The Controller A Villain In GUARDIANS OF THE GALAXY?

In keeping with Latino Review’s latest scoop, a supervillain for Marvel Studios' forthcoming space epic, Guardians of the Galaxy, has been revealed to have a connection with the Mad Titan Thanos.

The latest Exclusive from Latino Review once again concerns Marvel Studios’ 2014 much-anticipated Guardians of the Galaxy adaptation. With the James Gunn-directed space epic in its casting stage, the Latino outlet has it “on good authority” that the supervillain known as Basil Sandhurst, aliased The Controller, will be one of the characters who’ll take on the interstellar superteam, but that’s not all. “I’m told that The Controller will act as Thanos’ main henchman and ambassador.” While the Mad Titan’s cameo in Marvel’s The Avengers’ mid-credits stinger has fueled speculation that Thanos will appear in Joss Whedon’s 2015 sequel in addition to Guardians of the Galaxy, Latino Review suggests the purple supervillain’s inclusion is only “a strong possibility.”

Anyhow, as LR and Wikipedia note, The Controller designed his armored exoskeleton, which is micro-surgically attached to his body from head to toe and grants him mobility, as well as superhuman strength and endurance. He uses “slave discs” to control others, using the micro-circuitry in his helmet to drain cerebral energy from his victims to power his exoskeleton and magnify its strength and duplicate his victim’s abilities. In the comics, Thanos released The Controller from prison, upgraded his technology and promised him rulership of Earth. What do you think?

Marvel Studios presents “Guardians of the Galaxy”—A big space epic featuring an unlikely cast of Marvel characters, including Star-Lord, Gamora, Drax the Destroyer, Groot and Rocket Raccoon, who must team up in order to defeat a cosmic force of epic proportions. So far starring Chris Pratt and directed by James Gunn from a screenplay by James Gunn, “Guardians of the Galaxy” is based on the Marvel comic book series “Guardians of the Galaxy,” first published in 1969 and revived in 2008. Walt Disney Studios Motion Pictures will distribute “Guardians of the Galaxy” on August 1, 2014, in 3D. In addition, Marvel Studios will release a slate of films based on other iconic Marvel characters including “Iron Man 3” on May 3, 2013; “Thor: The Dark World ” on November 8, 2013; “Captain America: The Winter Soldier” on April 4, 2014; the sequel to “Marvel's The Avengers” on May 1, 2015; and “Ant-Man” on November 6, 2015!

Wtf does Controller have to do with Thanos?

Also, no source, and your article's end got cut off.
JordanKing - 4/3/2013, 10:40 AM
@DrDoom Gee, maybe he's still working on it.
thanos83 - 4/3/2013, 10:41 AM
GetsugaTensho22 - 4/3/2013, 10:45 AM
Also, we already had "The Other" working in that capacity. If anything, THAT serves to act as the connection between Avengers and GoTG, if nothing else. I don't see why this would happen.
DrDoom - 4/3/2013, 10:47 AM

Shouldn't have posted it if it wasn't at least functional.

He has alot to do with Thanos, even if he doesn't they'll make him have something to do with him.
JerBear - 4/3/2013, 10:57 AM
I don't think they're going to throw "The Other" away, they're just giving him a name.
JatevinM - 4/3/2013, 11:00 AM
We have already been told officially that The Other is going to be a major character coming up
Invictor - 4/3/2013, 11:15 AM
I think that The Controller and Thanos look much alike:

Don't you think?
SageMode - 4/3/2013, 11:16 AM
So the plot thickens .
JerBear - 4/3/2013, 11:16 AM
Latino Review gave us the first news of Batroc the Leaper.
Invictor - 4/3/2013, 11:16 AM
Oh, you guys should read The Controller photo I posted, I guess he is affiliated with Thanos!
SageMode - 4/3/2013, 11:17 AM
Wow DOOM, get off your high horse, huh?
Happy11 - 4/3/2013, 11:19 AM
I have a bad feeling about this movie.

