WB Hoping To Give GREMLINS The Reboot Treatment

WB Hoping To Give GREMLINS The Reboot Treatment

"Bright light!" I suppose it was only a matter of time before they got around to this, but Vulture report that Warner Bros. are looking to bring Gizmo and his slightly less cute pals back to the big screen. Read on for details..

According to Vulture, Warner Bros. Pictures is negotiating with Steven Spielberg’s Amblin Entertainment to reboot their 1984 horror comedy, Gremlins. Apparently there have been numerous attempts to get the wheels in motion on this over the years but things always fell through, however, sources claim that this time it's looking good. That's pretty much all the info out there at the moment but we'll update if we find anything else out.

Gremlins was one of my favorite movies as a child and I still love the Hell out of it despite it dating a little around the edges. A less successful - and quite bizarre - sequel followed, and there was always talk of a third movie but nothing ever materialized. There's no doubt that Gizmo is one of the most adorable creatures to ever grace the screen, so I'm not altogether against another movie as long as it stays true to the original. In fact I hope this "reboot" is that in name only and we get some sort of continuation of the story, or at the very least not a complete rehash of the first one. What do you guys think? One reboot too far?

ManofSteel23 - 1/16/2013, 6:53 PM

BubblesShedAndBreakfast - 1/16/2013, 7:17 PM
I might give it a chance as long as there's no Corey Feldman!
RorMachine - 1/16/2013, 7:19 PM
Ha, oh yes! Bring back Feldman for a cameo just to have him brutally slaughtered..by Gizmo
DrDoom - 1/16/2013, 7:19 PM
Meh. Seems like a waste of time and resources, to be honest.
unknownfacts - 1/16/2013, 7:20 PM
It probably wont be as good as the original but then again most comedeies dark or other wises usaully don't.Comedy has changed in the past few years every thing is either hyper sexualize or body humor
Pharaoh - 1/16/2013, 7:20 PM

enoughs enough there's billions of awesome movies that could be made and all these reboot serve to prove is how amateur the people in charge of these movie companies are and how unimaginative and uncreative they and their staff are

if it was my company the second someone pitched me a reboot I'd fire their ass
DumbledoreCalrissian - 1/16/2013, 7:22 PM
i actually don't mind this reboot.
CaptainObvious - 1/16/2013, 7:28 PM
Reboot. Remake. They're all one and the same.
Jimdlux - 1/16/2013, 7:49 PM
Gremlins doesn't need a reboot, just a non-joke sequel similar to the original. I'm not saying not funny, just not cliche silly jokes that were in the Gremlins 2.
Pooh - 1/16/2013, 7:52 PM
A classic tale of good vs. evil. Kind of disturbing though.

"Gizmo kaka!"
RorMachine - 1/16/2013, 7:52 PM
Zack Galligan looks well for his age, I say bring back Billy

Pooh - 1/16/2013, 7:53 PM
That fountain scene at the end of Gremlins 1 was epic.
Pooh - 1/16/2013, 7:59 PM
@cipher, Great movie, 'Foul Play'. Don't know if I'd see a remake though. My second-favorite albino movie.
OriginalGuardiansPlease - 1/16/2013, 8:22 PM
bring it on...i love the 2 gremlins movies...however i prefer a sequel as opposed to a reboot
OriginalGuardiansPlease - 1/16/2013, 8:22 PM
a prequel would work too...maybe explain where the come from
DioFoRio - 1/16/2013, 8:23 PM
[frick] T H I S . this is my Christmas movie. After all the remakes we've seen come through our way over the years, this can only end one way.....like all the others, shit.
DioFoRio - 1/16/2013, 8:24 PM
sequel ...
DioFoRio - 1/16/2013, 8:27 PM
it's really astounding at all the creative people out there trying to get original shit out in the sci-fi,horror,fantasy genre. Yet we are relegated to remakes.
D117 - 1/16/2013, 8:31 PM
Great, ANOTHER reboot how original -__-

Pokeysteve - 1/16/2013, 9:24 PM
FINALLY!!! All the crap they've been remaking, I've been telling people for over a year they'd do this. Zach and Phoebe better at least get a cameo!
damntree - 1/16/2013, 10:35 PM
Sure, why not. It's not like because it's old people think it's a classic and will act all snobby about the remake.

They can remake Cloak and Dagger while they're at it.
lanternstorm - 1/16/2013, 10:45 PM
would they have Howie Mandell return to voice Gizmo?
devil - 1/16/2013, 10:54 PM
what the [frick] no way classic
Azrael725 - 1/16/2013, 10:56 PM
it's funny when i look at my previous comment because it looks like my avatar is yelling it hehe ;)
Bodwulf - 1/16/2013, 11:12 PM
Only remake i wanna see is Godzilla!!!!!
mgeoff88 - 1/16/2013, 11:25 PM
This doesn't surprise me at all... Can't WB just do a sequel? Why does it have to be a reboot?

I loved Gizmo when I was a kid! I bet you Gizmo will be completely CG in this reboot smdh.
Phlegmbot - 1/16/2013, 11:42 PM
At one point, a few years after Gremlins 2, they were planning a TV series. G2 was a brilliant send-up of the original...but the original's tone is probably what they're gonna go for. They're probably use that premise to dig further into the world of the Mogwai, the legend, the rules...it'll be like what MTV did w/Teen Wolf.
InfiniteMonkey - 1/16/2013, 11:56 PM
WB, haven't they got a Super hero movie to launch?

Pathetic...this is going to fail in any capacity.
Floke - 1/17/2013, 12:16 AM
Perhaps they will be aliens this time...
