Overwhelmingly Positive WORLD WAR Z Screening Reactions Hit Via Twitter

Brad Pitt surprised fans at an early screening of World War Z last night and we have reactions from them, journalists and celebrities who were all in attendance. It appears as if the movie might just be even better than any of us expected.! Read on for details.

Fans, journalists and celebrities all got the chance to catch an early screening of World War Z last night, and as you can see from the assortment of Tweets below, the reaction so far has been overwhelmingly positive. While it does appear as if it takes some liberties with the source material, this is good news for the movie which has reportedly been plagued by production problems for almost as long as it's been shooting. Of course, regardless of the response, the fact that the budget apparently ended up increasing dramatically may mean that World War Z struggles to be a hit at the box office (especially as Paramount haven't done the best of jobs marketing it so far, leading many to be unsure as to what the film is even about). Are you guys looking forward to it?

The story revolves around United Nations employee Gerry Lane (Pitt), who traverses the world in a race against time to stop the Zombie pandemic that is toppling armies and governments and threatening to decimate humanity itself. Enos plays Gerry’s wife Karen Lane; Kertesz is his comrade in arms, Segen.

Brad Pitt as Gerry Lane

James Badge Dale as Captain Speke
Lucy Aharish as ???
Julia Levy-Boeken as ???
Matthew Fox as ???
Elyes Gabel as Fassbach

Well that's...surprising.
CavEl - 5/23/2013, 2:15 AM
World War Z will bomb, one week after Man of Steel and the week of Monster's University ...again, nope.

MightyZeus - 5/23/2013, 2:23 AM
I knew this film would be great.
isa98 - 5/23/2013, 2:28 AM
Brad Pitt reaching out to some his celebrity friends to get this movie on the publics good side... I can't forgive this production for completely sodomizing such a solid novel.
Brainiac13 - 5/23/2013, 2:32 AM
This won't top MOS but I'm looking forward to this!
JohnLamb - 5/23/2013, 2:38 AM
I might see this.
jimoakley666 - 5/23/2013, 2:40 AM
I've not actually seen anything that's made we want to see this so far.

Is anyone else getting just flat out bored of zombie stories now?
Ceejay - 5/23/2013, 2:43 AM
This looked great anyway, the reviews haven' made any difference to my decision to see this first day of release.

Fast Zombies are bloody terrifying.
GrimFeature - 5/23/2013, 2:44 AM
This is great news. I never believe bad reports anyway.
dcbat - 5/23/2013, 2:57 AM
dying to see this.
pun intended.
WarnerBrother - 5/23/2013, 3:03 AM

I disagree,MOS will be very front loaded with fans showing up in mass opening weekend.Monsters University will do the same thing the next week because the family audiences will have been starved for content for over a month since EPIC opened.

None of the core audience for Monsters will be in play for WWZ,but I would add that after seeing the forth MOS trailer, that film will lose family audiences who will think the film is too intense for younger kids.

That leaves a big chunk of viewers who will have rushed out to see MOS opening weekend needing another tent pole movie fix.

While I want MOS to get lots of repeat business, I doubt a lot of folks will do that choosing to move on to the next big release and waiting for MOS to hit Blu ray.

Brad Pitt is a huge draw to female audiences,a group that tends to be underserved during the summer season (See Star Trek ITD) and if the marketing makes WWZ a combination of beefcake (Brad Pitt) and a lot of jump out of your seat moments,
WWZ could oddly enough become a form of counter programing for MOS among women.

staypuffed - 5/23/2013, 3:18 AM
It looked crap from the first images.
woodsy100 - 5/23/2013, 3:55 AM
Wow - I really should not have watched that trailer. Oh well, no need to see the film now I guess.
SuperPickle - 5/23/2013, 3:59 AM
That's nice, but every movie, regardless of how crappy it is, has these tweet reviews the next day. And let's be honest, people like Katie Couric, Ivanka Trump, and Deborah Norville are not the people who's taste in movies I trust.

Plus, it could be that they're just giving it good press because Pitt was there and many of these reviews are from people who know him personally. I'll be damned if I'm ever going to publicly pan a buddy of mine's work, especially if he was cool enough to let me into the advance screening.

I guarantee you could find just as many "positive" tweets about Green Lantern.
CaptainAmerica31 - 5/23/2013, 4:02 AM
Who else thinks this might be the planet of the apes of this year?
NiklanderReborn - 5/23/2013, 4:06 AM
Look movie will be like RISE OF THE PLANET OF THE APES meaning a sleeper hit
FrenzyFreak - 5/23/2013, 4:09 AM
@Beatnation Its one thing if you say IM3 is crap as your opinion, but your saying it likes its fact. It got positive first reviews because it was enjoyed by the vast majority of the general audience as well as critics. It had its flaws and wasn't what I expected, but it was very far away from crap.
Thegeekygurl - 5/23/2013, 4:15 AM
@Beatnation Haha! IM3 was really bad.

But WWZ is like a wildcard.
Either the public will go crazy for it or it will be an average grossing summer film.
It could be huge internationally considering the story is a WW ever.

WWZ, MOS and The Wolverine will be the only great Summer films.