I think the two villains will have a Megatron & Starscream relationship. This guy is the agent of many characters so, you can expect him to turn his back on Thanos when Thanos is most hurt or inferior.
Invictor - 4/3/2013, 11:28 AM
But the thing is The Controller is American, so I wonder how they will adapt him in space, unless his helmet/armor allows him to breathe in space.
TheGreenBastard - 4/3/2013, 11:30 AM
Meh, I'll believe it when it's officially announced, I don't believe anything Latino Review says.
Invictor - 4/3/2013, 11:31 AM
@MARVELPSYCHO79, Maybe so, but don't forget in his surgically attached exoskeleton armor, he can lift approximately 50 tons and his armor and take cerebral energies and convert it to physical strength, but yeah, I'd like him better as an alien.
95 - 4/3/2013, 11:34 AM
Marvel Studios have been using a lot of lesser-known characters for secondary and tertiary antagonists. I like that.
marvel72 - 4/3/2013, 11:34 AM
he was released from prison by the alien thanos, who upgraded his technology.thanos promised the controller rulership of earth, and so he began enslaving dozens of operatives.he invaded avengers mansion & defeated the avengers & captain mar-vell.the controller's egotistical displays endangered thanos's security,& when the controller failed to defeat thanos's enemy, captain mar-vell,the alien left him for dead.
Chewtoy - 4/3/2013, 11:35 AM
I'm personally of the opinion that Thanos won't play a major role in things until Avengers 3, but he'll be pulling the strings and putting pieces into place in the background until then. So I never really expected him to be the main villain of GotG. The Controller certainly works as the villain, backed by Thanos just as Loki was for Avengers 1.
aRandomSinisterClone - 4/3/2013, 11:35 AM
he looks like he's trying to hard to be Darkseid. Standing with his hands behind his back like that.
95 - 4/3/2013, 11:35 AM
And El Mayimbe... he pissed me off by hyping that WW fan film... but otherwise his "scoops" are always worth noting.
aRandomSinisterClone - 4/3/2013, 11:36 AM
^chewtoy has the right idea, keep him as the man behind the curtain for as long as possible. these damn movies dont have enough foreplay damnit!
Invictor - 4/3/2013, 11:39 AM
@marvel72, "when the controller failed to defeat thanos's enemy, captain mar-vell, the alien left him for dead.", that's exactly what I'm trying to say when it comes to the Megatron & Starscream relationship.
Invictor - 4/3/2013, 11:39 AM
Great insight, marvel72!
sephiroth211 - 4/3/2013, 11:39 AM
Another fine article DCMF.

80sFace - 4/3/2013, 11:40 AM
Considering Loki used that staff in The Avengers for mind control, I have a hard time believing we'd see another mind control-type situation.
Ocelot - 4/3/2013, 11:44 AM
the controller will probably fail to do what he's been tasked to do by the other and thanos , which leads to thanos abandoning him and deciding that if you want to get something done, you got to do it yourself, which then leads into the avengers 2
marvel72 - 4/3/2013, 11:45 AM
@ marauder

thanks i had to do a little research,i own every thanos appearance from iron man 55 - the thanos imperative.
caveman - 4/3/2013, 11:45 AM
Latino Re-WHO!?
DanteSparda - 4/3/2013, 11:47 AM
Where is The Other?
Ocelot - 4/3/2013, 11:52 AM
then again they could just make "the other" the controller, he did control the chitauri after all, maybe he's out to prove himself to thanos after his failure in the avengers
marvel72 - 4/3/2013, 11:52 AM
latino review did say thanos would appear in the avengers & that marvel would announce a guardians of the galaxy movie at comic con, they were right about that.
polarkyle - 4/3/2013, 11:53 AM
By the way, that rumor they had had about Chris Nolan taking over the DC cinematic universe, hows that going because we haven't heard anything on it
MyInnerDork - 4/3/2013, 11:54 AM
Thanos has already been confirmed to be showing up at some point in Guardians of the Galaxy. So the fact LR is hinting that he might not be in it proves they don't know what they're talking about.

Please stop using them as a source unless you're reporting everything as a rumor, which is the majority of their "scoops" anyway.
