17 minute preview. From what I've heard it's going to rock our sox world!!!

I'm assuming the movie will preview at Comic Con. Can't wait!
AvengersRock - 7/4/2014, 4:05 PM
*rock our world! LOL
PymParticle - 7/4/2014, 4:14 PM
I can live with it but from what we seen so far most aliens look like humans with skin paint. Not great.
SidDaAstroSloth - 7/4/2014, 4:23 PM
How many after credits scenes were there McN?

Or were there none in your early screening?
DrKinsolving - 7/4/2014, 4:33 PM
Nice, he looks good. 2 hours and 1 min sounds good too. I want to see Thanos.

Klone - 7/4/2014, 4:59 PM
Well... it's not AS hideous as I was expecting.
Klone - 7/4/2014, 4:59 PM
Two hours!? But that's two sixties! And that's terrible!!
Fabius - 7/4/2014, 5:19 PM
AGreed. Which alien do you prefer ?
MileHighRonin - 7/4/2014, 5:26 PM
Still in disbelief we are getting a GotG film. My favorite original Guardian is Yondu, I am excited he is a part of the film.

Drewbee87 - 7/4/2014, 5:48 PM
Looks cartoon-ish like those Wall decals you buy, so I'll wait for an actual image before I judge...
mgeoff88 - 7/4/2014, 5:51 PM
Yondu looks great! I guess it's not surprising we won't be getting a promo image of Thanos before the movie is released.
MarvelFan15 - 7/4/2014, 5:55 PM
BTW, guys, two other things about Guardians runtime:

1) It is the 7th longest Marvel movie out of the ten MCU movies to be 2 hours long or more and it ranks in 7th place of the running times of the currently released Marvel Studios MCU movies between "Captain America: The First Avenger" and "Thor".

2) It is also the same running time as the first "Spider-Man" movie directed by Sam Raimi, not only the same running time as the first "Star Wars" that came out in 1977.
mgeoff88 - 7/4/2014, 5:55 PM
This is Batz's idea of more interesting aliens...

marvel72 - 7/4/2014, 5:57 PM
two beginning/after credit scenes? hmmmmmmmm,maybe.....

doctor strange
avengers age of ultron teaser

i do believe we'll get an avengers age of ultron teaser, just like how we got an avengers teaser at the end of captain america the first avenger.

what with both movies being the last stop before the avengers & avengers age of ultron.
MarvelFan15 - 7/4/2014, 5:57 PM
And, one more thing, I have faith Guardians will be Marvel's next worldwide billion dollar box office breakout blockbuster smash hit. And, if there are any of you who say it won't, it won't unless you see it long enough the movies all over the world to make it gross a billion worldwide until it's no longer in theaters and unless you get ready for back to school year early in mid-July.
MrFridayNights - 7/4/2014, 7:27 PM
Not bad since GOTG will be a scifi superhero comedy movie.
