Jonah Hill & Emma Stone Offered Roles In GHOSTBUSTERS 3?

It must be scoop day in Schmoeville! After reporting on the casting for both the Man Of Steel sequel and Terminator 5, the boys now have news on the troubled Ghostbusters threequel. Will Hill and Stone sign on to kick some specter ass?

We all thought this one would fall by the wayside after a very stormy start, but it seems as if production is going ahead on the long-delayed Ghostbusters 3. Dan Akroyd and co. may not have been able to convince 'ol Bill Murray (Peter Venkman) to return, but he may just have nabbed two of the hottest young properties in Hollywood as a consolation prize. According to The Schmoes' source, both Jonah Hill and Emma Stone have been offered the parts of a couple of characters named Jeremy and Anna. Who might they be? Well it's already been confirmed that this movie would deal with the original team recruiting younger members top take their place, so one would assume Anna and Jeremy must be two of 'em. This isn't the first time Hill's name has been mentioned in connection with this movie, as the actor has hinted that he'd be interested, in a jokey way, in the past. Of course even if this offer has been made, there's nothing to say these two talented actors will accept -- but what would you think of this casting if it worked out?

DAGuess - 11/6/2013, 5:13 PM
Called it! I totally named both of them as potential casting choices in an article I wrote months back.
revloveR - 11/6/2013, 5:15 PM

So many false starts with this movie. I've been waiting on GB3 since I first heard about 1999!!
InfiniteMonkey - 11/6/2013, 5:23 PM
Now all they need is Channing Tatum and the whole dumbass movie will go straight to the cellar of the boxoffice.
Christuffer - 11/6/2013, 5:34 PM
I still think Johnny Galecki would make a perfect son or grandson of Egon
BritishMonkey - 11/6/2013, 5:37 PM
I hope not. What a horrible rumour.

Giznad - 11/6/2013, 5:53 PM
yeah, Jonah Hill is kinda ok, but he's not Ghostbuster. I like Bill Hader. I think he's worthy. That's all I can think of right now. Oh, wait, Craig Robinson, too.
SuperCat - 11/6/2013, 6:03 PM
Figured they needed a chubby guy. Thought they'd consider Seth Rogen though.
jerryblake - 11/6/2013, 6:06 PM
just don't get Rogen And Franco on board. Unless it's the Pineapple Express 2 we are talking about.
superjustinsane - 11/6/2013, 6:19 PM
GOD Jonah Hill is such a crap actor
Demongod20 - 11/6/2013, 6:28 PM
Didn't they use the Ghostbusters 3 script that Dan Aykroyd wrote to make the last Ghostbusters video game?
ShreckGT350 - 11/6/2013, 7:03 PM
@ Giznad: YESSSSS Bill Hader would be AMAZING! He'd be my #1 pick, especially since he's now off SNL.

No, no, no to Jack Black as all his characters act the same, and pleeeeease do not have Seth Rogan as he'd be a big disappointment (Green Hornet anyone). These two would be perfect and I REALLY hope it is true!!!!
VISIONaryNPa - 11/6/2013, 7:04 PM
This is old news and the SHOMEDS don't know. they don't know....

They've already (at least Jonah) has been rumored to be in GBIII for a long, long time.

GBIII isn't getting made, I've been following Dan's word on this for the last 3 years. He had like 40 different drafts of the film already, and with Murray not even returning for a CAMEO, that's a big disappointment. no. sorry Dan, it's over. Just reboot it, or don't... I'll be happy either way.

Sorry, not sorry.

JediPhilosopher - 11/6/2013, 7:07 PM
Well, I don't get the choice of Jonah, but Ghostbusters is primarily a comedy, so you never know, it might work. The only thing I can figure about Bill Murray's complete lack of interest in Ghostbusters' continuation is a shortage of imagination, or he's become so completely cynical he thinks it would be impossible to continue Ghostbusters with anything near the quality or freshness of the original. I always think anything is possible.
VISIONaryNPa - 11/6/2013, 7:09 PM
Look at this... So much non-work done...

