I will give a few reasons of how the Guardians Of The Galaxy Live-Action Movie will not only work but will be great.

When at Last year's SDCC it was Announced that Marvel's Guardians Of the Galaxy will be the Mystery movie of Phase 2 of Marvel Cinematic Universe instead fanboys were expecting Black Panther and Said that GOTG wont work due to very low fan base and weird characters like Groot and Rocket Raccoon, But i can give a few points which will change the Minds of why this movie will be a treat to watch. this arent tips for making this better movie but are reasons based on information till now.

James Gunn was chosen for his “sensibility and his ability to mix comedy elements with action and horror.” And his credits include 'Dawn of the Dead', 'Slither', and most recently 'Super'.
Joss Whedon about James Gunn: He is so off the wall, and so crazy, but so smart, such a craftsman and he builds from his heart. He loves the raccoon. Needs the raccoon.
Joss Whedon is quite confident about him that he is the right candid to helm this project and we have seen the work of Joss Whedon so i have no complaints when he suggests something or someone.

Kevin Feige is Mastermind of The Marvel Cinematic Universe and till now every decision he has take has been supported by fans and has worked very well so far for the Marvel Studios. he is been great in the sense that he managed each and every movie of Phase-I very well and has been rewarded for his work. so i think he will do a great job with Guardians of the Galaxy.

It has been confirmed that the GOTG will Face the 'the Mad Titan' in their First adventure. After the mid-credits scene of The Avengers Thanos was shown and then the news came that Thanos will be the main villain in GOTG. i think they are going with 'The Thanos Imperative' storyline in whicg GOTG face him. Thanos is very popular and also been confirmed for Avengers 2 so everyone will be excited to see WHY and HOW he will be Earth to Face Avengers.

While some people thinks that Groot and Rocket Raccoon will be hard to potray and can make the movie look bad but i think they will look good. for example 'ENT' from LOTR for GROOT and i can think of many movies like Dr Dolittle, Stuart Little, Garfield, Rise of the planet of the Apes etc. these can be taken into account for Rocket Raccoon with a great Script.

5)Rumored Cameo of TONY STARK/IRON MAN
I am not sure about this rumor but Tony stark can be seen for a few scenes especially a mid/end credits scene. As Thanos will be the main villain both in GOTG and AVENGERS 2, Iron Man is already a Guardian in new comics and it may be a way to give a boost to not so popular GOTG. I hope he does have a Cameo and makes us Fans surprised.

So these are the Few Reasons i think GOTG will be a Great Spectacle

nope, nope, nope. will not work!!

sorry to bust your bubble, buster, but this movie will just not work

i heave heard dozens and maybe hundreds of times on this site that you can't make a super team movie without having solo movies first. you gotta do it like marvel studios did it 'cause they are the bestest ever. i mean, just how are they gonna do it? HOW? there is no possible way. i mean, it's almost a fact that you can't make a movie with multiple characters in it without solos that have hints at the end of them. nobody will be able to understand anything going on in this whole movie

lol, at this pathetic attempt. they won't be able to do it and make it work and they are desperate. making a team movie after the avengers that was the first and only team movie ever. smh. wow. no solo movies. smh

(sarcasm, by the way)

i'll probably see the movie. nice article

Star Wars didn't need individual movies for each character..all you need is to show the essence of what makes each member of the team awesome:

Star Lord: funny, in over his head, inspiring
Rocket Raccoon: hilarious...and guns. SO MANY GUNS!
Drax: Quiet, deadly, single-minded on killing his enemy.
Gamora: sexy, lethal, with emotional ties to the villain
Groot: He is Groot.

Anything, and i mean ANYTHING, similar to what Abnett + Lanning wrote, and its already half-way there. Can't wait to see it all come together, and also cast announcements!

My personal most anticipated movie of Phase Two (of course not counting Avengers 2). One of my few concerns is that although the lineup is fantastic, Warlock had better show up, or I'll have a fit.
Jollem - 12/22/2012, 8:15 AM
star wars doesn't count 'cuz it's a different thing. there's has been no movie ever besides the avengers that has multiple characters and make it work. smh. justice league won't work, guardians of the galaxy won't work. gotg riding the coattails of the vengers. smh

(again, sarcasm)
Jollem - 12/22/2012, 8:24 AM
just a pathetic, desperate money grab. don't they know people won't be able to understand this movie because there are no solos?

