UPDATE: GUARDIANS OF THE GALAXY 'Alien Spaceship Crash' Filming Planned At UK Farmland

UPDATE: GUARDIANS OF THE GALAXY 'Alien Spaceship Crash' Filming Planned At UK Farmland

Revealing the film's first potential filming site on location, Marvel has requested temporary use of a farmland in the UK for scenes in Guardians of the Galaxy involving the aftermath of a crashed ship.

With Guardians of the Galaxy set largely in the depths of space, principal photography is primarily taking place on sound stages in UK film studios. However, given that producer Kevin Feige has previously implied that at least 5 percent of the movie is set on earth, recent proposal applications indicate the Marvel production is keen on shooting on a farmland in Bramley, Guildford, Surrey.

While Marvel is currently awaiting approval from the Waverley Borough Council, who've yet to report any objections, the application statement reveals, "The natural slope of the land at Tilsey Farm, Horsham Road, (photographed below) has informed the decision to film in this area as it creates an appropriate back drop to the proposed alien spaceship crash scene."

"The 'crash site' film set will be 75 metres by 75 metres and formed through the excavation of the soil to form an elongated 'crater,'"
a portion reads. "The estimated range of depth of dig will be 0.5 meters to 1.75 meters, below field level. The associated 'prop' debris of the 'spaceship' will be positioned on the site. The special effects to be used on the filming day only, will stimulate the immediate aftermath of a crashed space ship. Effects will include: Ground Hits (Pyrotechnic charge), Black Smoke, LPG Fire, White Smoke, and Wind Machines..."

UPDATE: a rendering of the film set reveals the scene(s) is being called 'Yondu's Crash,' indicating that actor Michael Rooker's character would be piloting the spaceship when it crash lands on earth.

The production timetable also reveals that set preparation would start on July 27th and last a maximum of two weeks before filming takes place for just a day, on August 23rd, with the farmland expected to be back to normal by early September. Anyhow, for other details, technicalities and associated work required to facilitate filming, check out the proposal applications here! Meanwhile, an extra hired on Guardians of the Galaxy recently revealed that his alien character required him to shave his head as he'll be wearing a prosthetic, have green eyes and fangs! What do you think?

Starring Chris Pratt, Zoe Saldana, Dave Bautista, Michael Rooker, Ophelia Lovibond, John C. Reilly, Enzo Cilenti, Lee Pace, Karen Gillan and Glenn Close with Benicio Del Toro, Guardians of the Galaxy is written & directed by James Gunn, and is set to be released in theaters on August 1, 2014.

Finally some news on the MOST anticipated Comicbookmove since the Avengers
MightyZeus - 7/5/2013, 9:28 AM
Awesome. Been waiting for some Guardians of the Galaxy news. I'm assuming the scene will introduce 'Peter Quill'.

Although i'm still curious who will be the voice actor cast as 'Rocket Raccoon'?
jcfrommars9 - 7/5/2013, 9:30 AM
Sounds great. I cannot wait to see the trailers let alone the movie.
ThisIsHeavy - 7/5/2013, 9:30 AM
So they're going for the "fish out of water" story.
OriginalGuardiansPlease - 7/5/2013, 9:33 AM
That extra has to be a Badoon.

Fangs check

Green eyes check

No hair check

TheAbomination - 7/5/2013, 9:37 AM
Finally some shooting news.
SageMode - 7/5/2013, 9:37 AM
Let the games begin
jcfrommars9 - 7/5/2013, 9:38 AM

Could be. Thanks to the Thor: The Dark World prelude comic book we know that the Badoon exists in the MCU. And if the Badoon are involved... *whistles*
Blarcade - 7/5/2013, 9:40 AM
I would love to hear Jason Statham as the voice of Rocket, such a small creature with a large man's voice. It could also be a chance for Nathan Fillion to participate. He says he's too busy to act in a comic movie, sure it won't take up that much time for some VO, he's no stranger to it.
MisterNiceGuy - 7/5/2013, 10:03 AM
I too have this as my most anticipated cbm since the avengers
MrCBM56 - 7/5/2013, 10:04 AM
I'm looking foward to this the most next year! GOTG will deliver, I'm very much sure of it!

And for people talking about a talking tree and raccoon can't work in this movie, Gullimero del toro will have a talking plant, (swamp thing), in heaven sent.

I can't wait for more news in this!!
MrCBM56 - 7/5/2013, 10:05 AM

Maybe it is for him, no need to insult him because he is very excited for this movie.
Sitterson - 7/5/2013, 10:06 AM
Spidey quit being such an asshole to everyone.
cerrone6 - 7/5/2013, 10:10 AM
could this scene be aliens going after peter quil or peters father?
TheDARKestKNIGHT - 7/5/2013, 10:12 AM
Who else thinks this is a flashback scene to when Quill's father crash lands on earth?

