Mike Mignola Says No Hellboy 3 Movie

Bad news for Hellboy lovers! A recent interview about "Hellboy in Hell" with Mike Mignola doesn't make Hellboy 3 sound likely.

In an interview about the format of his "Hellboy in Hell" comics, Mike Mignola had bad news for Hellboy 3 hopefuls: "The biggest problem I see as far as PR for the next billion years is explaining endlessly not only that there's no 'Hellboy 3' movie, but it's going to be explaining '["Hellboy in Hell" is] a series, but it's not a monthly series.'

From the sounds of it, Mignola is pretty resigned. A Hellboy 3 would be nice, but it sounds like Mignola doesn't think it's in the cards.

Wow Torsen, all the news O_O

screw off with that noise. Hellboy has more fans than most CBM that aren't Marvel and DC.

second. Part of this was Del Toros shit. if you read the interviews for Hellboy 1 and then 2, del toro and Mignola seemed to split . I remember Del Toro saying the same things about Mignola, that he is now saying about Alex Ross.

When Del Toro started talking about the all these ideas He had for 3, Mike seemed very cautious and reserved about how he felt about that.

Del Toro seemed like he just took the property over and went from fan to controlling douche....IMO.

Wrong. This is what Mignola said on Facebook:

There are a couple articles out floating around out there right now that sort of make it sound like I don't want a third movie made or even implying that somehow I might in some way stopping a third one from being made--That's just stupid. I have no idea why these things are popping up now. I'm asked all the time if a third film is in the works and I always say there isn't--Because there isn't. Simple as that. Of course I would be thrilled to see a third one made. I know Ron would like to do it and I think if ANYONE could talk Universal into it it would be del Toro. After #2 someone at the studio assured me that they would NEVER make a third and that was the last contact I had with anyone at Universal. That was a long time ago and things change and I do hope things will change, but who knows. Certainly it all has nothing to do with me. The fate of a third film is entirely somewhere between del Toro and Universal.

In short, Mike would love for a third film and it's just up to Del Toro talking to Universal to convince them to make a 3rd.