(how can people do things like this every day for over a year? i already feel silly and desperate and i'm just playing around)

Why do people keep mentioning the Thanos Imperitive as the story for this movie? Has no one actually read that story?

It starts off with Thanos already being dead after the events of Annihilation. The GOTG resurrect him because they need his help. The Cancerverse (an alternate dimension full of demonic looking versions of our reality's heroes) is trying to invade. The GOTG team up with Thanos to stop it. It ends with Thanos, Nova, and Star Lord all getting trapped in the Cancerverse.

Now does that really sound like the story that would be used? Just think long and hard about that question...

i believe they'll create the team the same way it was formed in annihilation conquest,they were all in holding cells & starlord hand picked them a sort of good way also tell the background of each character with a prison file system.

also it should be based abnett & lanning series of the guardians of galaxy which was one of the best comic runs ever!

The biggest thing is that the movie demonstrates Disney's hand's off approach to Marvel.

Phase 1 was all about getting people who are experts at delivering a particular genre. Phase 2 is all about people who have passion for the projects. All of the directors are big fans of the character they are directing - except for Guardians. Feige is the fan here. Feige seems to be Guardians biggest fan on the planet. If phase 2 is all about passion, then Guardian's fits.

It also is an interesting test to see how deep into the catalog Marvel can go. Disney always talks about buying 3,000 characters, but that's not exactly true now is it. A lot of characters just aren't going to ever provide any value. This is a way of testing how much value actually is there.

@JokerFanHAhaHA -i'm wearing my sarcastic pants today :)

but if you look past the veil of sarcasm, i believe i'm making valid points contrary to the nay-saying of the justice league movie
Rohit9876 - 12/22/2012, 11:29 PM
@JokerFanHAhaHA i think you are right...there is no guarantee that a Team movie will work if only solo movies are there. if you see Captain america:TFA, Thor were good movies but they didnt go beyond $450m and DC characters like Wonder Woman, GL, Aquaman, Martian Manhunter needs big budget movies(FLASH can be made easily into normal budget movie) for their solo movies but besides Superman, Batman they need popularity for non-comic book lovers, so we need a JUSTICE LEAGUE movie as soon as possible
Jollem - 12/23/2012, 1:09 AM
@JokerFanHAhaHA - yes, really

"The whole "solo movies" argument is stupid because theres no absolute NEED for solo movies,"

yeah, one of the big things that nay-sayers said was that there has to be solo movies or else people weren't going to understand stuff. i have always thought and stated otherwise

i don't think you understand what all the sarcasm was getting at?
Jollem - 12/23/2012, 2:16 PM
@JokerFanHAhaHA - yeah, i've heard a lot of silly declaratives as well ;)
Marxman12 - 12/23/2012, 10:55 PM
Watchmen and V for Vendetta were pretty dang good and niether of those movies had Batman.
Jollem - 12/24/2012, 12:53 AM
@JokerFanHAhaHA - i get ya, but i can easily match you on that with(these are not my personal opinions. i actually like a good chunk of these movies);

fantastic 4
fantastic 4 2
spider-man 3
x-men origins: wolverine
ghost rider
ghost rider 2
iron man 2
blade 3
x-men 3
punisher: war zone

that's just from the "silver age" of cbms that we're in now, if you want to include "golden age" movies, then i will also put(i do like some of these as well);

captain america(1990)
howard the duck
the punisher(1989)
fantastic 4(1994)

so, the track record here is not looking so good for marvel, i believe :)

also, imo, good movies from d.c. would be;

superman 1
superman 2
batman returns
batman begins
the dark knight
the dark knight rises
road to perdition
the losers
a history of violence
the spirit

and as Marxman said;

v for vendetta

I was the guy who spoke to Jim Starlin and he NEVER EVER EVER said that Thanos would be the main Villain. The conversation actually wasn't very long. He just said he would be in both Guardians of the galaxy and Avengers 2.

That doesn't mean he won't be the main villain but i think its still possible he could be behind whatever threat the guardians face instead of the main villain. Perhaps behind the badoon.
