Marvel's PLANET HULK Movie Rumor Debunked?

Marvel's PLANET HULK Movie Rumor Debunked?

This will probably make you guys happy and sad in equal measure. I'm sure you remember the rumor that Marvel would be planning a solo movie for The Green Goliath based on the Planet Hulk comics? Well, according to AICN that is definitely not happening. Read on for details..

A while ago, Latino Review posted a Marvel scoop that got everyone either really excited or really damn angry! The word was that a Planet Hulk solo movie was planned, leading into a World War Hulk type scenario with the MCU equivalent of The Illuminati for Avengers 3. Latino Review have been on point more often that not with these type of scoops, so despite the events being predicted being a loooong way away, fans went along with it. But, now we have Mr Beaks from AICN debunking the hell out of it. His sources reckon this is "1,000% inaccurate".

"According to my source, this just isn't happening - not as long as Marvel's got Mark Ruffalo committed to a six-picture deal as Bruce Banner. And that's the primary issue with PLANET HULK: Banner isn't in it at all (unless you count the WHAT IF... story where Banner is immediately killed upon reaching Sakaar).

To make sure, I went to a another source for confirmation, and they backed up every detail. PLANET HULK isn't happening."

He says he couldn't get any details on what the plans ARE post Avengers 2, but that Ruffalo's Banner would be an "integral part of that film". This is hardly surprising given the overwhelmingly positive response from both fans and critics alike to his performance in The Avengers, but I just figured that things would be reworked to include Banner more in the Planet/WW Hulk stories - I mean these are never literal interpretations anyway right? Yes the original rumor was always a bit far fetched, but - as you'll notice by the question mark in the title - we're not necessarily calling this a "debunk". I mean at the end of the day it's just one guy's sources over another, and both are reliable. Plus, like I said, this stuff is years away, who knows what could happen? Anyway, sound off with your thoughts below - do you think a Planet Hulk movie is still a possibility?

I'm Hoping Latino Review is right on this one, Planet Hulk sounds great
Hellsing - 2/27/2013, 5:46 PM
I sense a war will erupt between latino review and aicn, the nrw deadline vs thr/variety in the making. Bring it [frick]ing on!
EdgyOutsider - 2/27/2013, 5:52 PM
Holy shit, words can not explain how glad I am that Planet Hulk isn't happening.
JordanKing - 2/27/2013, 5:57 PM
Latino Review can be so full of BS, its a shame more people don't see that.

Take their latest Justice League "rumour" they had been building up for days on end. Turned out to be nothing more than a FAN TRAILER for freaking Wonder Woman.

Gee, thanks amigos!
FirstAvenger - 2/27/2013, 5:59 PM
Thank you GOD!!!!!!!
marvel72 - 2/27/2013, 5:59 PM
shame i really wanted a planet hulk film, maybe one day.
Hellsing - 2/27/2013, 5:59 PM
It must really suck to be the guy who dropped the scoop because now theres a vid of him on interwebs that will forever remind every one how wrong he was unless ofcourse aicn are the ones that are wrong.

Whatever the case, I'm not a big Hulk fan, Marvel Studios should have something good cookin' for their future films. However, I liked the Latino Review scoop, well, besides World War Hulk for Avengers 3.

That's what I thought @RorMachine. Planet Hulk wouldn't be a verbatim adaptation. Bruce Banner would definitely be included, I doubt Marvel Studios will ever do a film without a human lead. Plus, I thought Kevin Feige already expressed interest in the story?

Here's my list of the most likely Phase 3 movies, it includes the Hulk:
HongKongPooey - 2/27/2013, 6:01 PM
hmmmmmm who to believe?

