'Star-Lord' And 'Drax' Look Roughed Up In New Photo From GUARDIANS OF THE GALAXY Set

Marvel's Guardians of the Galaxy director James Gunn has shared his latest production "pic of the day," this time featuring Chris Pratt and Dave Bautista in post-battle makeup and costume. Check it out!

Marvel’s Guardians of the Galaxy expands the Marvel Cinematic Universe into the cosmos, where brash adventurer Peter Quill finds himself the object of an unrelenting bounty hunt after stealing a mysterious orb coveted by Ronan, a powerful villain with ambitions that threaten the entire universe. To evade the ever-persistent Ronan, Quill is forced into an uneasy truce with a quartet of disparate misfits–Rocket, a gun-toting raccoon, Groot, a tree-like humanoid, the deadly and enigmatic Gamora and the revenge-driven Drax the Destroyer. But when Peter discovers the true power of the orb and the menace it poses to the cosmos, he must do his best to rally his ragtag rivals for a last, desperate stand - with the galaxy’s fate in the balance. Marvel’s Guardians of the Galaxy is presented by Marvel Studios and stars Chris Pratt, Zoe Saldana, Dave Bautista, Bradley Cooper as the voice of Rocket, Vin Diesel as the voice of Groot, Lee Pace, Michael Rooker, Karen Gilian, Djimon Hounsou with John C. Reilly, Glenn Close as Commander Rael and Benicio del Toro as The Collector. Distributed by Walt Disney Studios Motion Pictures, the film opens August 1, 2014

Daaaaamn!! You got knocked the [frick] out!! Lol
ComicsBornAndBred - 7/14/2014, 8:46 AM
I heard the only gripe with the film is that some of the jokes fall flat at times. James Gunn humor isn't for everyone. And some dialogue is iffy. Otherwise, it's epic

DrKinsolving - 7/14/2014, 8:47 AM
Is Bautista wearing makeup or is that a bodysuit?

Can't wait for this movie.
CaptainComicBook - 7/14/2014, 8:47 AM
I'm not a practical effect loving hipster, but I love what they did with Drax. He looks incredible.
DannyRand1225 - 7/14/2014, 8:48 AM
i hope they give Ronan a backstory..i just dont want him to be another Malekith..just a weak character
DannyRand1225 - 7/14/2014, 8:50 AM
ComicsBornandBred-yeah,James Gunns Humor is not for everyone just like joss whedons or Shane Blacks or Edgar Wrights humor is not for everyone, the dialogue imo is quite good, going by the preview, there was very little that fell flat, VERY little, some of Draxs lines as soon as he was in felt awkward and flat..but its just because he is very literal and doesnt get metaphors and is emotionless..that is just his character but as soonas u find out he is very literal..its awesome
MrCBM56 - 7/14/2014, 8:52 AM
Wait a minute, this movie has a talking Racoon? I'll pass.
MrCBM56 - 7/14/2014, 8:52 AM
Whats next, a talking tree?!?

MRCBM56-there may also be a psychic russian cosmonaut dog
TheDarkKnightSlap - 7/14/2014, 8:56 AM
Bautista would've been amazing as Panthro!
McNyagano - 7/14/2014, 8:57 AM
Let's just say the team gets a good old fashion beating lol The finale was great, I'd say it's the second biggest 3rd act battle after the battle of New York. The coolest thing that happened in the final battle was when Ronan's ship crashed on Xander. Reminded of when Kahn's ship crashed in Star Trek: Into Darkness.
ComicsBornAndBred - 7/14/2014, 8:57 AM
Ezio- I'm not a fan of Shane black humor, gunn or Whedon but I enjoy their films. I expect good stuff from this film. I've heard Pratt carries the flat humor and makes it funny because he's just generally funny
MrCBM56 - 7/14/2014, 8:58 AM
@Ezio Well that sounds... Actually really cool. I'm in.
DannyRand1225 - 7/14/2014, 8:59 AM
ComicBornandbred-oh ok, Pratt is great in the movie, he is very funny, endearing but can be pretty gullible too
ckal - 7/14/2014, 8:59 AM

A character having a back story doesn't mean they are deep or a strong character. A villain doesn't need a back story to be a solid, engaging, menacing, and provocative villain. They also don't need to be overly complex or emotional.

What they need is to feel real and thought out. To feel dangerous. To have some substance to their personality and have something going on.

It's all in the writing.
MrCBM56 - 7/14/2014, 8:59 AM
@McNya Be very careful. You're on thin ice, buddy. One more comparison to Star Trek Into Darkness, Marvel will find you.
SidDaAstroSloth - 7/14/2014, 9:00 AM

I know what you get uo to in Vegas...

You and Gusto's "gang" start causing trouble.

You get smurfed up on hard liquor. Smurf some skanky Smurfs and go smurf up the convenience stores
DannyRand1225 - 7/14/2014, 9:00 AM
Bradley Cooper is so awesome as Rocket, he has this New York/Jersey accent ,it gives off kind of a "Joe Pesci" vibe
DannyRand1225 - 7/14/2014, 9:01 AM
ckal-very well said, that is true and awesome avatar, i love Iron Fist,i hope his netflix show is good
McNyagano - 7/14/2014, 9:02 AM

Marvel already found me no thanks to some folks over here-.-
Floke - 7/14/2014, 9:03 AM
I hope that is a body suit or Drax has some very loose flappy skin. Perhaps that is why it looks like he doesnt have as much definition as he use to have.
And those eyes.. Looks like me after a night in Sambuca-heaven.
MsDarkPhoenix - 7/14/2014, 9:05 AM
Say goodbye to McN kids, the Marvel snipers will come for him...

RIP Our Beloved McNyagano

DannyRand1225 - 7/14/2014, 9:05 AM
i have asked this before but i will ask it again: i have been pretty happy with Marvel's casting so far, regardless of what i think of the characters themselves,i think the actors fit the roles well,i am excited about the casting for the MCU that is coming up whether it be Vincent D Onofrio as Kingpin or Paul Rudd as Scott Lang(yes i said it) but the three casting ,i am most excited for Josh Brolin as Thanos,James Spader as Ultron and Charlie Cox as Matt Murdock/Daredevil, which casting choices in the MCU are u excited for?
Rulk - 7/14/2014, 9:06 AM
@yossarian - LOL!

YeezusWept - 7/14/2014, 9:19 AM

The last couple of tv spots spoil that, though I'm aware a lot of people are keeping from watching them for that reason.
DannyRand1225 - 7/14/2014, 9:19 AM
the chemistry between the team is great, its amazing how natural the interactions between the CG characters are
