V/H/S Director David Bruckner Set To Helm FRIDAY THE 13TH Reboot

V/H/S Director David Bruckner Set To Helm FRIDAY THE 13TH Reboot

Marcus Nispel already rebooted Friday the 13th in 2009, but because that didn't make enough coin to merit a sequel (and was also rubbish incidentally) Paramount are giving it another go - this time with the man behind arguably the best segment in the V/H/S anthology in line to direct.

Like Jason Vorhees rising from the grave to dispatch another group of attractive morons, the Friday the 13th franchise just won't stay down. After Conan The Barbarian director Marcus Nispel brought us a lackluster reboot back in 2009, Paramount and Platinum Dunes are looking to David Bruckner (writer and director of the excellent “Amateur Night” segment of V/H/S) to breath new life into the hockey mask wearing killing machine. There were rumors that this new take would go the found footage route, and Bruckner's hiring would certainly lend credence to that..although The Wrap don't confirm it. Paramount will release the reboot on Friday, March 13, 2015. What do you guys think of this? They have a very good director on board at least..could this actually be worth making?

Ehh, maybe it will be good since I heard VHS was good. The originals sucked anyways.
TheRationalNerd - 4/15/2014, 3:52 PM
Hmmm, not too bad. I think the found footage approach could work for a film like this. I actually liked Bay's film too ((I think it was directed by him)

Two favorite V/H/S scenes...

(Viewers Beware, You're in for a Scare)

And how could we forget "Safe Haven"??

VHS was horrible. The first scene was actually kind of scary but it just got worse from there
ALegendaryPanda - 4/15/2014, 4:01 PM

Safe Haven was [frick]ing insane!
CaptainObvious - 4/15/2014, 4:01 PM
A reboot of a reboot.

GenerationX - 4/15/2014, 4:07 PM
They better get a move on then...I wish they would reboot Halloween. No childhood bullshit that Zombie broughy in, no crazy ass shit in the sequel, just pure brutal, gory, bloody killing....I don't give a shit about what happened to Michael as a chd. Stick to The Shape

TonyMasters - 4/15/2014, 4:24 PM
Loved VHS so it should be pretty dang good!
BrowniesExplode - 4/15/2014, 4:26 PM
Can we get a freddy vs jason sequel.
Darkknight2149 - 4/15/2014, 4:30 PM
At least it's not a sequel to that godawful 2009 reboot. I'll give this movie a shot. Hopefully they do something special with it since it's the 13th film in the franchise (and they already did 3D for the 3rd film).
JoJo1982 - 4/15/2014, 4:34 PM
But last remake did great in the box office
fortycals - 4/15/2014, 4:34 PM
If you do it do it right. No grounding in reality bullshit. I want a god damn indestructible zombie. No found footage. Use creative kills, Jason doesn't just use a knife. He yanks you out the tent while you're still in your sleeping bag, and slams againsta tree. He shoves poles through the out house while you smoke a joint.
JoJo1982 - 4/15/2014, 4:36 PM
What was awful about the remake???

It was just like any other Friday the 13th movie
Azrael725 - 4/15/2014, 4:38 PM
I've always loved Jason. he's always been my favorite slasher. I don;t like the idea of the found footage thing though. it's overdone and doesn't fit with the rest of the series. I did like the idea of having Jason out in the snow.
KiddSoul - 4/15/2014, 4:40 PM
How about...No! If they do reboot this better be good.

I want to see a Gremlins or Critters reboot.

There's one film that gave me the creeps when I was a kid. Anyone ever seen The Gate?
Hulksmashin - 4/15/2014, 4:43 PM

JoJo1982 - 4/15/2014, 4:52 PM
Yeah if they try to do the found footage thing that would really suck

Halloween resurrection did something similar and that turned into a big joke
TheRationalNerd - 4/15/2014, 4:52 PM
Rememebr they're also doing another Nightmare on Elm Street remake. So it should be pretty promising.
SpiderFraud - 4/15/2014, 4:54 PM
V/H/S is crazy overrated, plus found footage films are horrible...and let this franchise die already.
Inhuman - 4/15/2014, 4:58 PM
Are they serious??? smh
CharlesLord - 4/15/2014, 5:06 PM
um sorry but the 09 F13 reboot was good. They were workin on a sequel, guess things fell thru.
mctrinket - 4/15/2014, 5:06 PM
Supermandatory - 4/15/2014, 5:09 PM
Imagine if they rebooted movies in the 80's like they do now, we would never have anything original
yinyangpalms - 4/15/2014, 5:09 PM
There just isn't a market for 80's slasher films today.
Platinum - 4/15/2014, 5:15 PM
This franchise needs to die already, much like Jason though it'll just keep coming back.
Demongod20 - 4/15/2014, 5:22 PM

"A reboot of a reboot.

@ CaptainObvious

Same happen with Godzilla.... The first reboot was bad the current one actualy looks good. It's not all cut and dry. Some times it a good thing and some times it a bad thing.
GRAYSONEX - 4/15/2014, 5:23 PM
The 2009 remake was actually pretty good, in my opinion. It combined elements from the first four Friday the 13th movies surprisingly well.

I hope they still go with what the 2009 sequel would originally have and make it set during winter, that would be kick-ass.

a second reboot? no thanks. shove it.
JoJo1982 - 4/15/2014, 5:30 PM

Yep.... :(
whoelsebutkevin - 4/15/2014, 5:37 PM
The first two stories of VHS were great, truly scary stuff. Everything else wasn't that great. Enjoyed the sequel but it had weaker stories, still decent.