Even though Ghostbuster's may be a hot commodity, it will not be the same without Murray. "Passing the torch" to a "younger" generation of Ghostbusters is stupid as hell.

Get mid-30-early-40s actors like Bill Hader, (insert actor here), insert actor here), (insert actor here), and (insert ACTRESS here) and we'd have a great ol' ball of comedy gold.

No young actors, no way. Sorry.
GBIII with Jonah will would be like him in This is The End, sort-of...kinda.... just no.

JediPhilosopher - 11/6/2013, 7:11 PM
To be fair, Seth Rogan would be better suited to be in a Ghostbusters movie than Green Hornet. And Bill Hader could be awesome too. I could even see Jack Black adding something good to it all. Who cares if all his characters are the same? That character in a Ghostbusters movie could work.
lanternstorm - 11/6/2013, 7:16 PM
God I hate Jonah Hill... he should not be in another movie as long as he lives! Seriously, if he's in GB3 it will officially become THE WORST film in the series. Emma Stone on the other hand would be cool, Frick Jona Hill dude plays the same dumb ass character in every single movie he absolutely can NOT act.
JediPhilosopher - 11/6/2013, 7:17 PM
Random thought from nowhere: Richard Dawkins should show up in the movie somehow. The humorous possibilities are limitless.
Morbius - 11/6/2013, 7:18 PM
COOL BEANS I would love to see these two in a movie again.
ShreckGT350 - 11/6/2013, 7:20 PM
Personally, I just find Jack Black annoying. Again, that is just my personal opinion. So to have someone that I cannot stand be a part of my most cherished movie would stink. I just think there is better talent out there such as Bill Hader, Bobby Moynihan, Cecily Strong, or Jay Pharoah. Based on my selections, you can clearly see that they need to tap the SNL crew as they did in the previous movie.
JediPhilosopher - 11/6/2013, 7:21 PM
And the end boss they fight should be in the form of a flying spaghetti monster. At which point Richard Dawkins does a face palm and says "Oh, I should have known." :P
JediPhilosopher - 11/6/2013, 7:25 PM
@ShreckGT350 Yeah, I sort of agree with you. No need for JB to be in it, or especially not a main character for sure.
lanternstorm - 11/6/2013, 7:34 PM
the actors they should get other than Emma Stone are: David Krumholtz, Neil Patrick Harris, Jimmy Fallon, Jaleel White, and Johnny Galecki... you could also throw in Jim Parsons.
lanternstorm - 11/6/2013, 7:45 PM
However if they bring in Kylie Griffin they have to use Christina Ricci... no one else could pull it off.
ShreckGT350 - 11/6/2013, 7:53 PM
I like the Jim Parsons idea Lanternstorm. Good one!
RetroFit - 11/6/2013, 8:35 PM
I can't STAND Jonah Hill. If they're going with a schlubby guy, I'd rather Seth Rogen. And I'm sick of him, too. Emma Stone is cool, but she's getting overused and is pretty much the same thing in everything she does. I'd rather they picked Aubrey Plaza for the gratuitous chick role.

If I had to pick 4 people I wanted to see take over the Ghostbuster roles for G3 (while still having Akroyd and Egon in the movie) I'd pick:
- Aubrey Plaza
- Peter Dinklage
- Bill Hader or Adam Scott
- Craig Robinson
StatenMan18 - 11/6/2013, 8:42 PM
Bill Hader and Kristin wigg would be awesomeeeeeeee
Curmudgeon - 11/6/2013, 8:49 PM
Masi Oka, Donald Glover, Anton Yelchin...
GnomeSauce - 11/6/2013, 9:05 PM
Jonah Hill would be fantastic for this - Excited!
JFogg - 11/6/2013, 10:01 PM
Robert downey jr and jason segal!! Get them on board!
thewolveRAYne - 11/6/2013, 10:53 PM
Its not the ghostbusters without Bill...period
Moviefanatic14 - 11/6/2013, 11:06 PM
One of my fav childhood movies, hope it gets made
A2ron - 11/6/2013, 11:39 PM
These are some pretty good actors and Emma has great comedic timing, I thought Jonah was good in "This is the End" I hope this happens.
