Paul W.S. Anderson Returning To Direct RESIDENT EVIL 6

Paul W.S. Anderson Returning To Direct RESIDENT EVIL 6

Simply because everyone is looking forward to another chapter in the Resident Evil franchise, it has been confirmed that director Paul W.S. Anderson is set to return for the upcoming sixth installment starring Milla Jovovich...

Raise your hand if you can't wait for the new Resident Evil movie. No one? Okay. Screen Gems have recently set a release date for Resident Evil 6, and the upcoming sequel will hit theatres on September 12th, 2014. Now, thanks to First Showing, we now know that Paul W.S. Anderson is coming back to helm the next film in this (surprisingly) successful franchise starring Milla Jovovich as 'Alice'.

I'm not a big fan of these films, because, well, they are not that good. Which is a shame, since the video games are pretty great (especially the early ones). But, Resident Evil: Retribution, the latest film in the franchise, made over $220 million at the worldwide box office on a $65 million budget, so that's a nice profit for the studio. Anyway, we'll see about this new one, although Anderson's track record doesn't exactly boost up a whole lot of confidence.

sephiroth211 - 3/13/2013, 2:21 PM
Who keeps paying to see these movies?!
megabatfan - 3/13/2013, 2:23 PM
Really don't understand how crap shows like these keep making sequel after sequel after sequel, when other properties with much more potential don't get a sequel green-lit even if the first movie didn't do so well.
DivinePeaceTime - 3/13/2013, 2:23 PM
As a long time fan of the video games...I really hope this is the last one...
Jer3miah - 3/13/2013, 2:23 PM
The Twilight fans.
HellsHammer - 3/13/2013, 2:25 PM
Jeez. This series needs to die already.
LucasMend - 3/13/2013, 2:25 PM
Oh god, enough with this, REBOOT!
Tony93 - 3/13/2013, 2:27 PM

BrotherStarkofMABMindz - 3/13/2013, 2:27 PM
This franchise belongs to Milla and the director so this shit is pointless to care about
DrDoom - 3/13/2013, 2:27 PM
Can't we get a reboot with the movies taking the plot from the games?
NoJobBOB - 3/13/2013, 2:28 PM
Seriously? Another one of these [frick]ing shitty movies?

MisterBabadook - 3/13/2013, 2:28 PM
I agree: this needs a reboot from a true horror visionary
SpectacularJoSh - 3/13/2013, 2:31 PM
That's what these movies are.Reboot this fuucking shit already.

Oh yeah,that's right...
beane2099 - 3/13/2013, 2:33 PM
I'm in the minority of folks who liked these movies. They remind me of crappy Sat afternoon movies from my childhood. But they lost even me at the fifth one. That bit with playing the beginning in reverse and forward again iritated the hell out of me. I won't be seeing the next one.
sephiroth211 - 3/13/2013, 2:34 PM
This is who these films should have been about.

Then they wanna slap me in the face and half ass throw Jill in this last movie.

@Jer3miah: Those Twilight fans not to be drug into the streets and caned then.

Fornication - 3/13/2013, 2:36 PM
What a surprise!
Infaredfield - 3/13/2013, 2:36 PM
I'll only see it if Chris, Claire, Leon, Jill, and Ada come back
GUNSMITH - 3/13/2013, 2:37 PM
beane2099 - 3/13/2013, 2:37 PM
Guess I should also mention I worked at a movie theater for three years so I didn't pay any actual money to see these in theaters (saw the first two on TNT). That's another reason I won't see the next one. I can't get myself to pay actual money for this.
marvel72 - 3/13/2013, 2:38 PM
reboot the franchise follow the game storylines more.
Gulon180 - 3/13/2013, 2:38 PM
hack director making hack film, staring his hack wife....itll make millions.
sephiroth211 - 3/13/2013, 2:40 PM
Crap like this get a sequel...while movies like Dredd get snubbed?

Those two scenes alone destroy whatever Paul W.S. Anderson has regurgitated onto film so far.
Deadmensriot - 3/13/2013, 2:40 PM
Why won't it stop!?... I'll go cry in the corner
DRMidNite - 3/13/2013, 2:42 PM
Really? Another one?
IIIAdamantiumIII - 3/13/2013, 2:45 PM
my god the last one was TERRIBLE
ATrueHero1987 - 3/13/2013, 2:46 PM
Please reboot this damn franchise or just STOP!
Unfortunately, as long as this keeps making money, they will keep making movies.
ATrueHero1987 - 3/13/2013, 2:47 PM
Plus these movies are starting to have a bad effect on the games.
Spideyguy94 - 3/13/2013, 2:49 PM
Who goes to see these movies?
jjk2814 - 3/13/2013, 2:52 PM
As much as I think a more loyal and serious reboot would be great...

These...dare I still call them "movies"...are a bit of a guilty pleasure.
devil - 3/13/2013, 2:56 PM
kiil the movie now gone to the dog houes
Fornication - 3/13/2013, 2:57 PM
I wonder of kind of person actually pays to watch this shit.
Invictor - 3/13/2013, 2:58 PM
The film IS Resident Evil....
xRelentlessx - 3/13/2013, 2:58 PM
Why the [frick] do people go see these stupid movies?
AlexDeLarge87 - 3/13/2013, 3:01 PM
NeoBaggins - 3/13/2013, 3:02 PM
I bet these same people flock to every Fast and Furious sequel as well.
Mandoman - 3/13/2013, 3:04 PM
Just redboxed the last one this past weekend it was hilariously atrocious. Not only did it blatantly ripoff other more popular movies to the point of parody it also ripped itself off. Not only that, but did they really have to make it obvious that they dubbed Ada?
Cerebro - 3/13/2013, 3:08 PM
No, just...No.
LAXtremest - 3/13/2013, 3:15 PM
Worst movie of last year... Right behind Ghost Rider 2 that is.
