UPDATE: Jason Momoa In Talks For ‘Drax the Destroyer’ Role In GUARDIANS OF THE GALAXY
As a 150-foot asteroid nearly dropped on us just moments ago (passing earth safely), the ever-reliable guys at Latino Review have just dropped their latest scoop involving Marvel’s 2014 otherworldly venture, Guardians of the Galaxy. After nabbing Zero Dark Thirty star Chris Pratt for the lead role, Peter Quill AKA Star-Lord, the studio and director James Gunn have moved on to another Guardian, Drax the Destroyer. Latino Review reports that Conan the Barbarian actor Jason Momoa not only screen-tested for the role in London just last Wednesday, but that it was so good, “Marvel offered him the part and his reps have now countered.” Therefore, negotiations are underway. As reported exclusively last month, via Comic Book Movie’s Alex Lynch, actors/models Isaiah Mustafa, Brian Patrick Wade and former WWE Superstar Dave Bautista have all tested for the Drax role. Anyhow, Momoa, 33, is best known for his roles in Stargate: Atlantis, Game of Thrones, 2011 sword & sorcery flop Conan the Barbarian and he recently starred in Bullet to the Head. What do you think?
The latest Marvel scoop from Latino Review reveals that Game of Thrones actor Jason Momoa is near signing on for the Drax the Destroyer role in the 2014 space epic, Guardians of the Galaxy.
UPDATE: According to sources of The Hollywood Reporter, Jason Momoa has indeed tested for Drax the Destroyer, however, Marvel Studios has NOT offered him the part just yet. Of course, a deal could still be struck soon, as THR also points out. UPDATE #2: Latino Review is sticking to their report, adding that Momoa is asking for double the price Marvel has offered, considering “he was the only one who flew to London to screen test. He returns Saturday.”