This will probably be the farmland Quill's mother lives on.
92Marvel - 7/5/2013, 10:14 AM

I bet this is when peter quill dad meets his mom.
I just thought that vin diesel could be playing the kree supreme intelligence, the controller, ronan, groot,or maybe thanos
92Marvel - 7/5/2013, 10:14 AM
KneelBeforeFEAR- I was thinking the same thing
jcfrommars9 - 7/5/2013, 10:15 AM

It's seems likely. I figure that the five percent of the movie that takes place on Earth almost certainly has to do with Quill and what happened to his parents.
MetalFaceDoom - 7/5/2013, 10:16 AM
Finally some news about a real cbm by a real cbm company! HAIL MARVEL!
MarvelousMarty - 7/5/2013, 10:24 AM
This is a few miles from my house.
Mercenary - 7/5/2013, 10:26 AM
Maybe Vin Diesel is playing Rocket
mmusicman - 7/5/2013, 10:36 AM
I know very little of GOTG...Chronologically, which team is 1st?...Vance Astro's or Starlord's? Thanks.
Omarvls - 7/5/2013, 10:44 AM
Well what other one do you think? and please don't say
Amazing Spider Man 2
jcfrommars9 - 7/5/2013, 10:47 AM

Vance Astro's which was in the late '60's. Peter Quill didn't even make an appearance until the '70's I think.
mmusicman - 7/5/2013, 10:52 AM
So in the 'Marvel timeline', Astro's team exists 1st? Is that right?
rockerdude22 - 7/5/2013, 10:54 AM
Yep, this is probably when Peter's dad crash lands on Earth. This is getting me more excited for this movie! Seriously, this is my most anticipated movie next year!

Now, if they'll only announce who's voicing Rocket...
sicknimon - 7/5/2013, 10:55 AM
Vance Astro was first. This is def about Quill's origin story. I really hope they don't spend too much screen time on this AND MOST IMPORTANTLY don't turn Peter into a weak character with daddy issues (seems thats what BMB's Guardians is doing). I don't care about Spartax, give me the Kree Hero!!!!!!!
Webhead007 - 7/5/2013, 10:56 AM
@92Marvel I was thinking the same thing!
TheGambitFreak - 7/5/2013, 10:57 AM
Dude I would die if Vin plays Rocket... Could see him as Groot easily too.
knocturnalzen10 - 7/5/2013, 11:02 AM
this will probably a great movie for actual comicbook readers but bad on sales..............
i hope not but most average govs have no idea of the characters
2gold - 7/5/2013, 11:05 AM
Vin Diesel could make a great Groot voice or Ronan the Accuser for a future Inhumans movie. Can they use Ronan?
ThePowerCosmic - 7/5/2013, 11:07 AM
The Badoon for sure! Awesome! coming for Starlords father or Peter himself.
sicknimon - 7/5/2013, 11:07 AM
Vin Deisel woudl be a great Ronan, best suggesetion I've heard yet. John C Reilly as Ronan??? WTF??!?
mmusicman - 7/5/2013, 11:07 AM
@Knocturnalzen...you can include me in that group. I'm only aware of Astro's team through Marvel TwoInOne, Defenders and Avengers. I didn't pick up any Star-Lord's comics in the 70's and I know nothing of his team. But, I'm willing to learn about them.
ATrueHero1987 - 7/5/2013, 11:08 AM
Finally some GOTG movie news!
jcfrommars9 - 7/5/2013, 11:08 AM

True, but this is something I'm certain Marvel is aware of and will work out in the year to come before it's release.
Equivocal - 7/5/2013, 11:11 AM
hot news !

like someone mentioned before, the leak pictures will look kinda weird, since almost everything will be taking place in space, so everything would be motion-cap ....
OriginalGuardiansPlease - 7/5/2013, 11:13 AM
Chronologically speaking the 31st century team was formed in the 31st century however chronologically speaking they appeared first back in the 70s because they traveled back in time...the new Guardians weren't formed until a few years back.

according to guardthegalaxy.com the crash site is called "Yondu's Crash". Yondu is a member of the original guardians of the galaxy and is supposed to be a villain in this movie...perhaps relating to the fact that his god Anthos is Thanos?
Kayo - 7/5/2013, 11:19 AM
good stuff..........me likey
Killuminatic - 7/5/2013, 11:30 AM
wtf? My comment isn't appearing...