@PantherX I don't follow that guy on Twitter, but I was keepin' a close eye on that "exclusive", yesterday. Pissed me off. That [frick]er needs to be shut down.
DrDoom - 2/27/2013, 6:03 PM
Knew it.
Durf - 2/27/2013, 6:04 PM
Well, no shit!
CharlesLord - 2/27/2013, 6:04 PM
wait didnt we know this wasnt gonna happen already? lol
xMichaelxScottx - 2/27/2013, 6:04 PM
@Lizard1 I'm with you because I want at least one Solo Hulk movie with Banner in it, and PH and WWH doesn't seem like it would work with Banner. I say continue some stuff with Leader or introduce Red Hulk. Bring in She-Hulk as long as it means a solo with Bruce Banner in it.
GuardianAngel - 2/27/2013, 6:06 PM
Called bullshit once I LatinoReview kept enphasizing that MARVEL would deny it.
manymade1 - 2/27/2013, 6:06 PM
Well if this is r=true, I'm wondering where Hulks gonna go that he hasn't already done.
manymade1 - 2/27/2013, 6:07 PM
Facade - 2/27/2013, 6:08 PM
Ok, can we get The Leader back in, now?
Coolwhip - 2/27/2013, 6:08 PM
I lost all respect for El Mayimbe (The Latino Review source) after last night's "huge JL scoop", which, as mentioned above, turned out to be nothing more than a stupid fan-made Wonder Woman trailer.
siggisuperman - 2/27/2013, 6:09 PM
I am certain planet hulk is not happening any time soon. It will go Phase 1-Avengers 1-Phase 2- Avengers 2- Phase 3- New Avengers.

New Avengers being a team made by Ant-Man and Wasp and consisting of Luke Cage, Iron Fist, Dr.Strange and some other character, Daredevil or Black Panther....
Jollem - 2/27/2013, 6:09 PM
why don't they care about hulk?
KeefNCookies - 2/27/2013, 6:10 PM
Wonderful news. Wouldve been not only premature, but straight up stupid considering the rumored details.
Maximillion - 2/27/2013, 6:11 PM

Hulk Mad!! Bad News for Hulk!!

marvel72 - 2/27/2013, 6:15 PM

Hellsing - 2/27/2013, 6:18 PM
Wow really the dude hyped that fan trailer as a scoop hahaha what dick.

@LEVITIKUTZ usually you come off as a ass hole but gotta say editorial on woodley was really classy, do gotta give props for that nice to know that not everyone on this sites a rex reed clone.
Carl - 2/27/2013, 6:19 PM
Thanos for avengers 2, chuck norris for avengers 3.
B00uWhore692 - 2/27/2013, 6:20 PM
...Duh. This rumor was debunked when cbm originally leaked it weeks ago. Two marvel execs hopped on the thread and debunked it in the comics. Does nobody read past the title in these articles? lol Anyways, I'm thrilled that it's not happening.
ForeverPowerful - 2/27/2013, 6:20 PM
I wouldnt mind Planet Hulk, just not now. Its too early. Give Hulk some movie love, bring back Abomination and introduce Leader. Then do Planet Hulk, I personally dont care, but just not now.
ATrueHero1987 - 2/27/2013, 6:21 PM
There are so many great Hulk stories to tell. Plus I want to see The Leader, Absorbing Man, U-Foes, One day I would like to see the Grey Hulk on screen(not sure about professor Hulk)

Paul Jenkins & Bruce Jones had a great run on Hulk, they should look to those arcs for influence.
Nick56 - 2/27/2013, 6:24 PM
Apparently that WW fan trailer from last night isn't the JL scoop the latino review guy was teasing. He says he is still working on the JL scoop. I just he is not full of shit.
Hellsing - 2/27/2013, 6:24 PM
If Whedon aint writing the script for a hulk movie then I honestly don't give a shit about it.
nld3 - 2/27/2013, 6:26 PM
Latino Review wrong again, yet people keep buying into their made up rumors!
Tymminator - 2/27/2013, 6:27 PM
I will wait and see. Truthfully, AICN has far from a speller record, and Latino review has been more hit then miss, plus the particular guy who made the claim is usually one of their more accurate reporters, still even he is not always 100% when you go back far enough.

I kinda hope it's not a planet Hulk movie, but it's all execution. Without at least the FF though and Mr Fantastic, that's would not be accurate portrayal of the Illuminatti, but then, it may be more inspired by the story than a straight adaption, which means, Banner could easily be prominent in the movie. One way or the other we will see.
Hellsing - 2/27/2013, 6:27 PM
Was he also the dude who kinda confirmed the obvious fact that ford would be coming back as solo. Wasn't that kinda obvious disney would go to crazy lengths to get him.
ThePowerCosmic - 2/27/2013, 6:27 PM
Planet Hulk is a similar premise to John Carter, and we all know Disney aint going down that road again!
Hellsing - 2/27/2013, 6:29 PM
Then again its too [frick]ing early to debunk or bloody confirm it plans tend to change.
TheOneAboveAll - 2/27/2013, 6:29 PM
That image makes Mark look like he is about to puke...
