San Diego Comic-Con 2018 was initially going to be the date that Brightburn would be announced. Set for a late 2018 release at the time, James Gunn was set to headline a panel at Hall H introducing the film. Unfortunately, the movie was delayed due to the industry quaking events that occurred that morning. Now that everything has been resolved, the film's May debut is fastly approaching.

Earlier today, an extended look at the David Yarovesky-directed project was released along with a brand new poster, and both sell Brightburn's unique identity as a genre bending superhero horror film. Check 'em out:

I wish this movie was pitched to Snyder in 2012 so he wouldn't have touched the DC universe.

@THEDARKKNIGHT1939 - You make a valid point. This would have been a good fit for Snyder.

I'm not squeamish about much, but anything involving damage to the eyes (especially if it's due to sharp objects like knives or glass) just [frick]ing gets to me.

Can we just appreciate the fact that this is Gunns first legit tweet not about last years events. Soon hell be back tweeting Easter eggs about the Guardians movies and fun behind the scenes stuff. Also more Gunn fun facts and less Snyder tweets.

Is there going to be a Lex Luthor type of rich guy who shows up and merks this little super turd? I hope so! Lex has always been the hero of his own story.

So here's a twist - I love Guardians of the Galaxy and hate DC - especially Superman, but I loved Man of Steel and I think this looks stupid as f*ck.

so a Superman rip-off, but if he were evil 🤷🏻‍♂️
Origame

@kallel - well not really a rip off. More satire of the concept of superman, namely how things would really turn out if two random people ended up raising an all powerful alien. End result? Not good.
