New GODZILLA Featurette Released; "Meet The Director: Gareth Edwards"

Godzilla director Gareth Edwards talks in detail about his take on the highly anticipated remake, citing the original movies and Steven Spielberg as his inspirations. He also discusses the importance of finding the right balance between story and special effects. Check it out!

An epic rebirth to Toho's iconic Godzilla, this spectacular adventure, from Warner Bros. Pictures and Legendary Pictures, pits the world's most famous monster against malevolent creatures who, bolstered by humanity's scientific arrogance, threaten our very existence.

Gareth Edwards directs Godzilla, which stars Aaron Taylor-Johnson (Kick-Ass), Oscar® nominee Ken Watanabe (The Last Samurai, Inception), Elizabeth Olsen (Martha Marcy May Marlene), Oscar® winner Juliette Binoche (The English Patient, Cosmopolis), and Sally Hawkins (Blue Jasmine), with Oscar® nominee David Strathairn (Good Night, and Good Luck., The Bourne Legacy) and Bryan Cranston (Argo, TV's Breaking Bad).

Perfect director for this project. They couldn't have picked a better one.

I have this strange feeling we will only get Cloverfield style looks at the monsters. I don't think this will be anything like Pacific Rim in regards to the monster fighting. Instead of the fighting being the center of the action I'm sure we will be getting a POV from the ground or sky somewhere.
Amazing512 - 4/18/2014, 5:43 AM
Quicksilver and Scarlet Witch are going to kick Godzilla's a** to end the film, right?
Amazing512 - 4/18/2014, 5:44 AM
Ckal- Just saw Pacific Rim. I was really digging it in the beginning but it ultimately lost me. Still decent though

soforizo - 4/18/2014, 7:30 AM
If this plays out as expected, I want Gareth to direct a DC movie. Black Adam?
Shroombeast - 4/18/2014, 7:33 AM
Pacific Rim was amazing. But this is going to be different. Judging by the trailers, this may well be to Godzilla what The Dark Knight was to Batman.
Starfox - 4/18/2014, 7:34 AM
When People Talk About Pacific Rim.. They Are Not Talking About The Script or Dialogue. Its a Great Movie: Entertaining, Fun and Thrilling. I have yet to understand why people have so many issues with it.
soforizo - 4/18/2014, 7:34 AM
@Turk I'm excited for this because it's a WB movie. The last few years they've taken in the idea of keep things closer to what could happen and its consequences, instead of fairy tale endings.
soforizo - 4/18/2014, 7:34 AM

I agree. It was shitty in terms of script, dialogue and corny as well, but fun.
Starfox - 4/18/2014, 7:57 AM

Yeah, I mean it could have been a lot better if the script was well-written and it had better dialogue and story set up; but it still turned out pretty Good. I really would like to see Del Toro direct a CBM or maybe a DBZ film.
datNAMEtho - 4/18/2014, 8:09 AM
He got fat. The director.
Abary - 4/18/2014, 8:12 AM
Godzilla need to cut down on the pizza.
Starfox - 4/18/2014, 8:13 AM
@DestroyallTrolls Huh?
KBZ - 4/18/2014, 8:35 AM
As a fan of literally all iterations of Godzilla, I never understood the hate for Godzilla 98. Standard action movie plotting and some really incredible special effects for the time. I also really loved the idea of a faster Godzilla.

KBZ - 4/18/2014, 8:38 AM
This is going to be an incredible movie. Between the scale of Godzilla, the dark tone, and the incredible cast, I cannot wait for this.
KBZ - 4/18/2014, 8:39 AM
@DestroyAllTrolls the Heisei Godzilla was extremely porkie.
McGee - 4/18/2014, 8:47 AM
I'm also a fan of almost every version of Godzilla. My hate of the 90s Zilla is that it was a campy movie with cheap humor and a non-atomic breath skinny ass lizard that ran away from the military, hid from the military and could be taken out with one missile.
McGee - 4/18/2014, 8:47 AM
That's why I hated that shitty movie.
McGee - 4/18/2014, 8:51 AM
As a matter of fact...Someone post the YouTube video of the real Godzilla beating up 90s American Godzilla. I'm on my phone.
McGee - 4/18/2014, 8:52 AM
It's from the last Toho Godzilla film.
loki668 - 4/18/2014, 9:39 AM
I'm curious as to what the porn parody is going to be?
