OFFICIAL SYNOPSIS: From Marvel, the studio that brought you the global blockbuster franchises of Iron Man, Thor, Captain America and The Avengers, comes a new team--the Guardians of the Galaxy. An action-packed, epic space adventure, Marvel's "Guardians of the Galaxy" expands the Marvel Cinematic Universe into the cosmos, where brash adventurer Peter Quill finds himself the object of an unrelenting bounty hunt after stealing a mysterious orb coveted by Ronan, a powerful villain with ambitions that threaten the entire universe. To evade the ever-persistent Ronan, Quill is forced into an uneasy truce with a quartet of disparate misfits--Rocket, a gun-toting raccoon; Groot, a tree-like humanoid; the deadly and enigmatic Gamora; and the revenge-driven Drax the Destroyer. But when Quill discovers the true power of the orb and the menace it poses to the cosmos, he must do his best to rally his ragtag rivals for a last, desperate stand--with the galaxy's fate in the balance.

Marvel's Guardians of the Galaxy, which first appeared in comic books in MARVEL SUPER-HEROES #18 (Jan. 1969), stars Chris Pratt, Zoe Saldana, Dave Bautista, featuring Vin Diesel as the voice of Groot, Bradley Cooper as the voice of Rocket, Lee Pace, Michael Rooker, Karen Gillan, Djimon Hounsou, with John C. Reilly, Glenn Close as Nova Prime Rael and Benicio del Toro as The Collector.
James Gunn is the director of the film with Kevin Feige producing, and Louis D'Esposito, Victoria Alonso, Jeremy Latcham, Alan Fine and Stan Lee serve as executive producers. The story is by Nicole Perlman and James Gunn, with screenplay by James Gunn. Marvel's "Guardians of the Galaxy" releases in U.S. theaters on August 1, 2014.

In addition to "Guardians of the Galaxy," Marvel Studios will release a slate of films based on the Marvel characters including "Captain America: The Winter Soldier" on April 4, 2014; "Avengers: Age of Ultron" on May 1, 2015; and "Ant-Man" on July 31, 2015.

CrimsonFlash - 8/3/2014, 6:58 AM

Let's hope Guardians crosses 100 million dollars today. All it needs is $29.1 million to do so. So, all you guys in America, keep seeing Guardians a a much as you can and don't stop.
JosephKing - 8/3/2014, 7:01 AM
I liked it, but oddly enough I think it's better when it's not trying to be Star Wars. Still, it's a good movie. Captain America 2 is a lot better, though.
Maestro - 8/3/2014, 7:15 AM
Sci-fi cbms are back! I can't thank Gunn align. I just kept thinking about how rich marvel cosmic is. So glad GOTG2 is being made.

GOTG > Avengers
JorL5150 - 8/3/2014, 7:19 AM
I your children don't worship GOTG - kill them.

Then kill yourself for having such shitty kids.
AlexanderLykins - 8/3/2014, 7:19 AM
So darn cool that so many people care about the MCU.
Abary - 8/3/2014, 7:20 AM
I wonder how Kevin Bacon reacted to being referenced in the movie.
Maestro - 8/3/2014, 7:20 AM
Groot was easily my favorite. So loyal and powerful, and selfless and awesome.
jackmamma - 8/3/2014, 7:20 AM
took my family and my parents to see it yesterday. The best fun i ever had in a theater next to the avengers. Can't wait to see it again
KurtWagner1225 - 8/3/2014, 7:23 AM

patrat18 - 8/3/2014, 7:23 AM
"Marvel should put Rocket Raccoon in Captain America 3 as extra ammo in the big opening day face off with Batman v Superman".

LMAO Good luck.
BlinkyStark - 8/3/2014, 7:24 AM
GOTG > Man of Steel

Man of Steel solid 2 for me

so damn awesome
Maestro - 8/3/2014, 7:24 AM
Man!! I can't say enough about the uniqueness of this movie. From yondu to Ronan to the collector, etc. All of these different and unique characters being SO MUCH personality to the film.

I also LOVED The Collectors clothing. The may unique space outfit I've ever seen.
bropous - 8/3/2014, 7:24 AM
So cool to hear both John Stamos and Kevin Bacon's reactions to this film!
patrat18 - 8/3/2014, 7:24 AM
Days of future past
Cap 2
Maestro - 8/3/2014, 7:26 AM
Typos galore. Lol
Hawksblueyes - 8/3/2014, 7:26 AM
I honestly believe that any comic fan who doesn't enjoy this film, is incapable of relaxing and letting themselves enjoy anything without picking it apart. This movie is pure fun.
Maestro - 8/3/2014, 7:28 AM
I want more marvel cosmic!!!

It's so rich with amazing characters and places. I also hope DC makes a new GL now.
xcan - 8/3/2014, 7:29 AM
For all those shouting things like "gotg greater than avengers"- come back to me in a year as it is nowhere close... or should I say 'knowhere' close to the avengers in terms of anything.

Frustrating average to annoying movie, but I like what it opens up for future pf
xcan - 8/3/2014, 7:31 AM
Frustratingly average... future projects. Stupid Samsung typing :(

Haven't had so much fun in the theater since I seen the Avengers. It was engaging from start to finish. It deserves the praise it's getting. Will be seeing it again later on today
MarvelFan15 - 8/3/2014, 7:42 AM
Well, make sure you do. And, see it in IMAX 3D.
KurtWagner1225 - 8/3/2014, 7:42 AM
oh man...John Stamos tweet is great
SageMode - 8/3/2014, 7:43 AM

Exactly man. They're just anxiously waiting for Marvel to fail at something, now that it turned into eggs being thrown in their faces now they're turning their gears towards saying that Ant-Man is gonna flop. They just don't learn, do they? Lol.
ATrueHero1987 - 8/3/2014, 7:48 AM
@OmegaDaGod "It's just crazy seeing the reaction to this movie. Literally 2 months ago people were saying it would flop, or that it was going to suck at the very least" That is true!

"Now it's become a true event, smashing records and showing how much risk can pay off" That is also true! :)
wcavenger - 8/3/2014, 7:53 AM
The movie is PHENOMENAL! Best movie of the year hands down!
Havensent - 8/3/2014, 7:54 AM
Am I the only one laughing his ass off that Kevin Bacon has the image of Roger in costume as him as his Twitter avatar? XD

Marvel is as, Daniel Alter said, leap years ahead of other studios.
RRA - 8/3/2014, 7:55 AM
Marvel is a legit brand name now. I mean they just scored a friggin hit with a film that involves ZERO Avengers.

Hell at this rate if they can cut a decent ad campaign and produce at least a decent afternoon-killing film, ANT-MAN will do decent. Or at least far from the bomb the Internet has deemed it since Wright quit.
marvel72 - 8/3/2014, 7:56 AM
marvel studios the most dominate force in the world of comic book movies, now is the time to expand your cosmic universe.

guardians of the galaxy 2
the inhumans
captain mar-vell
ms.marvel aka captain marvel
the annihilators
ultron (annihilation conquest)
wcavenger - 8/3/2014, 7:56 AM
I don't even care about a GL movie. Marvel Cosmic has always been better than the cosmic side of DC, in my opinion.
Rulk - 8/3/2014, 7:57 AM
This couldn't have gone BETTER!!!