JGAR - 5/23/2013, 4:16 AM
Screw the haters, this movie will be awesome!
ManCalledSting - 5/23/2013, 4:27 AM
If they would have followed the books format, they would have had a potential blockbuster. Instead we get the rehashed tired "one man must save the world" story. Makes me wish Leo DiCaprio's production company would have won the rights to this film.
TheRedSkull - 5/23/2013, 4:29 AM
The dark horse just like Dredd last year. Brilliant movie, passes by with no one hearing it
GeekyCheekyChic - 5/23/2013, 4:36 AM
wow Katie Couric gave it a thumbs up.....ANYWAY Man of Steel will be seen repeatedly. No time for World War Z unless I need a break from Kal El.
ahhmynuts - 5/23/2013, 4:38 AM
"its not like the book wah wah wah"
*watches 30 sec trailer* "yeah this movie will suck balls"
eff yall! knew this movie was gonna be awesome!
ParisSun - 5/23/2013, 4:46 AM
Got to love the DC pups still yelping about IM3. It's so sad that you can't get your head around the fact that the general public as well as many comic book fans loved the movie.

I know it hurts that you only have one movie to look forward to and Marvel keeps raping DC over and over but you are starting to look pathetic now.

It's also funny how DC fans are paning this movie because they fear it will steal box office from MoS. What a bunch of sad sacks. I bet you all will believe the twitter feeds from MoS if it's positive.
DoubleD - 5/23/2013, 4:55 AM
AWESOME ! This movie is going to be the SURPRISE HIT of the year.

Man of Steel, June 14th, then World War Z an Monster University 7 days later on June 21st. I Will be living at the movie theatre for two weeks.

Also want to see the PURGE released June 7th an the White House Down, June 28th, director Roland Emmerich an written by Amazing Spider-Man's writer James Vanderbilt
starkresilient - 5/23/2013, 5:02 AM
wow I didn't see that coming but I am happy about it
kadetra - 5/23/2013, 5:04 AM
M.O.S is the only D.c movie coming out in the next two years, i kinda wonder what you D.c fans would do next year.
kadetra - 5/23/2013, 5:06 AM
IM3 might not be a great movie but at least it is better than almost all non Nolan D.c movies.
DoubleD - 5/23/2013, 5:07 AM
Man of Steel is going to be good but it's got it's hand full with a bunch of major hits also being released in June.

June 14th = Man Of Steel

June 21st = World War Z & Monster University. Sequel to Monsters Inc.is GOING TO BE A MONSTER at the Box Office. This movie is going to suck money from box office numbers like there is no tomorrow.

June 28th = White House Down Directed by the man that gave us INDENDENCE DAY ! Roland Emmerich.
DoubleD - 5/23/2013, 5:12 AM
kadetra, your right DC fans are looking at 2 maybe even 3 years before another DC movie. Worst yet if MoS don't make Warner Brothers happy DC fans will be waiting 10 years for the next Batman re-boot.

But at least for now, the next 2 to 3 years will Be all Marvel movies were talking about. Marvel releases 3 to 4 movies EVERY YEAR until 2100
kadetra - 5/23/2013, 5:12 AM
it would be funny if Thor a C-list character makes more money than Superman.
ManCalledSting - 5/23/2013, 5:13 AM
It's not that it strayed from the source a bit, it's that it is nothing like the book. Super fast cgi zombies that look as bad as the crappy Day of the Dead remake, and the "Brad Pitt must save the world" format looks like pure rubbish. I wonder how many that are saying "this will be awesome" haven't even read the book. This sadly is simply WWZ in name only. Such a wasted oppurtinity.
rocky - 5/23/2013, 5:15 AM
Glad to hearthe film is good. Ilove the trailers and look of it.

I wish they'd titled it something else so the book could be turned into an anthology on a cable network the one and only way the book should be adapted faithfully
rocky - 5/23/2013, 5:16 AM
As far as MOS goes I've no doubt it'll break 300mil but I'm thinking good word of mouth will propel it to 400

ahhmynuts - 5/23/2013, 5:16 AM
just because it doesnt follow the book doesnt mean it'll be bad...

ps read it.loved it.
ManCalledSting - 5/23/2013, 5:17 AM
Idk why people think Monsters U will harm Man of Steel. One is a movie for kids, one is not. That's like saying a Dora the Explorer on Wii would harm the sales of Call of Duty.
ManCalledSting - 5/23/2013, 5:21 AM
Ahhmyuts: Agreed....however, everything I've read, and seen, makes this look like garbage. It's called WWZ simply for name recognition, and nothing more, which is why it should be called something else.
DoubleD - 5/23/2013, 5:25 AM
DarthJericho, Mothers, fathers, & their Children can't be in 3 places at once. Look at all box office numbers an you will see mothers and kids determine what movies are big hits. COME ON ! Man of Steel was supposed to be released last year in 2012 but WB moved it because of to much competition. Man of Steel has been sitting on a shelf for one year because of to much competition
grabass - 5/23/2013, 5:28 AM
Sorry but I don't give a runny shit what Jim Fallon, Ivanka Trump or Katie Couric think.
